£3640 Oh to dream
That is good news Shegar. As good a news as we could hope for anyway. To to recoup and regroup.

Just came in to say that Mrs L... fuddle she knows you saw through her, pet. She knows you looked deeper than the successful yuppy achiever fake front she puts on! Hence the saying "truth hurts", and why some people don't want to know
POSSESSION - YUR DEAD! all those sweeties the very week I decide to go LOW SUGAR!!
I found Glo White in Asda thanks all who helped.
I think there's an awful lot of illness around - I'm sure it was the wet sunless summer. People's resistance gets low without sun and it's worrying at this time of year with winter and flu still to come. Everybody should take a good quality multi-vit daily.
The other thing I was always told by my Nanna was to wash and peg out the net curtains on a frosty day as the cold does something to whiten them. Not actually sure how true this is as I now have cream coloured nets. lol!!My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Oh for those with arthritis / aching nesses have you tried just Vitamin D? I know it can be in cod liver oil but there are other things in this which can conflict with some symptoms. If you have a C0stc0 card or similar you can get a 360 day supply for £3.40 (ish) and the science behind this is very strong. I usually take a one a day dose and a double dose if cold (below 8oC) and same if I am feeling icky / tired / been doing a lot of traveling for work. it is usually lacking in people now as we all cover up and wear sun screen now - lots of cases of adult rickets in the developed world. It can also help with immune problems. As I said the science is quite sound (for once with these things)
Overall i found the cost / benefit analysis to be firmly in the DO IT camp but perhaps each needs to work out if their life requires this, as with all things you cannot make sweeping statements. Also I know depends if you can get the product at a reasonable price. it is worth noting that the RDA for this is being considered and the evidence seems to suggest a tolerance of 5x higher than current levels are in diet!!! Just goes to show a bit of sunshine on the skin can do.

Mardatha I've got IKEA nets http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10070262/ but I paid £2 odd for them not a fiver.
As I live in grimy London with a window open all the time, and an open fire and I smoke, they get pretty grubby quickly but come up lovely and white with bio powder, a quick 40c wash and the smallest drop of bleach in the wm drawer.
If anyone uses oven pride oven cleaner which is the only thing I will use on my oven, http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp at £4 a go it's not cheap, get to poundland and buy mighty oven, costs £1;) and is the same stuff and works exactly the same, no smell, same good quality bag inside just 1/4 of the price. Did mine yesterday prepared for carp results but couldn't tell the difference.0 -
I don't think I qualify for the flu jab. Can you get it private?
Mar really interesting about the panic attack flummoxing you. I suppose when you say you're having difficulty breathing they have to er on the side of caution.
Re mentol in steam water. I have Vicks chest rub, would that do the same thing either on my chest or melted in the water.
Thank you for the well wishes. I have DD off sick with a cold and a dog that has been sick 3 times (bile) and won't eat his breakfast.
You could always ask at your Dr's surgery nothing to lose, even if private they may do it still even if they charge you.
Some pharmacies do it and I even saw them on offer in my local Tesco's for £7(I think that was the price)
I believe that Vick's Chest Rub works in a similar way and yes you can put it in water, put a cloth over your head/bowl and breathe in the vapours but though pretty obvious do be careful regarding the hot water in case it gets knocked over.
Hope you and your family soon feel well, that has crept up on you all...as has been said perhaps caught at school:(and then with all extra work you have been doing there and at home, a little run down...lets hope it goes as quick as it came...if you have cold they will not give you the Flu jab until it's gone. They always ask me two questions. Am I allergic or have problems with the jab and have I a cold?
PAH thinking of you and your daughter and hope we hear good news soon. Usually it is the unknowns that make matters worse, when we know something even what we don't want to hear, we can usually say right what are we going to do about it!

My gran believed that hanging out white sheets and nets in the frosty air made them whiter as well. I remember putting them on the line in Yorkshire and it was so cold that my hands went numb ..the sheets were brilliant white, but then that could have been her robust washing methods and not the frost. Strong as a bull and just as tough was my gran lol
There is a huge difference in materials now though, clothes and other textiles just don't last like they used to do and have a strange tendency to change both colour and texture!
I discovered a long time ago that my clothes last longer here if I wash them in the liquid wash that is made from olive oil soap. I get it from Lidl and it only costs 3 euros for 3 litres, as opposed to about 13 euros for a couple of litres of Bold. If I use the soft soap liquid I don't need to use any softener either. They come out soft and smelling lovely. I always dry mine outside as we have no tumble dryer and no other way of drying them. It makes the house too damp if we dry them on the radiators with the central heating on. We have to save on the heating oil as its so expensive so we either have just the olive wood fire on or put the heating on till the radiators are hot then turn it off.
Speaking of which, I just heard an amazing bulletin on the Greek news. The heating oil providers have told the government they will not supply heating oil at extortionate prices because the old folks and normal people cannot afford it. Forty cents extra tax was added to each litre in order for the banks to be bailed out this year and it was already 1.10 a litre before the tax was added . So they are taking strike action and blocking it till the government backs down....
I discovered two years ago that clothes come much cleaner washed on a cold wash . Since all washers here are cold fill that is easy to do. The only thing I wash on hot are towels, sheets and some undies. It also saves us a fortune on the electricity.
My bread maker has just finished and I have a lovely crispy crust sunflower seed brown loaf cooling in the kitchen (gluten free of course). The whole house smells gorgeous. I like my bread to taste yeasty and have enough salt to taste it.......so nice when you can make it just as you like it. The next loaf will be cheese, sage and onion and after that it's going to be a fruit loaf with apple, banana and cloves.mmmmmmm“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Sorry to hear about poorly folks - hope you all feel better soon.
PAH really sorry you're having such a rubbish time - will be sending moral support to you
Shegar thinking of you too- what a horrid situation you're in. Enjoy your fire - its important to keep warm as you know with arthritis - mine is poor just now with the cold snap coming in - hopefully we'll all adjust to winter and it will ease off a bit0 -
Shegar - am gald you are going to get a break, but not so glad its as a result of you being poorly. Hope the arthritus picks up and you can at least have a couple of good days.
Its very cold here, so heating is going on. Its been on a few times in past week just for thirty minutes to make sure it works but its going on properly now, can see DS8 struggling. We have done better than last year when it went on at the beginning of Oct - an extra two weeks is better than nothing.0
