hi ladies how are you all?

bamama sorry i dozed off yest and then just went to bed as my laptop had died.

mrsb, no way should you drive. its not right actually and if your bro asks again just bite his head off. you are allowed too. xxx

hope everyone is ok. good luck savage and all the overdue ladies as well.

went to see my mum with dh today. it was nice but i am tired and i didnt even do much. feel a bit nauseous too. can that STILL happen at this stage? and guess what more? the hot water has packed up again and now we are sitting waiting to hear from the gas guys to see if they can come tonight or tomorrow? seems like they will come tomorrow.. i am sitting with an extra blanket now. stupid hot water issues. i really feel like i am back home in kenya with these on-off probs. sorry didnt mean to rant.

on the plus side, i managed to wrap my side of the family's presents and hand those in as i am not sure if i will see them until after xmas and whether bubs will be here or not?

getting hungry too nw. what to eat which i can cook on the electric hob?

quick question ladies.. have you got baby slings yet? just remembered that may need one. also is anyone getting those cloths to cover you when you breastfeed? I am kind of shy about breastfeeding in public so will cover myself. lol.

  • Wow savage Youre really lucky, where abouts in the country do you live? If I was to go 12 days over, even if I refused the induction they 'recommend' the midwifes wouldn't attend a home birth as that's the limit :( so if they'll let you go to 43 and have HB that's great :)

Like you, if induced it woud be in delivery suite with constant monitoring and not home from home bit. I know this as thats what happened first time round:o fairly constant monitoring during peasant and total monitoring when drip starting meaning couldn't go more than about a metre from the bed :(

I do hope it works for us and we both get our desired HB :D
  • I have a number of slings Rups! I have a stretchy wrap for when bubs is tin- nice and cosy and comfy. I bought it from here on the recommendation of a friend http://www.joyandjoebaby.co.uk/.

I personally think that those BF cover-ups make BF more obvious than just feeding. Try BFing in front of a mirror- you really can't see anything. If you do want to cover up then a muslin cloth tucked under your bra strap works just as well.

well tomorrow going to be 38 weeks so lets see how far along i am going lol. saw my mum today and her and my sis in law reckon that this week, i am giving birth. lol. lets see. my brother said my bump was lower than usual. hmmm..

thanks for the link got it spend it. will have a look and yes will think about the muslin.. i dont know. am so conscious of it. when i saw a friend who started bf, i felt shy. i think its the way we have been brought up. so stupid as when i used to wear tops that showed my figure (and not revealing) my mum told me off saying i should wear loose tops. think that sort of stuff stuck in my head. grrrr.. stupid!

Thankyou for all your replies ladies :) I'm glad it's not me being completely unreasonable & I'm glad I can come on here & rant to get let it out without ranting at OH :o

I also think you should not drive for that long, nor your OH. I would help with the cooking and ask somebody else to go. Or even buy a train ticket for grandpa and get someone on each stop to get him there and pick him up. Do not let your brother talk you into guilt, only because you did it last year it does not mean you will do it forever, specially when there are other people in the family who could also do it and this year you are clearly not available. There are many things that could go wrong with regard to driving during Christmas time, as to also add the fact that you will be heavily pregnant and your OH (for what it seems) has not got paternity leave and can only take a couple of days off. Ask other members of the family, but I would not drive if I were you.

We often offer to help with the cooking & OH does help out where he's allowed but I think my Dad enjoys cooking for everyone & seeing how much everyone enjoys it :) Unfortunately it wouldn't be an option for my Grandad to travel unaccompanied on the train, his health is not good enough & I don't think it would actually be possible on xmas day to get from A to B :( OH will be getting paternity leave but not until Bean is born, he works in the hospitality industry so days off at this time of year are rare & I think he should be able to make the most of them when he works so hard :o
I don't think you're being unreasonable Mrs_B. If there was no-one else to drive him I would probably volunteer OH, but definitely think others should take a turn first.

I'd definitely end up volunteering OH if noone else was available but when there are plenty of other family members I don't see why he should have to :( There are at least 3 other possibilities of people who could do it before we need to volunteer him.

