If anybody just took a single teamorder that was outstanding this morning for a big group - im sure you know which group i'm referring to - I accidentally let it expire when I have just finished writing 1500 words for it. This is a longshot, but if you'd be willing to release it for me that'd be kind; it's so annoying to have wasted all that time.0

Hello everyone! Very pleased to find this thread because sometimes it can feel like a lonely existence writing at home. Good to see other UK Textbroker writers here.
I've been on Textbroker UK since August, but it's only when I was made a 4 star writer that I tried to make a go of it. I've written 31 articles so far, with 1 direct order. Thought I'd pimp out my profile by adding a photo but it hasn't made any difference. Wrote an article for one guy, he seemed over the moon with the thing, said he'd want more, but haven't heard from him since. To add to my dejection yesterday and today the open order system has been almost completely dead despite watching it like a hawk. Seemed busier a few weeks ago. I really want more direct orders.
So, a few questions on improving article counts.
Have you added writing samples to your profile? Did that make much difference?
I can see a bunch of teams that are open for application. Are there any active ones on there? (I applied to one but got no response)
In a bid for more direct orders, I have messaged clients that have given me good ratings. So far, nothing has materialised from this strategy. The one direct order I got was from a guy I didn't message. What has worked for you?
And lastly, has it been busy over the last few months? Or was it busier before the new year? I have an irrational fear that one day there will be no need for new content, since all of the things that could possibly be written have been.0 -
Hi jimjamspread, welcome to the forum. I've been on Textbroker about the same time as you. I've had a 3 or 4 direct orders, all from the same client. When I initially wrote for this client, it said this was a trial for a bigger project. They must have liked what I wrote as they sent contacted me and asked if I could do some big orders for them, which were great and helped pay for Christmas for us.
Since January, I've mainly been working on Team Orders. I joined all the teams that I could, although have 3 applications that are just sitting waiting from months ago. I've only seen orders for 2 of the teams, both of which have had sporadic amounts available. I don't do huge numbers of articles, I tend to do several in one go then have a break for a couple of weeks.
I know other posters have had success with messaging clients who gave them good feedback for future direct orders, seems worth a try anyhow. I haven't put any writing samples in my profile but again it seems like a positive step and might help.0 -
I've also recently signed up but the number of open order is very alarming.
3* orders are zero and there are only two 4* ones as I type.
I really can't see how anyone can drag themselves out of a 3* level if there are no orders for people to complete.
I also believe many 4*'ers also snap up 3* projects when they can making it even more competitive. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Thanks so much for this, I love writing so hopefully this will come in useful, I will give it a whirl and I hope it is successful.2013 WINS - Nothing yet, fingers crossed for me and everybody else! :j0

In answer to your first 3 questions:- No, no and no!
I added (my very best!) photo and writing samples
I applied to teams and had no response
I messaged clients who said my writing was "fantastic" to thank them and to say how much I enjoyed writing their articles (not exactly true in some cases ............!)
Have I had any response at all............. NO!:rotfl:
Occasionally it is very busy, but look closer and it usually turns out that nearly every order has some connection with online gambling - no matter what category it is in. It amazes me that they even manage to sneak gambling into the Education category!:D0 -
I'd love to see what the 5-star requests are like. I love to write about travel and there are two articles there that I bet I could do. I'm 4-star and have written 4 articles so far, all accepted without any revisions. There isn't much in 4-star at the moment though unless you're a sports whizz or French.0

Hmmmm your responses seem to agree with my impression that it's all about the luck of the draw really with who gets direct orders and who doesn't then. Then again, maybe I'm just not working hard enough
I've fared a bit better today. Not in terms of quantity, only done 1 article so far, but it was an interesting one about wildlife that I enjoyed. I actually had fun writing it! And I didn't have to convince someone about that their house would burn down and they need home insurance! YES :j
Hows everyone else faring today? I've decided to expand my horizons a little by registering on oDesk but the competition from Asia seems pretty fierce. Some of the clients are a bit iffy and demanding too, one was trying to charge $2 per hour for articles written in perfect English. An absolute joke!
In contrast, that's why I think the Textbroker system is so good. There are defined rules and limitations that mean no one is short changed. Just wish there was more work!0 -
Since doing 6 very similar 500 word articles for 15 Euros each I seem to have lost all motivation for the site, probably because I know that was a very fortunate series of direct orders.
Oh well, I may return one day soon when the day job doesn't require quite so much attention.0
