CONTRACTION MASTER TIMER
Please post your birth stories here when you have time/energy.0 -
Hello everyone, welcome newbies, lovely to see some more ladies joining us.
Thanks for the info on the electric meter Dizzi, and I never knew you could still have a normal tariff when you have Eco 7 meters. Need to run the comparison site again and find the best deal.
Chonorla - I picked up my bounty bag (mum to be) today and was quite impressed with it. Never had the other bounty pack as they discontinued them where I live for silly reasons.
Also had my Moses basket stand and mattress delivered today so been playing with that, exciting!
Eeeek elisabeth not long to go, glad you enjoyed your baby shower. I am booked in for waxing when I am 39 weeks and hoping to have a pedicure as well, going to see if hubby will treat me for valentines day.
Lolamancity - do you have drop in midwife sessions that you can attend? I know some ladies who have attended these instead of seeing MW through GP surgeries. I must admit I'm not too impressed with my midwife, always rushing and never has any time to answer questions or talk properly but I still go.I :heart2: saving money0 -
I dont know if i should book in for a waxing just yet. My first one was in february last year and it left in pain and sore bits for a few days, i had a holywood one.
At the start of this pregnancy and knowing how hairy i am i thought i will be having one at 37 wks, as i think it is worth, the feeling of cleanness after labour and the blood loss. I dont know now, i keep thinking i am sure i go in,have it done and i will go into labour maybe the next day with all my bits sore:eek:.
ABout the post pregnancy wrap, my family is latin, they all use it and no one of them have a loose/saggy stomach, they have bellies like they have never had babies. I will be using one this time, with dd i thought it was pointless and genetics maybe just like my mum, my loose skin did not got better for years !Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
Morocha, I have a Hollywood wax regularly... Although have wimped out a bit during pregnancy! I did have that done yesterday- like you say for cleanliness and ease- and I don't want to be a hairy mess if I have stitches and can't trim it! I thought it actually hurt less, but I've you're worried take a coule of paracetamol half hour before you go-should help. My bits are a tad sore today (sorry if tmi) but nothing too bad and I know it will be fine tomorrow x0
-
i will have to do it next week tho, i will be 39 wks. I ended up with stitches last time and it was not pleasent to hear the polish lady saying that i needed a trim and she couldnt do it. Then the doctor took over and did it herself.
Obviously this pain is nothing in comparison with labour but still, i am worried because i have sensitive skin.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
Brave ladies, I just have a bikini wax which by the way has KILLED every time I've had it done whilst being pregnant. I also use a trimmer for the rest of the area keeping hairs short.I :heart2: saving money0

Thanks for the weclome ladies
Does anyone know if you are likely to show earlier when its the second time around? I'm only 12+6 but already think I have a hard part of my tummy  (although I am very chunky so it will be a while before I actually look pregnant)
Oh and Dizzi, told a close work friend yesterday - "you must be crazy, you'll never cope" etc etc!

I think all areas are different and things change all the time - even in the same area!
When I had my last DS (he is just 3) you only got sent for the GTT if your BMI was over 35, but my MW it has just been changed to a BMI of over 30.dizziblonde wrote: »I had one noteable occasion about 28 weeks last time when my bump measured 32! Midwife just disregarded it as it was her student who'd done the measurement and they all take it slightly differently - normal service (and sane measurements) was resumed at the next appointment. Think the baby had been going through a period of sticking her backside out as well at the time!
Good to see you over here Triangle - welcome to the world of everyone thinking you're bonkers for the small age gap thing!
I have consistently measured a couple of weeks ahead, apart from at my 31w appt, measuring 38 weeks!:eek:
Am off for a scan next week to see what's happening, but I am not TOO worried because I felt like I had grown considerably over Christmas. Mayyybeee too many puds!
Good luck!Baby 2b born March 2013! :j:j:j0 -
lolamancity wrote: »i've boycotted mine because they're indescribably awful/pointless, and will 'manage' myself as much as medically possible... probably will have to go and see her when i'm about 34 weeks, but for now......
I just popped by to have a quick read as I'm normally on the 12-24 week thread (coming up to 20 weeks now) - but I had a similar experience. My MW was hopeless and rather unhelpful - so what I did was phone a midwife from a nearby town (you can get the number from either yours or another surgery) and am now seeing her.
Just make sure that they come under the same county that you live in. You are free to see who you like.0 -
I look about the level I looked at full term (well 33 weeks since I didn't GET to full-term) now already at 27 weeks! Actually have almost got a proper bump this time instead of the B shape I had last time - although last time I was almost getting a proper bump when the bump decided to come out and play.
And yep I've had all the prophecies of doom about how I'll cope with two - to be honest mentally I think I'll cope better having the whole prospect of ever having to do childbirth again removed from hanging over my head... only reason I'm struggling as much as I am now is the SPD coupled with lifting a very heavy young lady (who isn't at all mobile in terms of crawling or walking yet - she seems to hit physical milestones late because of her prematurity yet her social and communication ones caught up very very quickly) that's kicking my backside totally! Was hoping my parents would take the hint I'm struggling physically and my mum would try to arrange to come down for a few days to help when they pop by and visit on their way home from holidays start of next week - but since they're flying back in to Heathrow... can't see that one happening somehow!
I keep procrastinating over sorting out my hospital bag - done the baby's one, just mine to sort out when I get motivated about it. Have got as far as making the list and sorting out toothpaste to put in it, and the old camera (that's actually better than the new one I got for Christmas really) but that's it on the progress front.
I keep hanging onto the fact that 28 weeks next week and in terms of prem babies it's a decent point where things get a bit better prognosis wise... then I'll cross my legs and hope for 30 weeks... then 33 weeks which I know I'm going to struggle with mentally a LOT which is where things went wrong last time - with 35 weeks being my goal since that's the point where she cracked the feeding thing and we got to go home last time around. Old school friend's been on FB yesterday in hospital with what sounds to me very much like prem labour - no updates today from her so I hope all's well on that front.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
