Went to my local Morrisions today and was hassled by Chuggers in the store!
Not only do we have to dodge them in the street, they are now allowed indoors...unacceptable.

A regular occurrence in my local Morrisons, don't think there has ever not been a chugger when I have been.
When it was still Safeway it used to have two exits, so you could just go out the other exit to avoid the energy salesmen and chuggers. Then Morrisons took over an bricked in the other exit.0 -
Once in Sainsburys I had an energy company trying to sell to me!
It is annoying when chuggers and sales people are allowed in the stores to hassle people.0 -
Were these 'proper' chuggers i.e. those people who normally acost you in the street and try to get you to sign direct debits for different charities every week or were they people collecting for charity?
Was it really hassle or did they just rattle their tin/bucker or maybe say 'would you like to give to xx charity, please sir'.
I find there's a difference - although I do hate someone rattling a tin under my nose.0 -
This is the reason I would never set foot in morrisons during the weekend.
There is always an salesman in the carpark trying to sell breakdown insurance or similar.
There is always an salesman at the entrance and at the exit with all sorts of special deals specialy for you.
There is always a charity asking if they can help to put shoppings in bags. Often young kids that doesn't understand that I like to pack my own stuff away.
There is often other charities near the exit.
One should not have to carry a 'No cold caller' sign to go shopping.0 -

I got accosted the other week by a girl who held up a poster with the picture of a little Indian girl and a cabbage patch doll, the headline said "little Suki £2 per month, Cabbage patch doll £18.99", after I signed up I thought, what am I doing if that kid lives until she's 18 it's going to cost me £250 I could have had the doll for less than £20!
Sorry bad Ricky Gervaise joke.0 -

Just ignore them or whilst they hassle another customer you walk straight past, not that hard. Even just say a simple No thanks is sufficient.0 -
Print-your-own flyers to give to chuggers (click for bigger) - these work well if printed 2 or 4 on double-sided A4 (ie double-sided at A5/A6 after cutting)
Edit - for those who were asking, please feel absolutely free to use/copy/repaste/share/distribute/change/improve/etc these
Second edit - did you know that editing a post resets all the thankses? Makes sense, but I didn't know that!0 -
I like these (apart from using 'guilt' as a verb).
The only trouble is, who would be prepared to carry these around on the off chance that they are going to get chugged?
I haven't been chugged in years.
I suppose they would be ideal for people who visit certain places where there are always chuggers at some particular time.
One other problem: What if it's a Sky/Energy Company/Double Glazing/whatever annoyance? (On occasion one of these has stopped or tried to stop me and it has not been clear who they are working for until they start their spiel.) You would hand them something that was completely inappropriate.
Still, apart from that pedantry, they are good and I'd love to be able to use one. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
