We need Kittie, she gets the Piers Corbyn forecasts and they do seem to be pretty spot on. She can't give away too much but she would probably be able to say in broad terms.

Had a look at Piers's site and he does seem to be getting a bit excitable but impossible to say what form the extreme weather will take - unless you pay for a forecast, of course
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Caterina good for you :T lol @ MrsL I'm thinking about final destination now...

I wish that the links were to happier stories D&DD. I have made some comments over on Yahoo but when there are a few with my "Real" name and someone called Pop some may think that it is me:p

At least before they allowed a location against your name now that seems to have been removed, it gets confusing...

Aw gawd, don't say that pops. I hope not. Do you think we will?
  • Don't follow us...Greece is lost...

Just been to check on my OH and he's not very well at all...has a nasty cough and a fever now...and his back is out (has 3 slipped discs). Going to call out the doctor in the morning to come and see him, but I have sent the doctor an email telling him what is wrong to prepare him for a home visit....a rare event in Greece! Meanwhile I am going to sleep on the sofa again in order to get a bit of sleep myself.

Sorry to be gross but you have to have a very good aim to use a bottle as an emergency loo, even if you are male. It's worse/impossible for ladies. Please don't ask how I know :o

What about a few litre size washed clean tetra packs with the tops cut off?

It could have been a Shewee or a Whiz Freedom :)
:D A pal was telling a group of us that she'd bought a SheWee to cope with the gross toilets at festivals and as a result, among my circle, you only have to mention the blinking things to cause gales of laughter.

They have them in camping stores. I did look at the packaging but them something sparkly caught my eye on the next rack and I flitted off to look at multitools.

Worrying news about Nadine. I was looking at some pix of my neighbourhood in the last major flood and its chastening to match up the landmarks and realise that they were using rowing boats on the street outside. Must keep an eye on the river and work on the BOB.

ETA; 2tonsils. sending you good wishes for your OH's fast recovery.

I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel Fuddle. The trouble is if you say something like I believe "that we are not being told everything" and a lot of what is happening "Is not being reported" and "the politicians are playing a game of dividing the population against itself!" I will be seen as spreading a conspiracy theory.

I do hope that I am wrong...perhaps we'll not be as bad but more like Ireland. I think much may depend on how things go with France, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Wishing your OH well, it's amazing how easy you can injure your back with a sneeze so if you already have problems...

    Evening all :D
Its been a funny old day been busy but don't seem to achieved an awful lot somehow..story of my life!

2T do you know anyone out there who does reflexology? I've had severe back probs since I was 16 and have tried just about everything to help with the pain but we had the option of this at the carers centre one day.I went through the roof when they touched my feet in certain spots BUT have been on a scale of 1-10 at a level 2 since rather than 11 :D Maybe worth a try if conventional means don't help?

With regards to the food situation I think we just have to relearn how to shop for the time being.Theres no need to panic there will always be special offers and we need to just use these accordingly.
Thats sort of how I shop anyway..I'm a tight mare and refuse to pay full price for anything *apart from strawberries* :o
  • I have been reading through the posts on here (just after having a good gaze at the full moon) and I realise I have some wolf themed clothes I totally forgot about. When I went to Florida years ago I bought a Canadian fleecy and it has wolves howling at the moon all across the back of it.......I was amazed when I stepped out into the street to look at the moon, its warm enough to go out there with a sleeveless top on, its really warm.

I can't bring myself to can/jar/preserve meat at all. Years ago I had really bad food poisoning and its at the back of my mind I could get it if I didn't preserve it correctly....and botulism from preserved veggies. Is anyone else nervous about doing it?

Now salt cod is a specialist dish here...they soak it overnight (otherwise its too salty to eat), keep rinsing it, then fry it in olive oil and serve it with mashed potato mixed with crushed garlic with a bit of olive oil in. (skordalia) It's a traditional dish in the winter months. The skordalia is really nice but you are breathing fumes over people for weeks. It's great when people are full of cold and flu and you don't want them to come near you!
