Chicken Dinner for us tonight. Had a bit of a find in the back of the fridge. Goosefat from last Christmas, unopened and BBE July 2013. I'm arguing with myself whether to save it for Christmas or have some lush roast potatoes tonight.
Did people get ill with the turn of the seasons 50+ years ago?0 -
I think people had less health generally as life was much harder then and living conditions very different to what we have today. Hope Alfie is on the mend, he's likely to have a sore tum after something like this and I always give Docky scrambled egg for the first couple of small meals when he wants food again, it's easier for them to digest. Keep us tabbed FUDDLE and let us know how he is would you? Thanks. Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I don't think I qualify for the flu jab. Can you get it private?
Mar really interesting about the panic attack flummoxing you. I suppose when you say you're having difficulty breathing they have to er on the side of caution.
Re mentol in steam water. I have Vicks chest rub, would that do the same thing either on my chest or melted in the water.
Mar you're in bother from me by the way. Now Possession is searching for sweeties on Pinterest which means on my front page is ooodles of sweet delights... I'm trying to diet! :rotfl:
Thank you for the well wishes. I have DD off sick with a cold and a dog that has been sick 3 times (bile) and won't eat his breakfast.
Asd@ are doing the flu jab in their pharmacies for £7 but I think Morrisons are doing the same and you get a free tea or coffee.

Our doc swears its new classes at school and the return to uni/work/school that always does it but to see people walking round in vest tops and shorts still and I'm in my hat and vest

I'll try him with a little scrambled egg later Lyn, Thank you. I'll let you know how he is for sure.
I requested a ring back from the doctor about the pain when breathing in my chest. He thinks I have bronchitis. He said I should drink plenty of water to thin the mucus on my chest and to make an appointment in 7 days if there's no improvement.
He also said that for my cough he'd be more inclined to make a honey and lemon mixture as there's no proof cough medicine works.Off to go look into that

Am back and sending ((hugs)) at arms length for those feeling poorly (I really cannot get sick again! ):D
Have arrived back from my morning meeting and our group is now days away from being official, we will officially sign all our policies this week and then open a bank account and we are away:j
Lady from the council says we are covering a huge gap in the area and thinks we may well be inundated, she wants us to consider what we will do if the group grows too big:eek:
DS14 Fb account was hacked today - must be one of his "friends" as I set up his passwords and they were posting very teenagerish comments! Am not impressed so am now upping his account security - this means he will no longer be able to log into his account from outside the house - but at least his "friends" will no longer be able to snatch his password.
Mardatha - we used to live right by a market that sold net curtains for £1 per metre, I worked out it was more cost effective to buy new nets every twelve months than try to get them white again. When we moved and the stall closed it was a fight to keep them white enough I could live with. We dont have any now as we dont need them - although if my dad lived here we would have to have them.0 -

Mug of lemonade heated, add good tablespoon lemon juice and good table spoon honey mix and drink, works wonders.0 -
Thanks kidcat I'm having warmed diluted orange juice with a bit of honey in. It's all I have but I shall be adding lemonade to my winter preps!
Can you freeze lemon slices?
I think I have just fallen in lurve... the pot bellied kitchen stove. I can see it in my next home, sat on a lovely black square of slate, complete with lovely large kettle, if not a pot of broth. Dreeeeeeeaming!0 -
Yes fuddle I freeze lemon slices all the time, I put them single layer on a teflon sheet cover them until frozen then tip into a bag. Its how I use up lemons when I have zested them. Always looks super organised when I offer cold drink and add a slice of lemon.0
