Totally fabulous full moon hanging over the hill outside my window....whats the zombie position on full moons? is it the same as vampires??
    EEEEEK!

Not sure...but it seems to have rendered me irresistible to men somehow.

I always was more of a werewolf type gal, myself. Zombies are dim, vampires are either mean and/or manipulative glittertarts - you know where you are with a wolf.

"you know where you are with a wolf."

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Aye. ATE! I hate wolves, seriously. All the spiritual forums are full of people who worship them and wear wolf tshirts but they turn my blood cold. I can watch vampire films and laugh, but I can't watch anything with a full moon and a wolf innit  ....that American Werewolf in London film nearly finished me off cos we have the moor just behind us and a pub just like that one 2 miles up the road..
I still think they might really exist
  • That's a good tip re. the vinegar Mrs LDS I'll give that a go. Thank you :)

  • All peaceful here this morning, if you ignore the noise of the gypsy fruit/clothes/earthenware pot/live chicken sellers shouting about their wares through a loud speaker as they go through the village... some of them definitely don't need a loud speaker! I am waiting for the potato man to come through but no sign of the one you want.....

My other half is still laid up in bed.... his back has been killing him since he sneezed three days ago and had a night of fitful coughing and little sleep. I am going to call the doctor out tomorrow to see him if he is still like it. I tried sleeping in the spare room but his coughing was so loud I couldn't sleep through it, so went down on the settee....bliss!

All prepared now for whatever next week brings to us, the rolling electric strikes start tomorrow. Going to sort out the freezers so all the meat etc is in one that I can leave closed should the leccy go off....and put the prawn, ice cream in the smaller one so I can use it up first .

Have been doing a few mending jobs on my winter clothes and getting them ready for the change over. Very hot here at 36 in the shade today! Unbelievable for the last day of September, it should be about 24 by now and I should be enjoying putting my jumpers back on...

OH has gone to sleep so off for a quick walk to the bins on the outside of the village. They were moved when the strikes started so now I have to walk up the mountain for about 1 km to take the rubbish to the bins...its okay in the sunshine and fresh air but a flaming nuisance when its bucketing down with rain!

Next week will be a crunch time with Greece and the talks with the EU so we will have to see where that leads us to....not far I imagine. I think the people are at the end of their tether...there is just no more money after taxes and living on a shoestring budget ,so it doesn't matter what the government plan to take off us...we haven't got it! They really need to target the ones with secret money stashed away and million euro boats to play on....but since its mainly the politicians that have them they are not likely to clamp down, are they?

Strangely, I feel very calm about it and quite happy really. I think the Que sera virus has hit me...what will be , will be.....besides, if the aliens are coming or the world ends on December 22nd its really not going to matter in the end is it?

I shall refrain from sharing my opinion upon the majority (not all) of people I have met who wear wolf themed clothing. Or anyone over the age of 15 who adores glitter vampires. OK, I lied, I will - they scare me more than the creatures themselves.

Monsters should be monsters, as they represent the darker side of humanity and our innermost terrors when the lights go out and the moon is high.

It's the Harvest Moon tonight, by the way :)

I love old fashioned monster horror movies.

Is it a bit extreme to put a sleeping bag in DH's car for emergencies. It's a -20 one, but the only one we have that would fit him (old walking days of DH's) He has a one person bivvy but I put that back!

I thought about a tin of beans too? At least he could eat that cold. It's basically if he got stuck in snow. He travels all over the north east and is a stubborn mule i.e. I'm a male, a few white flakes won't stop me. Am I being daft as I have a coat, hat, scarf, ski gloves, socks, jumper, old coat, 2 fleeces. I've also pulled a cushion out for him. :o

    Over the top?
  • I think that is a very sensible idea, and if he ever did get stuck overnight he'd be very grateful for it too. The pictures on the news over the past few years show how easy it is to run into weather problems unexpectedly so why not make it part of the kit? A tin of beans would be fine, make sure it's one with a ring pull so it's easier to open with cold hands. The other thing you might find in a pound shop at a reasonable price is a tin of tuna salad with some pasta if DH would eat it ,for a bit of variety, Cheers Lyn x. Not over the top just wanting to get it right!!!

:) I wouldn't personally think so, Fuddle, given the geographic area that he covers. Even the toughest of tough fellers can have their vehicle stuck in snow and the weather is no respecter of an individual's attitudes.

If you're going to include tinned foods, and they aren't the ring-pull kind, remember to consider a can opener. I have those mini GI can openers on both my keyings (widely-available at 2 for £1) and can even use them.;)

You might want to also think about a 2 litre water bottle (repurposed pop bottle or 17p for a new bottle of water from the supermarket). Two litres is the recommended minimum for an adult in most conditions. If you're underhydrated, your metabolic processes inc digestion and temperature regulation cannot work properly.

Ahem, a trifle delicate (but when has that ever stopped me?:o) but you may want to consider adding an empty receptacle to have a piddle into, as in a prolonged snowed-in-my-car situation, this will eventually become an issue.

Does he have a hi-viz coat anyway? If not, a hi-viz waistcoat (Poundland or the 99p Store always seem to stock them), is an excellent idea to wear in a breakdown situation.

Just sneak 'em on there and if he needs them, he'll thank you to heaven and back, if not, you will have only invested time not much (or indeed any) cash, so it's a good situation.

I've been having great fun on the web and now have a plan to get a billy can which will fit into the stainless-steel cutlery drainer which I'm turning into a hobo stove. I shall take the thingy to the Army Surplus store (they know me there as a bonkers person anyway) and find ones that fit. Billy cans are great fun and thanks to the Mad Bushcrafters, I know how to make a wooden pot-support from branches with a wee bit of cutting and notching, if out in the wilds without a stove.

Failing that, I shall play around on my lottie as I don't have a garden. One of these days, I'll probably grow up but there's no sign of it any time soon........:rotfl:
