We are going through a time of change, which can be exciting or worrying, depending on your personality and your personal circumstances.

A history-making referendum that was a good thing in the sense of making more people take an interest in our electoral system (hope they keep up the interest in general elections)

A result that means change for us all, some good, some maybe not so good.

Old established politicians making way for new blood.....hopefully with fresh ideas for taking our country forward through the difficult and uncertain times ahead.

Sometimes we trundle along in our lives, same old, same old.....then suddenly the Fickle Finger of Fate starts changing everything. Whether we have one thread or two threads or twenty two threads, we are all preppers in our own way, and it will take more than a period of change in the country to defeat us.

Far from it. It's nice to see several new people on the continuation thread, I do think it helps people to come out of lurkdom if you don't think you need to read back too far
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

That's the fundamental difference in thinking, this old hairy hoary threads existence IS the back pages because it's not just social chit chat it's an information manual packed with useful stuff. If you don't see that the purpose of the prepping thread is to keep in the public domain 'old fashioned' useful and alternative ways of doing things and to record them before the older generation who know how to do them dies off you've just got a light hearted everyday place to hang out with your pals. Nothing wrong with that at all and everyone will enjoy it BUT it's NOT about prepping then and perhaps that's why we ought to keep this one going.

That's only my take on things, no one elses!

MrsLW no one wants this thread to end the new one was intended to be a continuation of this one (usually when a thread reaches a certain length a new one is created with a link to the previous one on the first page)
I think the reason for the unrest about starting a newer one is because quite a few people had differing views over what they wanted from the referendum. So it's seen almost as a separation of the leaves and the remains.
I made no secret of the fact I was and still am a leave BUT the result has left a lot of people uneasy and however it came out there would be some who disagreed. As it happens the leaders have all had major fall outs and made more of a mess of the transition than it needed to be. We will be in a starte of flux for a few years yet so another thread may be needed before we get to the conclusion of the journey.

I do hope everyone can post on either if there ae to be two threads or when the mods decide it's time we can all unite on one again.

I'm off to work now so will catch up later.

    Hmm. Other than these people?
Maryb if you pm Zippychick and ask her to lock the old thread then that should make it clear that there is a new tougher thread. That's what's always happened before.

I'm not a naïve old ducky my friends I do understand progress and I DO understand that a new thread about prepping should be a continuation of this one!

Close this one and stay on the new edition if that's unanimous decision by all contributors then so be it but I doubt I'm the only person feeling a degree of sadness at losing the friendship and camaraderie that we have had here. Do as you wish.

I think as of now I'm not a collective prepper, I'll do my own thing!
