Thank you Lyn and GQ I wonder about those fridge pack beans in a screw top tub. I need to get in store and look at the shelf life first. I know they last 5 days once opened but not sure if they would be alright sat in the boot till April.

I have 4 500ml bottles of water in there as was thinking maybe me and the kids might be in car when stuck, but that's not enough if we're all stuck. I'll nick a 17p 2 litre out the pantry (he's going to love me :rotfl: )

He has hi-vis but leaves it in his office at night so will look at getting one.

I never thought about a pot to piddle in... the squash bottle will be used when empty ;)

    Pleased I asked now. :)
  • HI all
Fuddle, I think thats a very sensible plan. I have similar in our car, hubby wasn't too impressed at first but he changed his mind when i had a snack, drink and a blanket when we did get stuck in snow ( a few brownie points to me:D).
Love the idea about glow sticks, i keep eyeing them up in £land but couldn't think of a reason to buy them:rotfl:, but grandkids would love them in a power cut.
Its a pretty blustery day here so will ditter around house, it's definately in need of some cleaning (I will not play on Interweb, I will not play on interweb, I will.......)
GQ have fun in the army store, I haven't been for ages, but used to love having a wander around.
2tonsils hope all okay for you and your OH,
Mar its light now so you will be able to see a wooluf in the distance.
Val, well done on your purchase and planning ( Wish i could find a girl guide smilie).

    Hugs to all
    WLL x
Moving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j

Sorry to be gross but you have to have a very good aim to use a bottle as an emergency loo, even if you are male. It's worse/impossible for ladies. Please don't ask how I know :o

What about a few litre size washed clean tetra packs with the tops cut off?
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

WLL hope your mum is recovering well still XX
I think prepping the car for him is very sensible Fuddle you just never know and seeing as he's in the sort of places where you do read about trouble hitting when they have bad weather I think it pays to think ahead. They do hiviz' cheap on eb*y sometimes with freepost.

Following on from a crockpot post on here I've been sorting through my dehydrated stuff and looking at what I have that I can package ready into a bag for a 'throw it in' dinner :D

I bought a cheapo slowcooker for around £8 from Argos which runs off my Weza so we're pretty set for cooking if we have powercuts now I have the Cobb too for baking etc.

I'm so tempted to just throw the circuit breaker one weekend and have a trial run but the kids would probably kill me :rotfl:

Ah :o I once read somewhere in a walkers magazine (my life before kiddies) a system that you can piddle in on your travels. Ladies too. I'll look that up but no doubt faddy and expensive. The squash bottle with it's top cut off mght work a bit better.

    3D's what is a Weza?
  • FUDDLE I would try a 2 litre plastic milk container with the top cut off at an angle but leaving the handle on, much easier to keep hold of one handed in a confined space and probably easier to dispose of afterwards without getting covered if you know what I mean, Cheers Lyn xxx.
