I have just sent a full scale rant email to the met office, BBC and Sky news.....they all keep playing down the dangerous weather....hence all those hundreds stuck in cars on the M6 last night. One poor diabetic guy was taken ill and had to be rescued by the mountain rescue team when someone traced him with their mobile (Great idea). It infuriates me that amateur storm chasers are using their own money and time to warn everyone what is coming , while the met office and BBC get millions a year and play it down!!! Where is the sense in putting people in danger of losing their lives.

I just watched the Sky news and they are playing down the severe storms and dangerous winds that will come with the three storms that are due for the Uk over the next three days, and I am now well and truly annoyed at them (but not for the first time). So I am sending out messages telling them what I really think of them playing it down when they must know how bad it is from the computer models, which have been showing it for THREE WEEKS!

Now the good news, we have had no rain for three hours and the sun is trying to come out....it may be a bit of a shock to my system LOL

Off to do some gluten free baking then my two hours working online. Will be on later folks.....if you have a break in the weather for a bit of sun enjoy it while you can!

We had a bad day with a lot of snow and drifting and cars on the A7 were crawling. I notice the farms are now sending out tractors to clear short bits, maybe the council are paying them to do that. Teeny slight thaw here and the RV is out playing with his snow shovel again. Not seen the news yet but sounds like the M8 in Glasgow 2 years ago, hundreds stuck in cars overnight.

Late last night I found myself cutting a path across the garden for the dog - the snow was around a foot deep on either side.
It's still deep, I'm still snowed in, dog walking is tiring and you need wellies as opposed to walking boots. But there is evidence of a melt. For the first time in a week the trees are not lacy white, some garden bushes have reappeared and water is trickling down the drainpipe. Plus we have a blue sky and sun!
I'm wondering how my neighbour fared - late afternoon he was driving off on a long journey and I told him he was mad. Firstly it was a social affair and he didn't have to go out. Secondly in our area. we were warned repeatedly on the local news about the extent of the downfall and everyone I know was geared up for it. In fact when we were all saying at 6pm - 'pah it's not happening' - they were saying on the news that it was definitely coming - just a bit later. So while I wouldn't wish my neighbour any harm, I'll have no sympathy if he was one of those stuck for hours on the M6. ;)

    It missed us!!! :T

We were on the very southern edge of what was predicted anyway (S. Staffs) and it seems the warm air won. Bright blue skies here for now, though there is still snow on the ground. OH works for the railways and there was chaos in the N West with power lines coming down and all sorts. Some passengers and staff had to spend the night in a station as they simply couldn't have got out of the door.

My prepping has gone out of hand :o. I hadn't done a "proper" shop since before christmas and went a bit mad. Part of my morning must be spent finding homes for it all.:o Including re-arranging the freezer. I really should have defrosted it while it was so cold outside - I could just have popped the contents outside the back door. Too late. I have to start again with running the contents down.

A nice "home" day for me and DS - OH and DD gone to London. I would rather stay here and clean the kitchen :rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Well, there has been some snow over night, never when I looked out the window. But it is still and calm now. The sun is shining too. Whether it will make any difference is another matter.

I will find out if the buses are running later, also give the theatre a call to see if the concert is still on and the Grimethorpe Collery Band has managed to reach the venue. No good leaving home if it has been called off.

  • You're all going to hate me - ALL OUR SNOW HAS GONE!!!!! If I'm honest we didn't have lots to start with but this morning we have beautiful blue sky and sunshine and I'm not sitting here with 5 layers on like I have been for the past couple of weeks, and it is bloomin georgeous!!!!!!! My lovely DD1 is home for the weekend and we are going to go out to a garden center for a trip and a coffee which will be lovely. I hope all the snow goes really swiftly for you all but not so swiftly that it causes flooding anywhere. Have a nice day everyone and be safe if you have to go out, Cheers Lyn xxx.

It is very worrying Butterfly Brain. Perhaps it has always existed but it does seem a newer aspect of living in the UK and in many ways I don't like or recognise my country anymore. Or maybe it is because I am taking more of an interest and also because but for the grace of god I could be in need of a food bank, to steal, be homeless etc...

And I see it getting worse:(and as has been said many of the cuts and policies have yet to hit.

I could say much more but better not...
