I believe also that collectively we are an awful lot stronger than standing alone and we are all supporting each other here, it makes me warm inside to see how everyone is valued, consoled, given help and guidance whenever they are having problems or crises' You are brilliant, each and every one of you, proud to be a part of something so good!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
Three cheers for the batty brigade! :T
  • Thanks WESTCOASTSCOT I didn't mean it to be anything but a rallying call amidst the gloom and doom that is everyday thrust at us by the media!!! Me I'm an optimist and I believe in people, I believe we are all a lot stronger than we think and I believe that we are much better at floating and surviving than we are at giving in and sinking. Lynn it was just what I needed - things are getting tougher personally, and in my work I support vulnerable adults to access their rights and it's getting really tough for many of those - it's just been one of those weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!

We now have about 2 inches of snow and it's falling in 50 pence sized flakes, it's so beautiful, quiet and lovely.... especially looking at it through the window with the heating on.

When I have to go out in it tomorrow, I think my romanticism may falter.

    ginnyknit,

I used to be an awful night worrier. I would sometimes have to get up and make a brew and have about a packet of fags to wrestle with one thing or another. I ended up wore out and depressed the next day, usually still with that rotten unsettled feeling still going on.

I don't know how it started, but I decided that bed was going to be my 'worry oasis' and my place of calm, no worrying was going to be allowed in there. I gave myself permission to worry to the max in the day, but it had to stop at bedtime.

It still sometimes tries to put in a sneaky appearance, but generally it did banish the night worrying.

Baltic up here with horrible winds and it's just starting to snow. They said snow in the afternoon but it must be early. This house is pretty draughty in windy weather and the fire roars up the chimney and boils the water, comes out of the tap in steam. We've got the most beautiful icicles hanging from the rones, 18" long and pretty.
I have munched all my sweeties (again!) so will have to endure withdrawal until the weather gets better :) Won't be moving until Mon at least.

Gal, ya got some 'splainin to do. How can you run out of an essential survival item like sweeties when you are a member of a preppers thread???

    Wot is goin on?

I find that bedtime is when all those worry gremlins sneak up on you. I banish them all by putting the bedside radio on a 1 hour timer. I used to have TalkSport on when it was a non sport phone in, when that changed I switched to LBC phone in and since losing the digital signal for LBC, it's been BBC World Service. I am hardly ever awake to hear the radio click off - whatever is on diverts any thoughts and sends me straight to sleep!

Finally we have 'the snow' - an absolute ton of it and coming down thick and fast. In fact we've lost the satellite signal so watching tv on the net. :)

LBC still on here Pineapple(but for how long?)also available on satellite and online...I tend to listen to R5, R4 or World Service a lot and yes Talk Radio until it became Talk Sport. But now I often find radio on the net. Like music radio of a certain type(Sundays Radio 2 9pm-Midnight as an example)

I've started posting favourite music of mine online via a website called This is my Jam but you can listen to so many tunes...I like a voice or quiet music on in the background, it doesn't put me off sleeping...

Here in Yorkshire we have lost the LBC digital signal so I can only get it on my Sky Freesat - or online as you say. Currently listening to the delightful Nick Abbot online as our sat signal has been down for the last couple of hours. It's unbelievable out there - looks like a scene from Day after Tomorrow.
