I am currently writing an article, which when I accepted it, thought I understood the keyword requirements, but on looking at it for the hundreth time, have now confused myself about what the client actually wants. I have sent him/her a message but am concerned about him not replying and me missing the deadline. I could e mail Vicky too, but she does not always reply straight away. Is there a kind person on here I could PM and get a second opinion please?

The instructions can be very ambiguous.

I have written several where I have been unsure of what was actually required, in fact, I have contacted a client today to ask for clarification of a point.

I have also had a dreadful one where (after several messages flying back and forth!) it turned out the client didn't really want anything remotely connected to the article title!

Generally, I find the client replies very quickly. Why not ask for an extension of the deadline if you are worried. I don't know if that is appropriate, but the worst they can say is no.

Just finish it and submit it. The client cannot reject it without giving you at least one chance to amend it. If request for revision is reasonable, revise and resubmit. If their demands are unreasonable, you escalate it to TB admin.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and input from here. I did not get a response from the client before the deadline so I amalgamated everyone's advice and sent it anyway.

I have now heard back from the client (over a day later), and he wants it revising. As googler says, I will do it once and then if there is still a probem, I will go back to admin.

Does the revision (when considered with the original instruction) seem reasonable? If it's totally off-whack at the moment, you can consider reporting it to TB straight off, or you can merely cancel the assignment, and return it to the Open Orders pool for someone else to pick up.

You've got to consider if it's worth your time to do it.

You can also rate the instructions low, but a couple of times I did that, I got 'average' rating back from the client, which I still think was a reprisal action to my rating them ...

    Hi Googler
The revision request was much better written than the original instructions. I amended the article and also wrote the client a note, saying that I had queried the original instructions but had received no reply. I must have shamed him, as it has now been accepted (but no rating or comment from him) I wonder if admin got on to him anyway as I had also alerted them when I sent it the first time.

It seems that there's one client, virttually, supporting TB at the moment. Vast majority of what's available today from that one client; if he/she wasn't there, there'd be nowt ...
  • Hmmm, I agree. There's loads of orders up for us 4* people but I've not seen anything for 3* and below in days.

We should have an unwritten rule where no-one 4* or above should touch anything 3*. Otherwise how are they supposed to progress!
  • How is everyone? :) Can I please PM someone with a query? Thanks

Even if you have a 'rule' here, it won't stop any TB author who isn't on this forum....

and what would be the incentive for those at 4 or 5 star to help the 3 star make 'progress' ... ?

True, but the main incentive for not touching 3 star articles as a 4 star writer is that it's quite a noticeable pay drop! Even if it's a subject I like, I avoid 3 stars because of the price difference. I imagine most 4 star writers do the same.
