Can I come to the island too please. I can't do too much heavy work on account of the dodgy back but I'm happy to stand on the sidelines and shout instructions! I can make decent bread, know which way up to plant a seed potato and can help diagnose all the inevitable mental health problems! :rotfl:0

Can I come? I have hairdressing scissors and a home made cape. I'm not a qualified hairdresser but grew up surrounded by them so I can do a decent trim unless the style is complicated. Used to do simple trims at Uni in exchange for chocolate, as well as one attempt at long to short cut which was ok but not great.
I can also cook well, amuse kids and keep the unruly ones under some sort of control, as well as being a good listener. I can gut and scale a fish and would be keen to learn how to dress other meats. I can change a tyre and exhaust and have a very basic level of mechanical workshop skills. I can write pretty well when I put my mind to it - most things from poetry to formal letters. I can generally turn my hand to most things - if it's not something I've done before or trained in I am a quick learner.
Partner is a computery whizz and also good in the workshop. She can fly a helicopter so if we needed emergency transport to and from the mainland that would be good. She can also turn her hand to most things and is a good cook, plus very keen on preserving and home brew type things. We have managed to grow some of our own food in the past, though we are not particularly good at it yet. Gave up the allotment last year when we thought we were moving to another town, just before the job in that town went belly up...Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
Hmmmmm - thinking of arming another person to guard the chocolate stores eh .... OK THIS MEANS WAR !
I'll set up my own island. A vegetables prohibited island.:cool: So there!0 -
I am up for the island life too - shall we call it the Isle of Plan? xBlah0

If MAR gets cross enough about the possible challenge to her position as chocolate wrangler it should be the Isle of DUCK............... and run!!!!!!! I'm fairly certain she wouldn't hold back anything when armed with wet KALE!!!!!0

pehaps we would need another island to keep the men on! My friend always said they should be kept in a cupboard and only brought out when DIY needed, heavy lifting or one other use!!!
Yeah, it's such a nuisance when there's a spider in the bath or a jar lid being awkward and there's no bloke in the house, isn't it?
Can I have a chip shop?Course you can, pet; so long as you help plant and harvest the tatties.

Should we have a constitution or just a bill of rights? I was thinking of the right to bear rolling pins being enshrined in statute, and Cake Day being a national holiday; Cake Day could replace Monday which is always a bit of a PITA in my experience.
I am bouncing up and down at the thought of a few more hours saltmining then a fab three days in a row playing on the allotmentino. I shall plant leeks. Among other things. I have had the following experiences with leeks on successive years.
1st year; transplanted them into the bed on Sun aft, all beautiful, 80 plants, came up Mon aft, some bu88er with size 12 boots had jumped all over the bed and about 2 survived (I catch you and you die, mate )
2nd year; very droughty. Didn't germinate. Got some to transplant from a neighbouring plot holder; all died. So did his (roots infested with a grub)
3rd year; lost will to live, bad drought then plague of slugs. Since when do slugs have to eat onions and leeks?
4th year - ta dah! Leeks in 2013 will be splendiferous, I'm thinking to myself. Fingers crossed.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
