  • I put on 4 stone 2lb :o at least a stone of that went on in the last two weeks I was overdue and was fluid. Three weeks after the birth I had lost 3 of the stones between the baby, placenta, fluid etc and a bit of help from breast feeding.

When I had Dot I gained just over 2 stone, when she was born I had lost a whole 3lb... God knows how.. she weighed 5lb4!!!

Hospital food is disgusting.. I had a shrunken head and a piece of bathmat on more than 1 occasion.. and cold custard with a skin.. not quite bakewell tart if you ask me! I had people bring in chippy and sarnies for me.

  • Hi,

Friend just called, she's had an email from mothercare about some event, free talks n goodie bag.

Anyone know about this? esp whats in the goodie bag

I don't know much about it but am going to my nearest one, figured I might learn something and I'm taking my mum so that'll be nice as we've not done any baby stuff together yet.

I remember breakfast was lovely, fruit cereal biscuits all laid out on a table to help yourself, lunch was toast or sandwich of a choice, and dinner was a choice of stuff .
And then at bedtime midwife would come round with tea, or hot choc etc
And all day a room which was like a font room, had tea and coffee on tap all day to help yourself with biscuit tins and fruit so you could just help yourself.
So really couldn't moan at all.
Even though I did get husband to bring a McDonald's in x

I refused to go near the communal room to eat.. who would watch the baby? Who would be there if someone stole her?? No chance I was letting her out of my sight!

breakfast.. incinerated toast or soggy old cereal with warm milk .. I'd rather starve.
Lunch.. wilted salad (which I cannot eat) bathmat and a splodge of something that might once have resembled potato, highly processed and riddled with salt
Dinner.. more bathmat and potato concoction.

Desserts were warm vile flavoured yoghurts (strawberry and the like *shudder*), melted ice cream.. less than I would give my 2 y/o or something unrecognisable with lumoy custard with a skin.. I had ice cream twice a day. :p

All totally inedible... So I had..

Jaffa cakes for breakfast, haribo and a muffin for lunch and for dinner, fish and chips or a chinese.. whichever I fancied..

The tea was undrinkable, I do not drink water (it is for dogs) so I had bottles of oasis brought in too.

I'm not even picky about my food but even OH refused to eat most of it! lol

  • Morning ladies!

Haven't been on for a while so just wanted to say a quick hello before my boss catches me on internet at work(oops!) lol.

On the subject of hospital food, I have no idea what to expect as i've never had a stay in hospital before. I'm not planning on liking any food and will bring snacks with me and if it ends up good then thats a bonus!

Nuffinisfree I got an email too from mothercare. Unfortunately its when i'm at work so i cant go but i really want to :)

  • Pigpen, its just so different everywhere, i went to a little low risk hospital , there were only 7bed and with ds2 there was me and one lady so there were alot more staff . The only way in the buliding is through doors which you had to be let in from so no one could nick ur baby.
  • P.s , i love water at the moment and im far from a dog lol xx thats the funniest thing ive read in ages x

my friend who had a baby just over a year ago has told me to stay in for a Sunday to get a roast dinner as its one of the best she'd had in ages!
