I've taken 3 days off work as it is Half Term and all I seem to have done in the last couple of days is washing, ironing and general tidying up after the children - things/toys/mess just seem to appear from nowhere!

    Hi QB Wolf,

There's lots of calculators available, eg search for locoblade on these MSE forums, or do an internet search, but I crafted my own. See posts 534 and 536 of my diary. They are linked to from the first post:

Allows different standard and overpayments, mortgage rates etc. May be worth a look, even if it only helps you understand your mortgage a bit better.

Don't recall you mentioning your mortgage rate yet - if it's a very low SVR - mine is 2.5% - it may be better to save rather than overpay and review as the rates change.

    Financial Bliss.

I haven't even got my mortgage yet and I'm already thinking about overpaying. My offer was accepted a couple of weeks ago so I'm now playing the waiting game. I don't think I'll be able to overpay by much but, as they say, every little helps! I've already set up your spreadsheet and will be having a play with it to give me some motivation to pay the mortgage off early. I plan on using it once I get into my new house. You, QB Wolf and all the other MFWs are giving me lots of inspiration to start this challenge. Thanks :T
    Starting mortgage balance 22/04/2013 £71,250
    Overpayments to date £410
    Current mortgage balance £70,650

Thanks Robedha1, nice to think the little bit I'm doing is inspiring someone :j There are people on here paying thousands, every month and some paying tens of pounds a month and everything inbetween. Everyone has different circumstances and are at different stages in their lives. We've all got one thing in common though, we're making positive steps to reduce our debt more quickly :T

Pay day today, so the regular £200 OP gone out, can't afford anything else this month.:( My big tax bill means I'm £600 worse off than I was this time last month. :(:(

On the positive side, short month means only 28 days until next pay day and three days less interest to pay on the mortgage.

We've also got a plasterer coming tomorrow to cover the artex on the ceiling in my daughter's room, so can decorate this weekend must get her in her own room by the end of March.
