Hi all,
Some of you will know me from the 2 earlier forums.
Wife is now 27+3 and doing well so far, however I am starting to becomeconcerned about her wellbeing.
For those that don't know, she was given a "low" result forPAPP-A. This is a marker which some hospitals are testing for in thefirst trimester, essentially pre-screaming for preeclampsia. However there is currently no direct link andits more about doing research, seems as though some teaching hospitals (such asthe ones in Lancs) are testing for it and dishing out incorrect advice! The news jolted the wife quite bad as the Doctold her she may not be able to carry past 28w. She was told to take baby aspirin to assist with bloody flow through theplacenta.
Other than that, she had a good mid 2nd trimester and was “glowing”.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, she started getting swelling in herhands and feet, obviously getting anxious as it could be an early sign preeclampsia, she took the next day off and get an apt with the midwife. All was fine (normal growth, normalheartbeat, normal weight gain, no protein in urine) apart from slightly lowblood pressure, but she suffers from that regardless.
She has quite a stressful and very hectic job, but I have told her to calmdown with the amount of work she is doing and go for a wonder around the officeevery hour. It seems to have helped withthe swelling and it also means she is not sat down all day. She has also started to drive into workrather than taking the train. No morepeople bashing into her and no more standing for an hour on a train rockingaround!
Yesterday though she came home exhausted, clearly she has yet to slow downfully at work. She went for a sleepbefore going to her aquanatel class. Shegot back home and she was complaining of being dizzy, feeling sick andhot. So sat her down, got her a colddrink of water and it was about 30 mins before she was feeling better. She mentioned that the room and the pool werequite hot and that she had missed her tea so chances are she is just overtired, over worked and being in quite a warm room without having tea! Probably nothing but will keep an eye on it.
Then this morning, she found out that her granddad’s cancer has come backafter an operation 18 months ago, they won’t know the extent of the spreaduntil next week and if again it’s treatable. This has clearly knocked her again and it’s just going to play on hermind, along with the low PAPPA result and being over worked at work. Even if they find out what’s going on, it’sjust going to eat her up like it dad 18 months ago, and bring back memories herdad who also passed from a very aggressive form of cancer just over 2 yearsago.0 -
splank when is she booked to go on maternity leave?
You can start it as early as 29 weeks if you both feel this would be better for her go to the doctors and get signed off at 29 weeks maternity will automatically start.
I know it isn't ideal but sounds like it could take away a lot of stress and she could be with her family during this time.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Splank, I'm really sorry that I can't help in any way - I just didn't want to read and run. Kitten_Pie's idea about Mat Leave is the best I can offer as well as hoping that everything works out for you guys x
Excuse me while I scream though - work has been an absolute ngihtmare today. I've had problems after problems and then to top it off I've been stressing about my Trust Deed (debt) when I go on Mat Leave 'cause the last letter they sent me is vaguely threatening :sad:My Debt Free Diary

We ordered the pram on sat, went for the Babystyle Oyster, I love it, looks so funky. realised yesterday that my car doesn ot have isofix thingys and was planning on getting the familyfix! Doh. Don't really know what to do now, defo can't afford a new car!
Really bad sore throat today which is painful and annoying
I kind of just came over for a bit of chat - but I'm 24 weeks tomorrow anyway so I may aswell be added to the list. Can you do it for me please? Due July 6th with my first - team blue!
I don't really know anything about car seats, but we always just used the seat belt for my sister's wee ones. We were always swapping the seats in and out of her car, to our car when we would babysit and I never found it difficult at all to fix them without this new fangled isofix! Lol!
Hope your sore throat gets better!0 -

Hi Splank - I remember you from the other threads. Sorry to hear things are not good for your wife at the moment. It sounds like she is overdoing it. It's not good for us preggos to overheat so if she thinks the pool area is too hot then she should give it a miss. It is also really not good to skip meals - it would have been better for her to skip aquanatal than skip her tea.
It is recommended that you eat little and often to make sure that the nutrients baby need are always available to it (and so that mum doesn't feel faint!). My Sis is a bit of a fainter and fainted a few times when pregnant so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm sure when they take more blood (usually around 28 weeks) they will check her iron so if it anything to do with that they will pick it up.
Your wife probably knows that she shouldn't have gone to aquanatal if she hadn't had her tea, but maybe just give her a very gentle reminder that she needs to eat often and not to get into situations where she gets too warm (this is why you aren't allowed to go in a sauna/steam room or Jacuzzi)
Bless her - I'm sure with your support she will get through the shock and sadness of her Granddad's illness.
Come back and chat anytime you need us!0 -
Still in limbo - nice 3 minute contractions overnight... stopped again... no doubt they'll reappear at 3am this morning as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions about the dresser. IHateDida that is a nice one you got, I might think about it, or just get one which is a normal dresser and stick a changing mat on top as fluff suggested - we don't have anything we can use at the moment for storage at all so I thought it might be worth getting one with the unit on top. And the annoying part of me wants a white one (the baby WILL NOT CARE but for some reason I want a white cot and dresser.... probably need to get a grip.....)
Have a good day ladies
I wanted a white one too - ok cream to go with the cot bed (sad eh!), but I couldn't find one for less than £300 (even secondhand ones were £100+ on ebay:eek:)! So I got a grip and settled for the pine one - I might paint it in the future though. So I understand exactly where you are coming from with the white!!!!:)0 -
We have white furniture, kindly given to us by a friend. Ikea do a set in white which is really nice and reasonable price though!0

Sorry ladies, but just needed to share - my folks want me to ring them but only once my DH is home to get an update on my sister. All they'll say is she is very, very ill - I know this! She's on a ventilator! You don't go on life support if you're not very, very ill.
I know I am very lucky to have gotten to 35 weeks on our third pregnancy and am so close to having our take home baby, but what I'd give to be able to fly home at the moment.0
