  • Think positive vibes Rups that you will not need to be induced. I am curious though to find out why ladies are quite against induction, I have to wonder if it might be because it's not natural for the body forcing it to labour, I'm not sure.

I have PGP and I don't have any clunking (yet) but it is at it's worse when I've been laid down for a while (sleeping) and then try to get up. I take my hat off to you all ladies with it a lot worse than me. Dizzi - your comment about nails down a chalkboard on your crotch made me cross my legs, eek!

Huge labour vibes for the ladies in waiting......

Yeah I've managed to make two buggies have a massive squeaky wheel issue with putting my weight onto them - found if I use our big "can be a double" one it's much heavier framed so I can use it as a crutch substitute much better!

I've got the grinding feeling this time that I didn't have last time - gawd that's awful - it's like nails down a chalkboard but in your crotch!

Yes I agree, have managed to ruin my 6 month old Maclaren pushchair which now has a squeaky wheel......DH keeps WD40 ing it but then I just wreck it again....oooops :o

Thanks QueenB. i was actually thinking if you get induced, it shouldnt be so bad (apart from the fact that you are overdue of course) and you know you will be probably quicker no? I am trying to be positive but if i get induced i do. It is the fear of the unknown for me ie when will waters break? will they gush our or slowly trickle? stuff like that and how i will know when to head to the hospital.

Hi all, I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant with my third, I've got PGP and osteoarthritis. I've had pre eclemsia in my last two pregnancy's and I was induced at 38 weeks both times.:o

Last week my midwife told me that hospitals can now induce from 37 weeks, has anyone else heard this?

Also I've got a scan and an appointment to see my consultant 2 days before I'm 37 weeks, Does this sound like they are planning to induce me?

    Thanks

Hi kat360 I don't know what the rules are, but in my case I'm being induced 38 + 2 days but they think I might give birth before then (excessive fluid, had to be drained twice so far). 37 seems to be the magic number, but when they thought I was in early labour at 34 weeks everyone seemed pleased we had got that far. I think they would tell you when you were booked in for being induced, as they have given me a leaflet about it. I saw my consultant, then they booked me in.

Congrats on 32 weeks pregnant :D

The problem I have with induction is that is not a natural process, it is a man-made one and they are trying to force your body into labour, ready or not. It doesn't always work the way it "should" but once started it can't really be stopped. I think that a person's feelings about being induced are very individual, so others will feel differently. I have never been induced and will resist any efforts to persuade me to have one, should I get to 42 weeks.

Your waters may go with a gush (usually forewaters) or they may just trickle (hindwaters). With my first they trickled (and then at hospital they broke the forewaters which went with a massive gush (soaking the midwife), with the second they went with a gush and the third I have no idea as I was in a pool but it must have been a gush as the midwife noticed it - they went literally minutes before my third was born. So they can go at any point, or not at all!

If you think that you are in labour, the best thing to do is ring the hospital and talk to a midwife who will assess you over the phone. They don't mind how many times you ring, so don't feel that you are being a nuisance because you aren't. The midwives are supposed to be there to help you so use them - they are paid to do a job and that is to help you.

  • Hi all :T just checking in quickly to say baby girl was born at 7.20 am this morning. Ended up being transferred to hospital but only right at the end, home bit was great, just a shame I couldnt birth her there. Weighed 3.76kg. Just home now, would have been back earlier but took 4 hours to be discharged - what:eek: that was most definitely the worst bit ;)

Hope savage and GISI are ok. Will be Back to post full birth story when I have more time.

Thanks for all your support x :)
