MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »FUDDLE - Yorkie pud is also lovely with grated cheese/cheese and onion on top too!!! For a variation on toad in the hole you can use sausage meat rolled into balls instead of sausages or a mixture of sausage meat and sage and onion stuffing works well and stretches the sausage meat even further, nice with onion gravy! Cheers Lyn x.
That sounds quite yum actually! Got 1 very large (plate-sized) yorks in freezer, could make some smaller for me & littlies, also got some very posh YS sausages in the freezer - one more meal for later this week - thanks very much Lyn! (Hope it's ok to take liberties with your name)
DD is 3 tomorrow, we're just having a nice family tea, then a bigger bun fight on Sunday for other peeps, so we'll have a big pasta bake (got bacon & bendy veg to use), then a small HM birthday cake. Have to do a freezer and pantry stocktake to see what I can make for Sunday without buying too much more.

Popped home for lunch as I work nearby on Tuesdays.
Not surprisingly, having the gas fire on low is much, much cheaper than putting the heating on. Gas fire used 0.2 units and the CH used 2.2 units so that makes CH 11 times more expensive. So it'll be gas fire from now on unless Lodger Boy is cold.
Have caused discontentment with Lodger Boy. Two weeks ago he cooked something on the hob and burnt stuff onto the gas rings. Today I asked him to clean them, and to his horror, showed him how to dismantle said rings. He tried to deny it was him but since I rarely let a pan boil over, and there were burnt leeks on the cooker top (he was the last one to cook with leeks) the evidence convicted him. I had given up waiting for him to notice by himself and couldn't stand the mess any longer. Also asked him to clean the microwave, which he promised he would do a month ago and still hasn't. Are all young blokes such scuzzers? My experience of them (both now and when I was young and living in shared houses) is that most of them are, with one or two exceptions!
I will be leaving a selection of bicarb, lemon juice, washing-up liquid and scrubby sponges out for him to use at his leisure .... :rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Fuddle next time what about the bacon potato slow cooker thingy on Pinterest. (Very technical term.)
I have an experiment in the slow cooker today - chicken in a creamy sauce involving chicken bouillon and cream cheese. We'll see how it turns out. I'm hoping I can add pasta later - anyone know how long pasta would take in the slow cooker?0 -
Today is a new beginning. Willpower is what I need and a kick up the backside. Life is wwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too short to be squandering precious time.

I guess it depends on how much you like being in the company of like minded friends Karen. A good discussion, learning new things, support, helpful advise and inspiration to try new things is in abundance here. It beats being alone when you're in the house... alone. I don't see it as squandering my time. I know loads of things because of here.
I saw that potato bacon thing, I do fancy it but thought it would take long. As for pasta. I don't think it would take very long at all because of the trick of boiling up the water then turning off the heat and it cooks in it's hot water in 10 mins. Let us know won't you?
smiley, you're long over due a girl!0 -

Well i was planning on going into town today for a mooch around the charity shops but it'd been blowing a gale here and raining so DD2 and I have stayed tucked up indoors. Finished a pair of wristwarmers for my friend's DD and started a crochet heart which i am planning to frame. Oh and read every Peppa book every written or so it seems.
I saw some of the posts on here about Pinterest so clicked on the link Possesion gave the other day (hope you don't mind Possession) and added more pins and people to follow. I signed up before but only for Attic 24 stuff, so i could keep all the crochet inspiration in one place. Now i'm hooked! I have a crochet, sewing, home and fashion board so far, think i'll need one for food too!
Trying to be more upbeat as i've been on a downer the past few days, just life getting on top of me but sometimes i just feel like going back to bed
K xx
Edited to add - DH has just had a call from his boss to tell him his job is safe :j (certain departments are restructuring). Massive massive weight lifted now:D:D In fact i'm crying now
Phew!
