  • The ears, nose, eyes and mouth are all connected by little tubes. You may feel better if you get everything clear and unobstructed though it sounds alot more serious then that. I was thinking of those machines that clear the sinuses but maybe a bowl of steaming water is as good.

I hope that you recover soon. I am so glad that you found your little cat safe and well, especially the cold nights that we have had the last couple of nights x

((((ALI)))) hope you are starting to feel a bit better now. I had labyrinthitus early this year (or was it late last year?). Mine was much much milder than you describe but it started with me falling off an office chair at work, world suddenly started spinning.

It's very distressing to suddenly be all whirly and staggering like a drunk esp when you're out and about. I hope you soon feel much better.

And thank goodness your little cat is safe at home.

I've been bobbling about, having had a little pullabout of my food stores and will have a little more of a pullabout tomorrow. Good to know exactly what you have and where you have it.

Hope everyone is warm and well tonight. GQ xx

Knowing the Housing Association wants to visit has made me rush my tidying up but hopefully it will look ok by the time they visit. Lots to throw out but I was taking my time. But though I am clearing out items, if anyone visited right this minute it really looks a tip.

I had to do a couple of little DIY tasks too...and spend money I could've done without spending but I managed to get some sand paper, brushes, matt emulsion, radiator paint, white spirit, plaster for approx £18 I thought it was going to cost me more than that so I suppose I am pleased. If I can stay put next year I need a new bed, sofa, curtains and carpets but I won't spend until I know what the situation is.

But you know I don't own that much really...some books, CD's, PC, bed, sofa, tv, radio, fridge/freezer, tumble drier and my kitchen gadgets. So really the house is not that cluttered or won't be when I get rid of the clutter that has built up. I agree about it being nice to have space and be able to rech everything easily. Hope I will always have room for my food store.

Hope you feel better soon, Ali. I had labyrinthitis a couple of years ago. It came on suddenly one morning , I had to crawl back to the bed, reach out my hand for the phone ( just moving my head made me sick) and press the button to call DH at work. Thank goodness he was on speed dial as I couldn't have phoned him otherwise.

Mine only lasted a couple of days which was a good thing as the tablets the doctor prescribed gave me terrible indigestion and it hasn't come back.

It was all so frightening as I'd never evem heard of labyrithitis until then so didn't know what was wrong.

(((hugs))) Ali I am onto the third week of what my dr called vertigo. just woke up with it one morning then while working in kitchen, turned around looking up and fell into the larder! It is horrible but it is getting better bit by bit. I have tablets to take but am managing without now, just bad when I lie down and when I sit up! Hope you and I get over it soon! My kids are grown up now so easier for me!

My ex developed Menieres disease and ended up having to retire early. It's another ear/balance condition - he described it like a constant hangover with dizzyness and nausea.
Stay safe in the icy weather folks - the fact that it's normal for this type of year doesn't mean we shouldn't take care. My Veriga ice gripper thingies are already in service. They were quite pricey but it's all unadopted round me and frankly I wouldn't get far from the cottage without them. Even if I had to buy a new pair every year, it's money well spent. I'm at that age where I no longer bounce :(.
It's not particularly glamorous being in pain or having to hang round in casualty for hours or having a limb put out of action. My relatively young neighbour broke her hip earlier this year and is not recovered yet. She is terrified of falling and has just invested in a pair. And a neighbour in his 20s broke his ankle last year - not good seeing as he is a postman! Oldies like me might be more at risk but fractures don't just happen to older people. ;)

We've got snow warnings out for tonight and tomorrow morning, to be followed by icy rain - so the roads will be a no go area for the day. I trying to get the RV to nip up to the shops today - we usually go mondays - and he says he cant be bothered!
Meanwhile I've decided to come off the no-sugar diet and I HAVE NO SWEETIES!!:eek::eek:
  • Oh goodness, huge sympathy to all with labyrynthitis/vertigo. I had a nasty bout about 15 years ago as part of a post-viral "episode" (for want of a better word) and it was grim; although the seasickness pills the doc prescribed did help enormously with balance & nausea, it didn't stop my legs feeling like jelly, my vision being extremely blurry or the agonising shooting pains across my scalp. It started after recovering from a vicious sore throat, when I fell into my own washing basket whilst pegging stuff out on the line, was "acute" for about 6 weeks and came back every time I picked up a cough or cold for about 2 years. At least by then I knew what it was and that it would pass eventually, but I do wish I'd known earlier that giving in and resting for half an hour or so through an attack would help it pass quicker. Mind you, the kids were aged 3 through to 10, so I didn't have much chance! Fingers crossed it passes quickly for all of you...

Winter wonderland down here this morning - deep frost, with the sun slanting through golden mist & glittering on the frozen cobwebs. For the first time this autumn, the fallen leaves are actually crunching underfoot, but they'll be squelching again later! Warm water put out for the birds, and lots of nuts, seeds etc. in the feeders, but there still seem to be fewer little ones in the garden this morning. Which probably means that the fieldfare is back & chasing everyone else off, except the bantams. He does try, but they're still bigger than him!

  • just been mooching on the bay, and i tapped in preppers in the search bar...

looks as though sellers are cottoning on to this...with survival kits, fire/flint starter kits etc... they are even starting to use the word on old gardening books,
