tesco delivery-not happy with subs

I think the Sainsburys free delivery is only certain days - something like Tuesday to Thursday if I remember rightly
Thanks Eccle.
Rang Sainsburys to clarify. The policy seems a bit woolly to say the least (in that it varys on your location and is due to change shortly). Thought I would post my findings to save others making same phone call.
You have to spend £70 to qualify for free delivery (as per previous poster)
You DON'T get the free delivery (regardless of spend) on your 1st shop (seems a little odd but hey ho)
The free delivery on £70 shops thereafter is restricted to Tue/Wed/Thurs (as per previous poster)
Not all stores offer free delivery to £70 shoppers on T/W/Th (some charge 99p)
As of 22nd April the free delivery on £70 T/W/Th will be INCREASED to half of the normal price delivery ie. new charge of £2.500 -
I shop from tesco as well on a weekly basis and found some subs to be stupid, for instance i asked for baby wash for my sons bath and got given hand wash! Other ones have been that when my shopping was delivered i was missing 3 bags, i had drivers number as he'd phoned for directions and tried to get through but got hung up on. I phoned CS and they guy was really nice (Dundee call centre) and he refunded me my delivery charge as well as all the other items, no questions asked just apologised and was straight to the point.
So not all advisors in DUNDEE are bad, i found them most helpful, i went through to one in wales and she couldn't understand a word i was saying, that has to be the most annoying thing when phoning CS for companies..Baby number 2 due April 2010, were having a girl!!! :j0 -
Thanks Eccle.

Cheers, that's useful to know it will be going up soon. Still not bad compared to the £5, but a shame they're increasing it0 -

The computer on the trolly tells us what draw to put each item in (there are 6 draws on the trolley, they might all be for one customer or you might shop for a few at a time), I think it's all based on weight where everything goes so when they are stacked the heavy crates are at the bottom.
When we do a shop, it might say but 6 different packs of biscuits in different draws, so we'd put a pack in several carriers - and then for other items. We can't pack cleaning products in the same carriers as groceries, and we can't put health and beauty products with groceries or cleaning products. If it's a chilled order we can't put cooked meat with raw meat, or Chicken with red meat - still with me :rotfl: so that's why all the bags LOL, it does make me laugh that customers that come in are incentived to re-use carrier bags yet dot.com uses millions!! The carrier bags you send back aren't re-used, just recycled with the other carrier bags that are disposed of!
Also, a few posts on here make it sound that 'all' shoppers are stupid and can't make decent substitutions. I take pride in what I do - there are some good'uns out there LOL
Mrs P.
Totally understand you cant pack some food items with others , dont get me wrong iam not stupid :rotfl: But what i get is just stupid !!! Perhaps the person was new on that day and decided to pack one thing per bag just in case they got it wrong0 -
i get a weekly Tesco delivery, and rarely get subs. when i do, they are like for like items, just different flavours or smaller/bigger portions
i always check my subs, and they are easy to find, as my store puts them in inside out bags.
I think out of my 100 home delivery shops, (been using Tescos for 2 years now), only once have they been late, but they called me to let me know, one time they actually called to ask if they could come 2 hours early!!!
i give my Tescos Home delivery a big thumbs up!!!0 -
I once ordered 24 packets of individual crisps ar 14 pence each, the ones they sent came to £5.50..for 24 packets of crisp! Took them back to the store and got my refund though....

Christmas 2015 - started to save/wrap!0 -
I use Tesco & most of the time the service is very good. I see the same 2 or 3 drivers & they all mention the subs & will take back any I don't want. The substitutions always come in inside out bags so are easy to find to give them back, obviously they are also listed at the top of your invoice.
I have had a couple of annoying things lately with fruit & veg, mouldy tomatoes, bruised pears & yellow bananas (only eat green ones!) & lettuce that ran out on that day. Sometimes I complain, sometimes I don't but I always do it by e-mail, rather than phone. I have had items missing in the past & a few weeks ago was nearly given 4 bags of someone elses shopping. Luckily the HUGE amounts of milk warned, us as most of the other stuff was on our list!0 -
I just remembered a substitution that didn't go down well, a small gammon joint (about £3) was substututed for a large T finest joint, lovingly smeared in gloop & put in a fancy wrapper which was nearly £16. I didn't realise as this was in my old place & drivers used to !!!!! about bringing the shopping upstairs  . CS told me I should've checked at the time, & when I said I was going to bring it back to store they said they wouldn't accept it. They did refund in the end, but rather grudgeingly.0

When you give your substitions back to your driver do you get a refund to your card straight away as when I did it it took a month to show up, so now I don't return substitions.
Why would you substitute full sugar robinsons juice for reduced calorie, particularly where also in the order is diet coke.0 -
I live 'out in the sticks' in a very rural area and have been using Tesco home delivery for about 3 years mainly because Asda and Sainsbury didn't deliver out our way. Have been reasonably pleased with Tesco but find that certain days are terrible for stuff not being available, for instance specific bread. Last time I got no fresh green veg at all as sprouts, broccoli and cabbage wasn't available according to the receipt! Can you believe they had no greens they could send instead???? We certainly didn't manage our 5-a-day that day.
Now Asda has started delivering round here and I've tried it twice. Excellent in every way, including cheaper delivery than Tesco (that's if I can't manage to spend as much as the minimum spend needed for some of the free-delivery codes:( .) They put any subs in a bag with a very noticeable 'substitutions' tag on the handle so it is very easy to see what's what. Also, the drivers are much more friendly and helpful. I ordered several Smartprice items and as they didn't have them available in-store at the time they were packing my order I was sent regular versions at no extra charge. I suspect Tesco would have just sent nothing!0
