I never go anywhere without double supply of my medicines so am surprised that the diabetic was not more prepared?

Is there any reason to believe he wasn't prepared? :) Even with a good supply of food and insulin, people with diabetes can still fall ill quite quickly. ;)

Beautiful day here and no sign of any stormy weather yet. Forecast is for a bit of wind and rain for the next few days and I'm inclined to believe it. :) I'm happy for any excuse to stay by the stove with my knitting for a few days. :D

so sorry to read about what I am sure was more than a pet with your cat WLL.

I have rightly or wrongly started to get a little concerned about my own health problems having kidney disease and what I can/should eat. So though I may dislike what I will hear I think I will ask questions again of my consultant. I don't want to speed up any deterioration quicker than it needs to be...I found out the other day that if you survive and don't reach end stage failure often kidney patients go with heart disease...

He has always been happy or given the impression I am doing ok but you always wonder if you are being protected until one day he has to take you to one side and give not such good news...I just eat small portions and try to mainly eat a variety of what is healthy food(mainly veg, fruit, fish and chicken)and no or very little red meat, alcohol, diary items...

So I am trying to live for the day and be positive. As I could be worrying unnecessarily. No one knows what the future holds for any of us. But this would be my personal SHTF.

So it could be that this person caught in the jam caused by the snow still needed help even if as ready as he could be...and still was vulnerable.

  • WLL so sorry to hear about your poor pusscat, hope you all come to terms with the loss quickly, it does leave a big gap in your everyday life when a much loved part of the family isn't there any more, very sad. Your wine sounds lovely, well done for being so industrious in the autumn!!!

BITTER AND TWISTED so sorry that you have had the rug pulled out from under your feet, can only hope and pray that something better happens for you very soon, Hugs coming your way, Lyn xxx.

I am sorry about the job being pulled from under you and fingers crossed that something comes up quickly for you.

So sorry about the loss of a much loved part of the family.

We had about four inches of snow last night but fortunately no one was out in it.

Family really pleased with the tear and share bread I made last night as it proved really well in a low oven. I did not have any olives, sun dried tomatoes etc so just spread a little chilli sauce very thinly before rolling it up and cutting.

Does anyone else notice there seem to be fewer YS items just now?

Hug to all and stay safe and warm.

Just had some home made gluten free sandwich bread...still hot from the breadmaker I cut off the very crunchy crusts and put tinned sardines on...now I know what heaven tastes like......

Yes of course - I am sorry if I gave a negative impression. I will remove my original comment. Not quite sure what came over me

B and T sorry about the job, OH was made redundant twice in the last 3 years and is now self employed, with a buisiness building nicely and is happier than when he had to do all that commuting.

WLL sorry about your puss, whilst mine aren't like kids to me they are part of the family and I have a little cry when I have lost one and will be upset if anything happens to the 2 we have now.

Got a phone call early this morning from MIL and FIL, they had been called into the hospital at 4 am as BIL took a turn for the worst. But by the time they got there he had stablised a bit so they waited to call us until they saw the Dr. Basically they said he is going into multi organ failure and they don't hold out much hope.

So we went in this morning, whilst we were there the alarms kept going off and they kept prodding and poking him and adding drugs etc. The specialist eventually came to see us. He doesn't hold up much hope and said with an older patient he would advise they look at that "pathway" thing. But as he is only young they want to give him one last chance as his organs-especially his heart might just get through. So more blood and more dialysis and they will see how he is tomorrow and consider where to go then.

They say what was left of his pancreas after the op has continued to die and they think he has little or no function in it at all, and it appears that when the op was done they had to take massive amounts of intenstine and bowel away, his kidneys and liver are showing signs of failure and they believe he has sustained some degree of brain damage. So even if he survives he will be quite disabled so not good all in all.

The nurses and Dr's were lovely but the ward is such a horrible place, alarms going off, patients being resusitated and just a terrible feeling of waiting for something to happen.

OH then went on a splurge to Mr S and got a miss mud pie, cheesecake and plenty of cream, for a treat and some pepsi (we usually stick to the cheapy stuff lol) so we can have some more comfort food tonight.

We all had a little cry and a lot of hugs around his bed and I think we all know he may be on his last days now so at least ev1 is ready, but its so sad. Most of us have already bought his BD card for week after next and it looks like he won't even make that.

Sorry if I am bringing the thread down I love this thread and the fab chats ev1 has and somehow it helps to put things down in writing.

So hope no one gets flooded and the storms pass us by without too much trouble, keep safe preppers.

  • ALI we all are with you, holding you and yours in our hearts and minds. It is such a sadness when someone so young passes away needlessly, and you can say what you feel here and we will understand your hurt and sorrow. I hope and pray that your Brother in Law has no pain, and feel he is being cared for by the professionals and yourselves to a very high degree. We are here for you too, and if it helps you to express feelings to us, it is a privilege to be able to listen. All of us will be sending you love and caring and strength to cope whatever the outcome and who knows, he might just pull through. Hugs to you and yours and we will be here for you when you need us, Love Lyn xxx.

Can't add to that MrsL. I'm not very good at expressing these things so I'll just say 'seconded'!
