How much do personally you set per word for direct orders?

I'm waiting on my first article assessment at the moment and hoping I don't get less than 4* as that's what my entrance text set me at.

I've set it at the minimum which is 1.5 a word, I think. I'd go lower, but the system won't allow it.
  • Articles coming back into the pool could be rejects or time-outs, but also authors cancelling, too. I've thrown stuff back into the pool when I've found myself totally uninspired once I get going on a piece. I remember one where I was supposed to be encouraging readers to visit a certain county, only to realise I couldn't even convince myself to go after doing the research :D

On that point - is a record kept of how many times we send unfinished articles back to the pool? I've done it a couple of times for the same reasons as you (and had one timeout as I forgot!). Don't want it to affect my rating.

I read somewhere on their site that it doesn't affect your rating if you return articles to the pool. Not sure about timeouts though.

Pretty sure it doesn't affect anything, but I'm not sure what the clients can see in terms of author profiles. If you're running out of time, you can release an order back to the pool and then go back and accept it again (it comes up saying 'Warning you can only accept this order one more time', or something). It will give you an extra day, or whatever the deadline is.

I don't like doing it, as I'm pretty sure the clients don't like it, but I have had to do it a few times when I've half completed an order in the morning and don't get back to it in time. If you do this, just make sure you save whatever you've done to a word document before you release the order to the pool! Textbroker won't keep it saved to the system when you go back and accept it again.

How long do you guys generally take doing a 500 worder?

I've signed up and had my initial submission rated as 3*. I've been looking at the 3* jobs that have come in, without taking any yet - they seem to expect a helluva lot (in terms of research, links etc) considering they're only paying you about £3!

I did one earlier in about half an hour because I had a fairly good idea of the subject already. Just looked through the website for 5 minutes to learn about the company and started typing. Once I get writing it flows pretty easily.
  • Both of the ones I've done so far have been about twenty or so minutes for 400+ words, but then the client had provided similar style text to base on and the research required was slight.

While waiting for TB to get some more 3* jobs up, are there any other similar sites (not opinion surveys) that are worth exploring? I saw Vivatic but the reviews aren't great for the writing side of it.

I've been a bit busy for Vivatic lately, but having passed their writing test a while back, I'm eligible to write and just picked up a few jobs.

I took three jobs, all based on surveys and working from home (which being an MSEr, i'm prepared to write!) and they all pay £10 each which is fantastic. They've nuked the survey payouts and gone from weekly to monthly payments in arrears, but the money for writing is still there if you can get in. :)

As for TextBroker, I've just burned out a 1100 article in 50 minutes for my job due by 10am this morning and I love it. :D

EDIT: I can see why people want to reach the 5* rating. The jump in payment from 4* to 5* is from 6Euros for 500 words to 20Euros.. Wow.

Catriona, as everyone says, it's okay to cancel jobs it doesn't affect your ratings or anything. Natu - I'd be wary of cancelling to to re-apply too often. Though that does work, and as you say may upset customers, it's also frowned upon by TB. Just saying watch your back if it becomes to look like a pattern on your account.

As to how long it takes to write a piece, well usually half an hour or so - once the reserach is done and I have something to say. I usually get throuh about three a day, but that's limited as much by what's available - I never touch cars, fashion or shopping as they all bore me rigid :D And I don't dip into the 3* pool, as I don't think that's fair. I've found certain customers put up similar things on a regular basis which are right up my street, so I try to catch those each time.

Has anyone looked at the articles in the 'Other' category today? :o:o:o:eek:

Typical Thursday morning, about 20 Euros-worth waiting to be accepted when I want to press that big 'Pay Me' button :D

I have looked at those too haha. I avoided claiming them as, though I don't doubt I'd be able to write them with some research, I've been using my lunch break at work to write some articles and the kind of sites I'd need to research wouldn't be great for work :P

I've submitted two articles so far and they've been accepted within a couple of hours - do they sometimes take longer? Can you request a payout when you've been credited the money, but the articles are still waiting to be evaluated by TB?
