Blimey Pigpen....I'm not quite as militant as that! LOL!:D I am happy to see anyone who wants to see me - but I would rather it be on neutral territory eg the doctors surgery rather than my house (my dog doesn't like strangers for a start!).

Is Mimi really Madeleine? I thought Maddie was short for Madeleine??? It says (after a quick search!) that Mimi is the pet name for Marilyn or Miriam (both of which I would never call a baby - but I still do like Mimi!!).

Congratulations 2ba3c! What have you called her (as we are in the middle of a big name debate!) and weight???

Maddie sounds vulgar and common (yes I am a name snob lol).. she is 'mini-me' hence Mimi..

Fingers crossed that your placenta shifts a bit, snozberry. Does it need to move very far?

It needs to move at least 2cm and it is currently 0.9cm from the exit. They seem hopeful that it will budge.

Goodness me, there is quite an interesting name debate going on. Some of you have verrrrry strong opinions lol

We are giving our son a name that he will suit at any stage in his life but we are waiting until he gets here to see what he looks like. Having said that, I am leaning towards one name more than others but it is top secret because I don't want to jinx anything.

Tbh, I am finding it easier to cross potential names off the list as opposed to add them to the shortlist. Big no nos for me are:
    1. 'unusual' spellings of traditional names, such as (for a girl) Emilie for Emily.
    2. anything with a hyphen.
    3. names who I have subconsciously linked same named 'personalities' with whether they be a child or an adult.
    4. popular names.

. Alfie is my pet hate! Really sweet for a little boy but, as you say, not good for a grown man..

now, to me, Alfie, is the name of a serial womaniser! I just can't remove the connection of the name with the lead character in Alfie.

Same here! Anything in the top 10 names is a no-go - I don't want my child to be in a class with 5 others with the same name. Nor do I want a name that no one can pronounce. Nor a name that I can relate to a naughty child either!!:D

Baby's surname will have a hyphen though - there is no way I am letting the OH just let baby have his surname!:)

    prolly haha

I don't mind surnames with a hyphen it is the first name that I object to. I just think that hyphens in the first name are chavtastic.

Where did you go for your Anti-D? Strange that you've had it already - I was told it was to be at 28 weeks. I've had the Anti-D before (previous MC) and hardly felt it :) I did get it in the bum though :rotfl:I'm hoping this one will be ok too. I have the whooping cough jab the following day - fun! Lol!

I had it at the mat asses. because I'd had a bleed due to a UTI - I've to get it again at 28 weeks though.

Met with my friend last night who's exactly 3 months ahead of me (due 27th May) and she's still tiny. I expected it anyway as I was bigger to begin with but still :rotfl:

Morning ladies. Uch i had been feeling a bit fed up last wk about getting bigger, guess cos i'm short-4ft 11 and always been a 8-10 it's just strange for me having this big bump. So last wk i had a little freak out, nothing looked good on me, no clothes suited me, some woman said i looked like i was much further along...bla bla bla. cue some tears and feeling abit down on myself. But basically i got over it, i love my bump and am so excited to be a Mammy. But this morning back at work, I have debuted my maternity work blouse because the normal shirts were becoming a bit uncomfy and this one is kinda floaty and longer, from ASOS...only to be greeted with an 'omg you're f#*&ing huge' great. Feeling kinda fed again now :(

Hello ladies, finally back on line after the snow brought our telephone wire down a week last Sunday! Thanks to nearly 3 foot of snow. BT finally got to us yesterday!

I have only one thing to say on the name debate - particularly after reading pages of my sons name being brought up - I have an Alfey - yes double criticise because of the unusual spelling too :D. My other two children have Irish names but Alfey was named after my DH's dad who he cared for, for over 25 years, until the day he died at 85 years old just as I found out I was expecting my Alfey :(. And he was affectionately known as Alfie till the day he died. I also know another elderly gentlemen called Alfie, and an older lady called Daisy and I don't find either weird. No weirder than 2 people I know calling their newborn babies Frank and Geoffrey - names most people perceive as "older" mens

Sometimes names are chosen for personal reasons. Each to their own. :) I love the way that names come and go in fashion and new ones appear. If someone wants to make a name personal to them, then so be it. I have worked with families and children for years and have heard some weird and wonderful creations and some very traditional mixes, all of which have suited their children.

Baby number 4 currently has a choice of 4-5 names and we will see what he looks like when he arrives :)

IHateDida - I love the name Mimi too but have never heard it related to Madeline before. I have a friend with a Madeline and one with a Maddison - both known very sweetly as Maddie. And I know one Miriam (runs our local Toddler group) and she is known as Mimi.

My daughter is called Orla - and the amount of people I have to correct and say its NOT Paula is untrue. So even with a pretty normal spelling it can still cause confusion with some people!

    xxx
