moneypuddle - that is so sad. I can't imagine how awful it must be for them to go through that.

Rups - glad you were checked out and all is ok. Hope the antibiotics make you feel better.

Kitten you've got loads of clothes there, hope you're ok.

Waters breaking - It's only a problem is they go in a big tidal gush. First time mine broke in more of a trickle, so you'd wake up and know before the mattress was ruined. I did get two huge towels to sit on in the car though.

Wet wipes and cotton wool - I used cotton wool and water with my daughter as I wanted to do everything exactly correctly. I found it a total pain, especially when out and about. I guess different things work for different people. I went straight to wipes with my son and found it easier. He never had nappy rash, so it didn't do him any harm. I think someone mentioned Huggies wipes having a chemically smell, which I agree with. I used anything but Huggies, all others were fine.

I managed to get sun burnt at the park yesterday, I hadn't expected the sudden heat after the overcast start to the day. I sat and watched everyone eating ice cream and cooling off, and felt very jealous. Being the total pig that I am I hate to miss out on a treat, but it didn't seem worth the risk.

LMM - it was me hoping for the car booting weather. And it's sunny this morning, so off we go :)

  • Morning all!

Wow it looks lovely outside today!
katyLiz hope you found some bargains! Was woken at 9 to go car booting. However OH has faffed about moaning about Internet banking and wanting a haircut so I dunno what's happening here! Hugs for the sunburnt :(

Cotton wool V wipes I have to say this as its been bothering me and I will ask the midwife at antenatal classes. Water is not enough to cleanse the skin clean of wee and poo. I would quote what my boss says about it but it is bit rude to put up here. But like the acidity, ammonia etc will breakdown the skin. We use emulsifying ointment as a cleanser, not to leave on the skin though. So if water isn't enough for cleaning old skin then how is enough for baby skin?

There's always an ice cream van at the car boot. Although I love Mr Whippy (have missed something why were not meant to have it I think), my favourite is the banana lolly. Kinda angel delight frozen style. Yummy and I always have one :) OH is nagging me so I'd better Get of my bum. Oh he's just found 50p in his pocket lol he's chuffed, little things, little minds lol.

Have a great days folks xxx

Hope you feel better today rups

Moneypuddle- that is so sad, they are incredibly brave to go through that to help someone else.

Had a bit of a meltdown on Friday night, just couldn't stop crying. I remembered feeling absolutely terrified once DD was born about anything happenening to her, and was worrying about how much mroe terrified I will feel with 2. I know that probably doesn't make sense.

Off to look at fridge freezers today, how exciting! Although will be off for a swim this afternoon in MIL and FIL outdoor pool, bliss!

Hoep everyone else is OK, hugs where needed and labour vibes to those that want them. xx

    Morning all

miss money saver did you get to a carboot? It's warm in north yorkshire today and I'm just back from my favourite carboot sale. OH got 2 playstation games for £13 and I bought

    1 x vest
    1 x pair of trousers
    1 x smart shirt
    4 x tshirts
    1 x polo shirt
    1 x hooded summer top
All in ages 3-6 or 6-9 months and all for ...... £2.50. Hurrah! :T

Also got an electrical Avent steralizer for £2

I really dont think I can ever go back to buying baby clothes from shops again after seeing what bargains carboots can offer! The clothes would easily be I would think £40-£50 if bought new from shops, based on the labels. I'm just desperate to stay off work for as long as possible, so am loving saving money wherever possible, especially by buying older clothes so I dont have to spend much on clothes when I'm on maternity leave :)

I get this quite regularly too, even though this is baby number one for me. How can I be responsible for an entire human life (along with OH of course, but I think its somehow different for mothers)??? I'm worried that even when he starts to sleep, I won't because I'll be so worried about him. I'm going to be awake for the next 20 years agggh!

Thanks for your kind words everyone I am trying to relax and not get worked up about the baby not being here yet!

Anyway one good thing about him not arriving yet was I got to see The Dark Knight Rises with my husband and his friend last night. 9pm showing so got to bed after 1am. Quite tired today. Found walking from the cinema back to the car park very tiring and a strain in my tummy, can't believe walking only a relatively short distance is so much effort these days!

Had lots of tightening in my abdomen and stomach cramps in the last day but still nothing really happening. Re. waters breaking I've a feeling it won't actually happen before I start having contractions; no logical reason for saying so but haven't even had mucus plug thing as far as I'm aware.

Hopefully if I get to Tuesday and am the same the membrane sweep by the midwife will do something. I would like to have baby soon before the weather gets really hot. On the plus side lots of chances to sit in the garden on the new garden furniture.

Finally I did end up buying Little Lamb bamboo reusable nappies in the sale – 10 nappies plus 6 wraps and bought 6 rolls of 100 disposable liners too. We have nearly 200 disposables so will use those initially I think and then try out the reusables.

Still a bit hard for me to envisage actually having a son as he clearly doesn't want to come out, but he will definitely be here in less than 2 weeks, whether naturally or induced, which is a strange thought!

    Love to all xxx

P.S. You know how mundane your life has become when you feel a sense of achievement that you finally managed to defrost the freezer in preparation for lots of frozen/ready meals!
