  • All racism is WRONG and unkind, stupid, unnecessary and illegal. Whatever colour, race, creed, orientation, we are all human and we are all equally precious and have as much right to live and thrive as any other member of the species. There has been much media meddling over immigrants and people who work in the UK but are not British and it has and is fuelling these morons who are being so utterly disgusting in their behaviour. I don't care about colour, race, creed or orientation I care about people , all people, I hope each and every one who says, acts on or thinks racist thoughts will be duly chastised and taught the error of their ways!

Still reading.....back to it.....and my "wondering" has just got stronger re Stephen Crabb.

"Draws a lot of disparate strands together" is the phrase in my mind to date. Scottish mother. Elected Wales as his "home country". Definitely working class background. Personal support from rather "aristocratic" types on the other hand. ......and his University degree was in marketing..... Could be seen as "conciliator" type candidate. Has had the sense to pre-plan/announce re who his Chancellor would be..hmmm...(and the nationality of the person concerned too - ie Indian by the name...). French wife....A lot of cards in line...the "Kate Middleton" of politics (ie life planned from Year Dot).

    The plot thickens...

Back to the reading - and had better read up on the other candidates for that position and see what I make of them.

Goldiegirl, I think a lot of people voted out for different reasons and they will therefore want different things out of the exit. Neanderthals will never get what they want which seems to be the complete vaporisation of anyone without pale skin - and even then they take exception to celts.

But looking at the rest of the Brexit spectrum, I think if Cameron had got a meaningful deal a lot of people, myself included, would have voted to stay even though that deal would still have been far from perfect (ECJ etc).
But even if there is such a deal offered belatedly, and that seems to be what Cameron is now hinting at, if it follows an out vote then I think a lot of people will see it as a betrayal who might have accepted it before.

I have always assumed that we would end up in the European Economic Area, continuing to pay contributions etc. But I would hope that we could negotiate a better deal than Norway which addresses the social injustice that the suppression of wages causes. I don't see that as backtracking on the vote
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

:) Why bother, money? If he gets elected to the conservative leadership, that is soon enough to check him out. If someone else gets elected, you need to be checking them out instead. Even if you're a party member, they're not going to let you choose, are they?

I'm not surprised Corbyn is in trouble, the man always seemed like a seat-warmer who'd been left babysitting the leadership because no one else wanted it when they were looking at such a long while in opposition. Be interesting to see if the replacement has any good qualities.

:)VJsMum, glad you're safely back from the mud-bath at Worthy Farm, was it as bad as it looked in the photographs? And great about the kelly kettle, I wonder if they will see an uptick in sales? I do know my first reaction to seeing KK in action (pal brought one to the lottie) was I want one of those and everyone who has ever seen one in use seems to have the same thought. They sell themselves once you've seen them demonstrated.

Haven't seen many photos but it was probably worse  Glastonbury mud is a particular kind of mud that rapidly shrinks as it dries and sucks you in. On Sunday, after Coldplay, and therefore dark, we had to cross a river of sticky mud that could only be crossed by grabbing someone to your left and using your right hand to yank your wellie out and plonk it in front and then grab someone to your right in order to get your left one out and so forth :rotfl: there were many abandoned wellies in that mud :rotfl:.

Man, I do love it tho.

I made a tuna tin stove thing which worked really well with the KK. Next year I will make four smaller ones cos they're a boogger to put out...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

:p I'd suggest watching Ms T May, if I was a gambling woman.

VJsMum, sounds like something I'd hate, but obviously it appeals to many.

Could you try making smaller candlecans in things like sardine tins? I have a few of the tuna can ones which I made and stored against future needs but may think about having some mini versions myself.

  • Show us your tin stove VJ'sMum? and how to make them, that would be a very useful thing to know how to do. How long did it burn for and what did you fuel it with? did it re-heat ready cooked food or have you cooked on it from scratch?
