tesco delivery-not happy with subs

Thats the precise reason i like sainsburys delivery.
needless to say- i didnt order from tescos
Thanks, I had moved to Asda home delivery (seems OK but the fruit and veg is a bit naff). Haven't tried Sainsburys (wasn't aware it was free delivery over £70 - that's a huge advantage).
Irony is that I used to be a Senior Manager for Tesco (which probably means I expect more from them than most as we had to do our utmost for customers. Now that I am no longer an employee and just a customer instead I expect that level of service).
With the contacts that I have still within Tesco I was going to report the individual at Dundee call centre that advised me to take my business elsewhere but to be honest I have had several instances of poor customer service from this call centre and can't be bothered ringing up to complain each time. It is far easier to take her advice and shop elsewhere.
Thanks for the tip on Sainsburys home shop. Will give them a try next time I shop.
(I should add that I no longer work for ANY supermarket chain and thereby have no bias).0 -
Asda with out a doubt is best for substitutions. They substitute the item for something of a higher value and you pay the original cost.0

Why do tesco shopping arrive in so many plastic bags , i normally find 1 item in a bag , its such a waste . I do give my bags back to the driver but it drives me mad !!!0

with asda, I ordered 2 baking kits with a mother's day theme, and instead got the naffest photo frame I have ever seen, and a reasonably cute 'cuddle in a mug' gift set instead.
I ordered pork and cranberry sausages and got 2 jars of cranberry sauce instead, that was tesco..!0 -
I don't think much thought is put into substitutions. I've ordered Dr Pepper and got Redbull and I have had to make sure I put do not substitute on any wine order. Its like they just reach for the nearest thing to hand when the item you want is out of stock0

we get stuff delivered from tesco because they are the cheapest and the vouchers can now be used to pay for OU courses. fantastic. but the service is generally pretty bad. i used to tick the "no substitutions" box, but then i'd only get half of what i had ordered, so now i don't. but i can't figure out why sometimes things get substituted and other times they don't.
for example, i once ordered 8 bottles of tesco soda water. the man of the house doesn't drink regular water, so this was an important part of the order. these were out of stock and weren't substituted. that made no sense to me. surely they must've had some sort of soda water in stock? i don't care what brand it is. or even plain sparkling water. this was just one of 7 or 8 items that were out of stock. i called tesco to complain that i had paid a delivery fee when i still had to go out to my local tesco that day to pick up all of the things that they didn't deliver. they refunded that but made a big deal about how they were doing me a favour. what? the reason why i get shopping delivered is that i don't have time to go to the store every week or a car to bring home heavy items (like bottles of soda water). i understand that sometimes things are out of stock, but when over 50% of the order doesn't arrive, something is wrong.
and the thing about handing substitutions back to the driver only works if he hangs around long enough to take them. in our case, the driver usually dumps everything out of the crates and onto the landing before i've made it to the door. he then shoves the pen in my hand and is off long before i've had the chance to go through the bags and the receipt.
and yet i continue to use them. that's what happens when a store has close to a monopoly on a neighbourhood.0 -

Hi,
The computer on the trolly tells us what draw to put each item in (there are 6 draws on the trolley, they might all be for one customer or you might shop for a few at a time), I think it's all based on weight where everything goes so when they are stacked the heavy crates are at the bottom.
When we do a shop, it might say but 6 different packs of biscuits in different draws, so we'd put a pack in several carriers - and then for other items. We can't pack cleaning products in the same carriers as groceries, and we can't put health and beauty products with groceries or cleaning products. If it's a chilled order we can't put cooked meat with raw meat, or Chicken with red meat - still with me :rotfl: so that's why all the bags LOL, it does make me laugh that customers that come in are incentived to re-use carrier bags yet dot.com uses millions!! The carrier bags you send back aren't re-used, just recycled with the other carrier bags that are disposed of!
Also, a few posts on here make it sound that 'all' shoppers are stupid and can't make decent substitutions. I take pride in what I do - there are some good'uns out there LOL

I gave up using Tescos when the snotty lady on the phone advised me that it was perfectly reasonable for my order to be over an hour late.
What's the point in giving time slots then?0 -

Had my first proper tesco shop delivered and have had some items substituted, but I'm not really happy. Have heard of people calling up and being told to keep the item and they will get a refund, just wanted to check that this is definitely the case, is there a number of items that this can be done on, I have 7 different items.
Plus, can I complain about green bananas when i specically asked for yellow ones?
Getting back to the original question, If you are not happy, ring and complain, if you are only ringing to try and get something for nothing, dont. Why are you asking for people to confirm you are going to get to keep an item you are not happy with if you ring to complain?

I think the Sainsburys free delivery is only certain days - something like Tuesday to Thursday if I remember rightly0
