tesco delivery-not happy with subs

I find that if I order ready meals (usually for OH to take to work) the dates are nearly due up. I had two where they were dated remove from shelf the day they were delivered. Makes me wonder if they do they this to avoid reducing the items in store. This is no good if you are placing a weekly shopping order and want to keep the items refrigerated until you use them. I only order with Tesco as I collect the points.0

I was one of the "patronising" customers who put notes on my order saying "pick longest date". I kept getting yoghurts for my baby daughter which had a use-by date of a couple of days. It was a 4 pack yoghurt so I had to throw half of it away as she only eats 1 a day. I started putting notes on my order and miraculously the yoghurts started turning up with use-by dates of a couple of weeks. I also had a similar experience with fresh soup and other fresh items. So no, I don't think I was patronising, it was necessary to tell the shoppers at my Tesco store what to do as they consistently got it wrong. As I said earlier, I gave up shopping with Tescos when I was sent 2 items that were 3 months past their use-by date. The substitutions are put into carrier bags that are turned inside out, and we pack these on the top of the crates so the driver can spot them easily to show the cutomer on delivery.
This never happened with the deliveries from the Tesco store where my shopping came from. The drivers never "showed" us anything, they just literally dumped the crates in our back yard and we had to empty them ourselves. One of the drivers even dropped our shopping all over the road and he hoped we hadn't noticed. I wouldn't use Tesco's again if you paid me!0 -
I have been using home shopping for about 4 years I guess. It is easy as I don't have to drag 2 little ones to the supermarket every week plus I build up my points this way. Using Tesco means my kids have been to Disneyland in Paris and to Florida, this year we are off to Disney again - sure wouldn't be able to afford this without the Deals Vouchers via Clubcard points so for us it is worthwhile.
They are rarely late - once I think - and sure we have subs which can be sent back but if you went to the Supermarket then it would not be on the shelf anyway - just put a note asking for what you want instead, I do. On the occassions I have had mouldy fruit I email them or call them and get my money back - I had 2 Xmas joints of meat that I ordered on 23rd came in date 23rd and 24th, I called Tesco and they had one of their emplyees out within the hour with 4 new fresh (and bigger) joints of meat. We also did get about £33 worth of food thatwas not ours - I called them and they told e to keep it - but that person would have been short on their order, it had labels on our basket oin our name as well so it was a mistake on their part. it happens, we are only human after all.
Personally I love Tesco but only while they have clubcard vouchers - if they stopped that I would go to Asda who have just started delivering in the area this week0 -

I am a 'shopper' for Tescos, and sometimes it's impossible to get the right colour bananas - you do get some odd requests LOL
You should hand any substitutions back to your driver, but I know people do complain about the slightest thing, and 'in my opinion' say things are missing - we need to scan the item to make it appear on your receipt so it needs to go somewhere LOL, it all get's fed back to the shopper and they are judged on complaints etc.. and I take it personally, I always look for the best dates, but as if I was a regular shopper, the dates aren't always great!!!
We also get assesed on how many substitutions we make (again, not our fault if it's not on the shelf LOL). If your bread wasn't in stock, a different type of bread should be given though as it is a key item.

Wonder where my bread went the other week then. Maybe the driver fancied a sarnie.

Hmmm whats with the lemons? I stopped using tesco after my lemon was substitued for lemon flash ultimate cleaner
Why they didn't just select a multipack or at least some lemon juice I don't know.
OMG is that for real!!?!! lol lol I thought the banana sub was hilarious, but substituting lemon cleaner for a lemon is even funnier:rotfl:0 -
I've been doing on-line shopping for the last couple of months.
I got an order this morning and the driver pointed out that there hadn't been any morning rolls available so they couldn't give me them. I was surprised that there hadn't been any rolls they could have given me instead but it wasn't too big a deal. When I was putting the shopping away I realised there were 4 yogurts missing.
I called up and was told I'd get a refund. Two weeks ago the chips were missing and we phoned up then. Last week I'd ordered some single bags of Walker's crisps and amongst the ones we got there were bags with 'multipack' and 'not for resale' written on them so I'm not sure if they were among the full sized single bags by mistake or if they were sent on purpose.
I didn't phone up about the crisps as I was worried that the customer service people wouldn't believe me since I'd had to phone up the week before.
About a month ago I'd ordered shampoo and conditioner that was on buy one get one free. The shampoo was out of stock and the driver brought the conditioner on its own so I explained that it meant I was paying full price for the one item as they hadn't been able to give me the free one with it and asked him to take it back. He looked at me like I was daft.
Just out of curiousity, is it normal to tip the driver? I usually give them £2 and they don't seem very keen to take it. I don't know if its because taking tips is frowned upon or if they maybe don't think £2 is very much. Any opinions?
Although I do have the small complaints listed above I'm happy overall with the shopping as its been handy and I've been able to use codes to get some extra clubcard points.
I also put a note on some items in my order with 'please pick best expiry date'. I do this because a couple of times I got a lot of meat that expired the next day and I wasn't able to use it all in time.0 -
Well I know I'm in the minority here but I've been really impressed with Mr T's home delivery service (mine comes from the Purley store). I've had one or two substitutions and even a couple of things I hadn't ordered (extra 6 pints of milk and an extra bar of organic chocolate last week!) but on the whole everything has been spot on with long dates, nothing bruised or broken, in fact when something has been wrong it's been me getting carried away with the + sign and over-ordering! I've only sent back one substitution and that was credited back within a few days. Have only been doing this for a few weeks since my car broke down and I haven't seen it since! Don't think I'd bother going back to doing it myself
Don't know if it depends on which day you go for as to what's in stock - I always have mine delivered on Tuesdays (£3.99 del charge) - perhaps that's not such a popular day.
Had to laugh today though - yes lemons again! Came disguised as limes (perhaps it was camouflage!) Luckily wasn't a problem so didnt bother to phone and complain.
And I've been making full use of the codes for free delivery - thanks guys!0 -
I placed an order for delivery the day I got back from holiday but got the dates mixed up. I asked DD to cancel the order but she went into the store to collect it instead. They'd substituted a magazine - the special £1 only online one was out of stock - so she told them I wouldn't want the substitute but I'm still waiting for the refund on that and the promised delivery charge refund. Now I'll only order when extra 500 points vouchers are around.0

I am disappointed with Tesco Online as well because they didn't even let me know that they cancelled my order due to item out of stock. I had to ring them 5 times and was put on hold for god-knows how long everytime. I'm sick of ringing them anymore. (those who mentioned about emailing them, what's their email address? (it's not mentioned on the tesco website).
By the way, about the funny substitution issues, why not just choose "no substitution" when you checkout? Well, I did that but ended up getting nothing delivered. At least, better than getting my lemon being replaced with lemon cleaner?0 -
