Mrs L, I should be genuinely sorry to see you leave. However several people are no longer posting because they feel they have upset you and you have threatened to leave on more than one occasion.
New Shadow no longer posts, VJ's Mum reads but doesn't post, and Lobbyludd has also said she will withdraw.
For myself, I feel we can disagree without either of us needing to feel we can no longer post. This is emphatically not a clique. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
I can't help thinking that there'd be mileage in distilling all the wit & wisdom contained in this thread into, say, an E-book? A whole lot of work, too, but it would save newcomers to the idea of prepping wading through 2000-odd pages of quirky asides and occasional spats to get at the good stuff.
In fact I'd do it myself but - I'm a tad busy right now...! And I have a feeling we probably all are...Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
That would be a brilliant idea Angie. A lot of people suggested carrying over useful links so I did add Vanoonoo's first post which has some links. But I think we all learned as we went along.
Maybe if people are looking back at the thread and they come across particular gems they could flag up the specific post Do people think that would work?It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Hmm. Other than these people?
I'm one of those you quoted implying that I want this thread to end. To give that context all I was saying is that as a new thread on the same subject has been started then this one should be closed as it is unwieldy and the forum team always wanted big threads shut. I'm not calling for the end of the Preppers thread. I'm suggesting the continuation of it. It's how it always was on MSE.MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »Not entirely love, lots of regulars seem to be missing, enjoy your new thread!
Mrs L I confess to being confused by your stance. If there are regulars missing they went missing before the new thread was started. If you look back at this thread there are several people who say they are bowing out for a while. You said it yourself a couple of times!
I think, as a new thread is probably needed anyway due to forum rules, we should embrace new posters. It is much easier for all the regular posters to continue to post on a new thread than it is for new posters to jump into an established and very long thread where everyone knows eachother surely?
I've said it over and over. This thread will not disappear. All the info will still be here. I'm afraid I'm just at a loss as to why this is even an issue for you. Surely preppers should be a welcoming bunch who adapt to changes and work as a team?Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
Mary my dear girl, what I do should have no relevance whatsoever to anyone else posting or not posting. I would hate it if people were not posting because I suggest I might not play any longer, we are adults and surely can make up our own minds on something as basic as that. Please if anyone isn't posting for that reason keep on posting!
I have no objection to your new thread, I applaud the fact that you decided to set it running, enjoy it and I hope it will be a useful tool in peoples plans for preparing in any way they feel is appropriate. All the folks posting on both get the best of both.
If I choose not to, that really is only of concern to me. You must all live your lives and decide an what is appropriate action for yourselves. If you think any of this is a competition or feel that any of us own a thread in a proprietory way than I'm truly sorry as for myself that really isn't so. I will be sad as I've said before to loose the accumulated knowledge that is on the old thread, it would be so very useful if we do actually find ourselves in need of it and in an archive it will ultimately be forgotten, a waste of resource material.
You don't need my blessing in your new launch but you have it anyway.0 -
Good morning to Lyn and JKO and any others reading this morning . I think rightly or wrongly according to your take on things that the events yesterday felt to some of us rather like a mini coup . It is really rather impolite to impose a takeover out of the blue , I am aware there had been some talk recently about a possible new thread at some point but I personally do not feel the idea had the agreement of most of the thread members .
As Pineapple has said why could the new thread have not been renumbered as a continuation of this one ? there are examples of this happening across the forums .
The eu vote is not to blame for what has happened over the last few weeks here . People were unsure of the future and as in families and the workplace emotions were raw and tongues were sometimes a bit sharp . To my knowledge there was no true nastiness we do try to treat others with the courtesy we would hope for personally .
I hope some resolution can come about but I feel I have been uprooted from my home and offered an identical property which is not " my home "
I hope no one feels offence at my post and if in fact New Shadow and others feel unhappy here then I feel sad to discover that . I enjoyed what seemed to me normal banter with NS and miss her take on things . I have already mentioned how much I enjoyed Lobbys posts and as in various parts of the uk I feel as if a little family group has been torn apart .

Oh you don't get rid of me that easyi have the odd huff, but am far too opinionated to sit on it.
i just assumed the new thread was the continuation of this one, with the same people and hopefully a few new ones. I haven't the time to follow two......I wanna be in the room where it happens0