Mrs_B, I wouldn't be driving if I were you. You had your turn last year and are now...1. Heavily pregnant, 2. Unable to drive that sort of distance, 3. Should not be driving with the weather (could be raining/icy/snowing)... amoung many others. It shouldn't fall to your OH either for the same reasons. Your brother shouldn't even be asking you to do so either.

Exactly my logic. I'l struggling to drive now, never mind in 2 weeks & the prospect of OH getting stuck 100 miles away is enough to put me into labour :rotfl: And as for my brother asking, he doesn't really think before he asks these sorts of questions. I wouldn't mind so much if he'd offered me the option of going to pick him up before lunch but he seems to have nominated himself for that :(

I won't be doing the drive & neither will OH. I am putting my foot down. Particularly when we also have already made plans to go & see OH Dad after we've done the family xmas with my family. Why should he be penalised because of my side of the family? Tbh, I actually think my Dad will stand up for me & tell my brother he's out of order for even asking me to take my Grandad home :p I don't think he'd be happy thinking of me driving that far, at 35wks pregnant, in the dark & the delightful weather we'll no doubt get on xmas day night :)

Is that sling easy to put on and take off on your own? I'm thinking of.buying one to have around the house, so I can have the baby with me whilst doing certain chores. I have a baby carrier but it is more of a carrier for the street, not for use around the house all the time. I have a bouncer for the baby, but I want to be able to carry her to calm her down. That one you posted seems good and has also a good price, but I cannot see any instructions on how to put it on, is it easy?

For some reason, these last three days I've been having constant cat naps, I'd be full of energy a moment and then pass out for an hour out of the blue, then awake agsin. I've also had nosebleeds, which is not common for me, and I felt quite hormonal, the way I used to feel when my period was coming, which I had not felt during pregnancy either. Cramps still here, but at random, I think I've had slightly pinkish discharge today, but no obvious show either. My dates were 4 days off from what they said, I conceived a Sunday (mother's day!) and implanted on a Wednesday /Thursday, so I personally think that I might also deliver on Wednesday /Thursday. We'll see!!! I wanted Wednesday, but the midwife will do the sweep that day. Oh, well, I guess it will happen when she's ready!! DH says she's too comfy and warm there, and that she.does not know it would be better for her to be born way before Christmas if she.wants extra presents!! Lol

DH got holidays because he couldn't wait to be at home, so we might go to the Christmas markets tomorrow morning, as they might be less busy on a Monday morning and I want to walk, I've spent most of the week sat down or laying down, and this baby seems to be too mobile, she keeps punching, poking and kicking, I thought that engaged babies moved less!! She needs to drop down!! Also, every.new day this belly of mine keeps growing, stretching and itching. I was doing great for stretch marks and relaxed with the cream routine, only to find today a few new ones appearing below my belly button which were not there before EDD!!! DH goes to her level and asks her if she knows which way is the way out, lol. He's great, makes me laugh even when I'm this grumpy!!

Yrs, mrsB, that's it!!! :D my DH also said it was unreasonable to ask you that, just in case you wanted a male's perspective on the topic, lol.

awwh marta, how cute :) def they are getting comfy in the bellies.. Today mine has been busy as well and i just said to DH that i notice more reddy stretch mark type things on my belly now.. my belly really looks so marked and has 'tyre' marks everywhere. hope they disappear after. i cream my belly everyday but they are still there.. so stretched and feels weird. Think over here we are now ready to meet our babies hey?

i thought the same about the slings. i wondered whether they come sort of ready to just put on or do you have to faff about making it and turning twisting it? the website ones are cheap though as well. didnt realise what the time was. am getting tired esp as been a long day. the gas has been sorted again but we need to ring someone and ask why this keeps happenin to us? i got so cold earlier and now the heating is on and i am hot, but prefer to have gas/haeting and turn it on and off when we want.

sorry am going on. will log off now and say gd night. have some deliveries tomorrow. :) x night night.

Night to everyone. Just wanted to leave a question for the morning...

What are your views on "visiting"?

OH's mother has said she will be coming down to the hospital as soon as I'm in. I know they lock the main doors at 10pm and I'd have to go in via the accident unit (it's not an A+E dept). Not sure she'd be allowed to do so? The hopital I'm going to is small and has a midwife led birth centre.
