LMM - did you get to your boot sale in the end?
I was up at 5am but didn't get the kids up and moving out of the door until 8. It was absolutely packed, sellers were crammed in. There was one lady selling big bags full of baby boy clothes for £5. No use to me unfortunately, but I still managed to pick up some good bits that I was happy with. I spent £9.50 and got:
5 x vests
2 x sleepsuits
1 x denim skirt
1 x t-shirt
1 x jeans
2 x dress/top outifts
2 x dungarees/top outfits
1 x cardigan
1 x fleecy coat (very cute with bear ears, my favourite bit!)
1 x pink coat
All of it was Next and in great condition. I only picked up 0-3 months as I didn't have the stamina to search through all of the boxes of bits.
I didn't manage to get bits quite as cheap as you moneypuddle, but I still agree that it is a massive saving over buying everything new. We went to Asda afterwards and it was £7 just for a two pack of sleepsuits that weren't as nice as the ones I'd picked up at the boot sale. I won't be buying new clothes if I can help it!Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
hello all. how are you today?
thanks so much for your messages and concern. was totally a mess yesterday.feel bit better today but so weak. have to go to boots (have no energy as have to get a bus and go into crazy croydon town centre), so am just taking it so easy before i go.
LMM, it was so weird because yesterday after you all advised me to ring nhs direct, they then got a nurse to call me back who spoke to me, and then she passed on my details to the outpatient emergency lot. then a doctor rang and said to come in at 10 and they could test basic stuff like urine as they dont have all the other normal stuff. this clinic was next to the A&E so i booked a cab and went. at first DH was making a fuss that what could they tell me? anyway i told him to stay at home as he was doing my head in and i felt so weak, so anyway he came with me and we got seen. i provided a wee sample which was so dark - i was surprised i had any wee to give as i had nothing in me. then she tested it and said i had a urine infection and yes that was the antibiotics she prescribed. how weird though it just came about!! i mean sure it can form 24 hours before, but have been lucky whenevr have given wee sample elsewhere. luckily after coming home i had stopped being sick and i thought today i bettr start those antibiotics. ok have to go soon.
slept so weirdly though. sleeping on the sides isnt that comfy and today both my hips are sore.just feel meh..
its so nice outside and i love the sun but dont even want to go out. is the sun bad for us pregnant ladies? jumped on the scales this morning and had lost weightonly from one day of puking. hope bubba is ok?
ok rambling now.. will come back soon xxx hugs to all and hope you are well. xxBecame Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Don't worry Rups, bubs will be fine. Babys take what they need and leave us to suffer. But I'm sure we wouldn't have it any other way. I've stalled on the weight front too. Lost a pound over the last week rather than put it on....I'm putting that down to going back to work though.
I've finished again now so plan on becoming a big fat fatty. Ha ha.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

elj - congratulations! I hope both you and baby recover soon!
Looks like my second sweep didn't work eitherKeep getting lots of cramps and contractions but they're obviously not strong enough to get things moving. So unless a miracle happens tonight it's the induction tomorrow.
MW said they'll break my waters and if I don't get contractions within an hour they'll put me on the drip. I can already see this going totally wrong and can't help being pessimistic. I read so much about the benefit of leaving membranes intact and was going to put it in my birth plan that I don't want anyone breaking them and now it's happening. Not to mention the drip! I know it will be all worth it in the end but was hoping for a physiological labour with minimal intervention and now it's not happening.
Sorry I am selfish today and just keep going on about myself but my mind is totally preoccupied with what's happening tomorrow.
Labour vibes to all boldies!
Have a nice day everyone!0 -

Cotton wool V wipes I have to say this as its been bothering me and I will ask the midwife at antenatal classes. Water is not enough to cleanse the skin clean of wee and poo. I would quote what my boss says about it but it is bit rude to put up here. But like the acidity, ammonia etc will breakdown the skin. We use emulsifying ointment as a cleanser, not to leave on the skin though. So if water isn't enough for cleaning old skin then how is enough for baby skin?
All of the latest recommendations are that a newborn's skin should be washed in just water. This is because a newborn's skin is not fully mature, and piling chemicals (including those found in baby wipes) on the skin will damage it over the long term. I have a list of references if anyone wants to investigate further. Water is good enough for cleansing a baby's skin and that includes removing meconium.
Babies also have a tendancy towards dry skin and many parents automatically think that they should put creams/oils/lotions on it which isn't the best thing to do. Very often the skin beneath the dry areas will be normal and it's just a case of waiting for the dry skin to fall off. A favourite of some midwives/health visitors is olive oil which should be avoided at all costs as the processing introduces allergens which can cause problems with the baby's skin.

Thinking of you silly moo. Hope you go into labour soon
OH and I just had a big row. Every time it comes to doing something like our nursery he gets so annoyed and he has such a short fuse. He said possibly the worse thing he could have said to me, the way I am feeling at the moment "Get off your fat !!!! and help me" So now I've stormed out the house and am left feeling gutted that he would say something like that0 -
oh moneypuddle, hugs to you. i understand how you feel as i get that ALL the time. my DH is short fused too. this morning he annoyed me because i said i didnt have energy to go boots to get my medicine. just ignore him and when he is calm just tell him he cant say stuff like to you. men really dont get it. if you could do something you would right?i wouldnt ask my dh either. the other day he asked me to move the bed with him and when i said no, he got angry so l let him do it and went downstairs. just ignore him and hopefully u being on your own will calm you down a bit and him too. hugs hon.xxxBecame Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Queue tears. Hugs to ulove you lots like jelly tots0

silly moo labour vibes to you, hope it all kicks off tonight for you so you avoid intervention.
I hope everything calms down soon and he apologises moneypuddle. Me and DH can be like that, but I'm not capable of storming off so things tend to calm down quickly. When I'm having a less stressed and hormonal day I can appreciate how hard it is when they have to do everything now, which they're not used to. DH actually said to me today that I never say thank you when he does all the extra things for me and it did make me think about how I have been taking him for grantedI hadn't realised I wasn't being grateful, but a change of attitude is coming up now.
