    1) Install the Active sync software so the Nav can talk to the PC
    2) Delete everything from the My Flash Disk folder on the Nav
    3) Copy MapRegions folder from Map Material CD to My Flash Disk Folder
    4) Copy the contents of the D:\Installation\GB folder on the MEDION GoPal disk to My Flash Disk
    5) Hit the reset button
this is what the help line are advising

I tried bellamy_47's idea (the language file one) but it didn't work.

I deleted the french maps and installed the britain and ireland ones from the cd and that worked, but the menus are still in french and the voice is french.

The GB installation file on the gopal disc just contains a load of zip files that don't unzip to anything like the file structure on the flash drive. If someone has a working copy could they post the flash drive contents somewhere on the web.

Did this and now have the unit in English so part way there! It now wants me to insert a memory card. It won't move from this screen no matter with or without an SD card in the slot. Back on the phone I guess :whistling:

Mine now won't budge off the "Please insert the memory card" screen so it's off to my nearest Tesco superstore tonight for a refund.

    1) Scope of the CD

This CD contains the user manual for the navigation software in electronic form and the navigation software in different languages.

Please note that some of the devices do not include memory cards in the delivery. In these units the installation and map files have already been loaded. The installation will run automatically.

    2) User manual for the navigation software

To open the user manual you need Adobe® Reader®. If you do not have that program installed on your PC you can use the installation version on this CD.

    3) Transferring the installation files

You can transfer the navigation software again onto your memory card and then install the software on the navigation system. To do that, proceed as follows:

    3.1) Via ActiveSync®

    a) Connect the navigation system with your PC via ActiveSync®.

    b) Insert the storage card into the navigation system.

    c) You can use ActiveSync® to access the files of the navigation system via the menu item "Browse".

    d) Now use Windows Explorer to select the "Installation" directory on this CD.

    e) Then open the subdirectory for your choice of languages (e.g. "DE_FR_IT" for German/French/Italian).

    f) Copy all files from this folder into the main directory on your storage card.

    g) Please check whether the directory "MapRegions" is included on your storage card or whether it contains map data. If necessary, you may have to recreate the directory and then transfer the required map data from the respective CD.

    3.2) Via card reader

This method takes less time than the synchronisation via ActiveSync®. If your computer has a facility for writing directly onto the storage card, you can also proceed as follows:

    a) Use Windows Explorer to select the “Installation” directory on this CD.

    b) Then open the subdirectory for your choice of languages (e.g. "DE_FR_IT" for German/French/Italian).

    c) Now copy all files from this folder into the main directory on your storage card.

    4) Re-installing the navigation software

Re-install as described in the hardware manual.
