Preparedness for when

Bimbling around the OS threads today I've come across several folks saying they've had a little read of the prepping thread because of the referendum result on Thursday, firstly welcome in to all of you, I hope you are finding useful and pertinent information amongst our ramblings and practical things to do that will make you feel a little more secure. There is also lots of really good practical advice on the PREPARING FOR WINTER thread, the latest of several which may help allay anxieties. We are fairly pragmatic as preppers and all prep to a greater or lesser degree according to what we each as individuals are prepping for. I have a worry about losing electricity and have based lots of my preps on getting us set up so that if the power is out life carries on relatively normally. We have the woodstove and I've learned to cook on it, limited dishes but enough to see us fed. I've invested in solar lighting and candles in order to be able to read or work in the darkness hours, I've a healthy food store and we have the garden and allotment which have standing crops like beetroot, parsnips, cabbages through the winter for fresh produce. All these things will be useful in many scenarios as well as possible disruptions caused by changes IF we do leave the EU.
If you want information please feel free to ask us, someone WILL have the answer to your question likewise if you have ideas please feel free to share them, we're always delighted to have new knowledge and ideas in the mix, that helps everyone.0 -

Anyone seen this? A nice, simple thing to do
Thank you for that artical VJsmum, I'v shared it on my face ache page, but as a word of courtion I don't think us on the preppers thread should arange a meet up just yet seeing as we tend to use safty pins to let others know we use the old style board, can you imagine the looks some people would give us when we get the sandwhiches, flasks and knitting out:eek:£71.93/ £180.000 -

I WANT MY SUMMER BACK!!I'm really sorry but I fear the loss of summer may be attributed to me. Y'see, after several years of not even owning a pair of sandals, I decided to buy a pair last month. They're pink and have been worn outdoors twice (and rained on once).
This weather pattern set in about the time of my purchase. I know it wouldn't satisfy the scientific mind, correlation not being proof of causation and all that jazz, but I still feel as if I blighted the barely-born summer in its cradle.;) Please accept my 'umblest apologies (says she with a dripping brolly in her hall, damp hair and wet shoes).
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Summer? What's that then? Is it code for some seldom encountered seasonal phenomenon?
Should I be prepping for it????

There is no Remain party. The vast majority of MPs stated they preferred Remain.
Political commentators were suggesting two weeks ago that Theresa May had played a very careful game that would appeal to either side when it came to leadership elections. (If Remain had won, Cameron would still have been stepping down, though probably not for another year.)
There is no leave majority in either of the main political parties and only MPs (MP and MEPs) can nominate from within their own ranks for the leadership. The eventual vote goes to party members. (in the Labour Party, the voters are full party members, Trade Union, affiliated members - registered Trade Union members and members of certain affiliated socialist societies - and registered supporters.I'm really sorry but I fear the loss of summer may be attributed to me. That's a risky admission in the current climate
Does causation cause correlation though?
Its hardly unusual to be fairly wet during Wimbledon fortnight though.0 -
My Dh said as soon as Theresa May went quiet and disappeared into the shadows that She was waiting to reappear when a leadership was in the offing as she hadn't nailed her colours to either mast so could claim either way.
Just back from work, think it went well. I'll find out officially tomorrow.SPC~12 ot 124
