Hi, hope everyone is getting to enjoy some sunshine. We finally made it out the house today now that my back has eased up. First time in over 2 weeks, cabin fever had set in and it was so good to get out. We set off for some chips by the sea and after encountering road closed signs and missing the correct turn off for the diversion route went on a magical mystery tour. Relying on our sense of direction it took longer and we went on some tiny windy roads, but I enjoyed our adventure and it was such a tonic to be out and about. We had a map but it was far more fun not to use it. We know the village names and their general proximity to each other, but it did get me thinking about compasses so will be getting one that I can read without using my reading glasses. Anyway we finally got to our destination and shared a portion of fish and chips and I couldn't resist checking out the small hardware store next to the car park. such an Alladins cave of goodies. I left grinning with 2 parafin lamps and a 1m of wick all for £10.57 which seemed a bargain. Stopped off and got 4 ltrs of parafin for £6.49 before we got home. my oh couldn't wait to test them but one leaks  He's now filled the other one to check it ( perhaps we'll have to have another afternoon at the seaside and take them back).

My other exciting purchase today is a Draper 4 in 1 mini screwdriver for just £1.49 (most will think me bonkers or sad but I know you lot will understand) delivered with my ocado shopping along with an AA folding snow shovel £7.49 :D The screwdiver is for my handbag and the shovel for the car/prep kit :D

Right off to catch up now, just needed to share my excitement and purchases.

I think poor MAR is much maligned on the chocolate front, I'm sure she would be very restrained and as she has the required tasting experience I feel she would be the ONLY suitable candidate for the position. In fact I have it on very good authority that the next fashion for chocolate will be bars that have a homespun and nibbled appearance, purely design of course, how could it possibly be anything else??? I'm sure she will forgive you all for having doubts, if you pay her enough in chocolate for recompense of course!!! and let her have the Chip Shop!!!

Can we come to the island too please. I could bring toilet rolls I only have 186, but it's a start. I can cook and create meals from limited stocks and have a really yummy choccy cake to share :D Cakes one of my speciallities, one always needs cake after all, and tea obviously. I can give indian head massages and a bit of reflexology. I'm not bad in the veggie garden and adaptable, will have a go at most things. Good listener and a diplomat. Oh is good with wood and makes furniture. He also makes amazing bread.
Just let us know where and when.
  • I'm beginning to think we could tackle another planet, not just an island, what an amazing abundance of skills are being offered by posters and Oh's, as long as we can settle the chocolate question, or I fear there might, only might be CARNAGE!!!

Perhaps the poster who admitted not liking chocolate (sorry, too lazy this evening to read back) should be put in charge of chocolate stores, and armed ... but we would have to agree a daily ration.
I did make some chocolate muffins today, using two old bananas, lots of cocoa powder and - my little twist - some chopped up chilli chocolate. They are divine!
  • can i be sheriff on this island? , my weapon of choice would be pump action water rifle, might need another sheriff though ... as i could be bribed with family pack of maltesers:) back from a late nothing i fancied in freezer apart from chips ... found a tin of korma in my preps ... used hollands pie empty foil to hold korma and threw in oven with the chips.... horrors only half bottle of diet coke left:(

Daz I know that feeling I ran out of diet coke, so a long night with nothing to look forward too :( I have resigned myself to the fact that I cannot stock up on diet coke, its one of those impossible maths puzzles 'how many cans of diet coke can one woman consume in any 24 hour period?' So no more multi packs, if I need a can I have to have hard cash and get changed, put shoes on and walk to corner shop. Unbelievably this is a good deterrent as I hate the rigmarole of changing my clothes etc, dont mind the walk tho :D

Siegemode you are most definately needed on said island, even more, dare I say it, than chocolate, as an Indian head massage is my idea of heaven.
