Chuggers in Morrisons

Hand up *question*
While chuggers are beyond annoying (and they seem to be multiplying in numbers faster than a Gremlin in a swimming pool in Barnsley Town Centre) What are you folks opinions on those who stand at the bottom of the till and try and speed bag up all your shopping so you throw money in their big black bucket?
I had some small kids attempting to pack my shopping up a while back and ending up saying "no thanks" because I had eggs and glass bottles that they just threw into the bags willy-nilly and I was a bit worried about them either dropping stuff (I'm paying for the stuff) or hurting themselves.
while it's different to Chugging, does anybody else think that it's just as annoying. Fair play to the kids for trying to raise a few quid, but is anybody else a bit uncomfy with others handling your shopping?*
* I'm trying to put it rather delicatelyas not to offend
BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

Then its they're loss if they follow you, see whats the longest you can keep 1 following you
Maybe it is their loss, but it makes me feel really uncomfortable, and I dont understand why the won't leave it be. Its one thing to ask for a charity donation, but quite another to have it harrassed out of you0 -

I use strong big reuseable bags and issue them with one for frozen and cold items; one for cans and bottles; one for fresh fruit and veg. and one for sundries, along with strict instructions as to what goes where and nothing to be squashed. Eggs and suchlike I deal with myself. It can be quite a laugh and the youngsters appreciate the team effort. It's worth a pound or so in the bucket for the entertainment.0 -
Not a fan of chuggers, but at least they are fairly easy to spot (as per an earlier post, high on the am-dram scale). My massive issue is with the energy, insurance, whatever, sales people who wear supermarket uniforms. Have seen this in both Sainsburys and M&S. If an external sales person tries to stop me I say no thanks. However it is easy to be caught off guard if you think a member of store staff speaks to you. I find it dishonest.0

I honestly think the kids are worse.
Its one thing saying no to an adult. It can be very hard to say no to a little kid with a parent standing right behind.
I wish that morrisson would leave a few paypoints free of these charities. I like to chose if I want to be approached by a charity.0 -
Morrisons Supermarket in Cheriton road Folkestone in kent are the anti christ of chuggers and salesmen.
They are a breeding ground for the beggars brigade.
I spend my money in Lidle and Aldi and will never set foot in Morrisons again.0 -

.
Why encourage those who pimp their kids for charity?
It is your money, don't feel you ought to give it to little beggars.
If everyone said no thanks, the chuggers would soon give up."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Canterbury town centre is a slalom on a Saturday. It is saturated with the cretins... all from the same charity. No sooner have you said a polite "no thank you" to the first one at the top of town, you're on top of the next one and having to avoid eye contact. By the time you've got to the bottom of town you just want to go home. It ruins my day out.0

I was in Sainsbury's a few weeks' ago and was stopped by someone actually in the middle of the store trying to push their Nectar Credit Card on people.
He gestured for me to go over to him, then when I ignored him he said "Now come on, don't be rude" which kind of made me feel a bit guilty so I stopped to see what he had to say. He then asked me, loudly enough for other shoppers to hear, how I was going to pay for my shopping, by card or by cash? I was shocked that a total stranger should ask me that! As if I'm going to announce to the passing shoppers whether or not I'm carrying lots of cash! I told him I wasn't prepared to discuss that with him and walked away, which seemed to annoy him a bit by the way he was grumbling under his breath!
I complained about him to the next managerial-looking member of staff I saw and was told that the man wasn't actually employed by Sainsbury's but she would forward my complaint of feeling intimidated by him, and being asked personal questions by him, to the manager.
I wonder if she actually did!!I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -

Not only do we have to dodge them in the street, they are now allowed indoors...unacceptable.
Oh c'mon!
Did you really get hassled by somebody collecting for charity at Morrisons?
I bet you were not, it was most probably some person, maybe two, standing or sitting near the entrance who may have asked for a donation. And asked you once, or maybe twice if they feel you did not notice.
That is all that has ever happened to me, and to everybody else who happens to walk in store at the same time as me.
A polite yes or no to their request suffices.
Not really a hassle is it?
A moan about nothing.0
