  • PAH - Glad to hear from you again, hope your new home arrangements have worked out and that your life is more comfortable and less stressed from now on. Hoping that your daughter recovers very quickly and sending you both big hugs and love.

FUDDLE - Poor old you but I think it's inevitable that when you work with littlies you are going to pick up everything doing the rounds. My teacher daughter recons you become immune after the first year as you will have then caught and dealt with all the regional variations of bug of every type that you come into contact with. Hope you feel better really quickly.

BYATT - Well done getting the woodburner door open, your chimney sweep should be able to give you a driving lesson for the stove after he's swept the chimney. If not , do you have a woodstove installer and supplier anywhere within reach? if you do go and visit and they will probably be able to get you a booklet relating to your stove model and talk you through running it. I hope Bess is OK at the moment, was very sad to read your post that she was not in the best of health! Docky sends you both s SSSLLLLLLUURRRRRPPPPP!!!

Have a nice day everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Oh dear so much illness around. Hope everyone gets well soon. I dread this time of year as I have a very badly compromised immune system.

Have been thinking (ouch) and have decided to try a new approach to living. I am going to try really hard just to think about Today, not tomorrow or next week or next month, just today. Perhaps then I will cope a bit better than I have been as my brain races from money to health to family to , well everywhere really. Some days I really think I am responsible for global warming lol
Please be patient with any mis-spellings and typos I am officially useless with a touchscreen keyboard!!!

I don't think I qualify for the flu jab. Can you get it private?

Mar really interesting about the panic attack flummoxing you. I suppose when you say you're having difficulty breathing they have to er on the side of caution.

Re mentol in steam water. I have Vicks chest rub, would that do the same thing either on my chest or melted in the water.

Mar you're in bother from me by the way. Now Possession is searching for sweeties on Pinterest which means on my front page is ooodles of sweet delights... I'm trying to diet! :rotfl:

Thank you for the well wishes. I have DD off sick with a cold and a dog that has been sick 3 times (bile) and won't eat his breakfast.

I am actually here to ask a favour, can you please send healing, pray for my daughter. She was taken into hospital on Saturday night very ill but as yet they do not know what is wrong. She is to have scans and more tests today. Got to admit am rather worried.

Morning everyone, sorry not been arround, I just had to have 'time out' and be selfish and have not read threads or even emails for a week and just immersed myself in sorting out my sitting room and watching Babylon 5 (oldest son bought me the complete boxed set years ago) and I have done nothing much except that.

Hubby and I have decided to stay in the house but have made it into two separate flats - he has living room as we only have on large room downstairs so its a bedsit for him and I have what was the study as my sitting room now as basically I have been living in my bedroom for past couple of years and was going stir crazy. He is out most of the time at work and his bowls so just having one room is ok for him. My bedroom is the bigger room so would be nicer for sitting room but that room has the boiler in it which is rather noisy so easier to ignore in a sitting room than bedroom. The small third bedroom is now the store room, took me ages to move everything in there as apart from son and OH taking his furniture downstairs and bringing my couch, trolley, recliner and sewing table upstairs I moved everything myself, hence the need for shutting everything out as was doped up on pain meds to manage and pain levels are rather high even now and still plenty to do, although with worry over daughter not exactly getting much done. Not sure if this will work but with all the changes afoot we decided if we can house share it means only one rent, one council tax to be found.

Yesterday we were married 32 years.

Will try and catch up with posts, but sending love and hugs to all who need them.

    Thank you my friendsxxxx
Prayers being sent and good thoughts for you and your family xxxx

  • Asda do them Fuddle, i think it's £7/8. I have one for free because of my FM but i make DH go and get one done at Asda/Tesco because he works with lots of people and travels a lot. I am a worrier :o

Gone overdrawn again with the council tax, DH's pay goes in the same day but it's gone in after the council tax came out so i'm overdrawn :( Does anyone know if i will get charged seeing as the money was replaced the same working day? It's HSBC btw. I tried to change the date of the CT payment but the only other date they offer is the 1st so we'd have to pay again on 1st Nov which we can't afford to do.

    K xx
  • PAH - Hope your dd feels better and have prayed for her and the doctors treating her.

Fuddle - hope you feel better too.

JKJ - I've been away so haven't had a chance to say hello

Mar - probably too late now but Home Bargins have different whitening products.

Our half term was early this year so at the last minute I packed up and drove the three littlies to my folks house all by myself (LONG drive and a boat trip). It was my first time doing it so I'm feeling very proud of myself. I really miss them now I'm back, how much easier life would be living near family :(

This morning - up for school and out to the car only to find the doors frozen together. It was -1oC!!! I'm sorted for winter but everything is still in the garage waiting for winter to start. I think it's here now :rotfl:

I've started my diet today. Wishing luck to you Fuddle and anyone else trying to eat healthily and exercise. I just love cake :bdaycake: I've even tried freezing it in portions but I still eat too much. But from today I will be an :A (or I will be one til lunchtime at least haha)

I'm trying to diet too. My downfall is the wine. I do like a glass or two of a weekend, but it does add up.

I am going to buy a wally trolley today  I'm not going to splash out on an expensive one just yet as I am not sure it will get used much. But i do keep driving to a shop i could just walk to if it wasn't for carrying the heavy shopping. I also buy shampoos and stuff like that at home bargains and that is a mile to walk with such bulky items. It will help with the diet, too, if I can combine the shopping with the exercise. The kids had forbidden me to get a trolley, but tough. Mind you I was hoping for the chic Parisienne look, however on returning from taking DD to school (BTW she is much more settled now), I popped in to get my veg from the farm shop and the lad serving called me "my dear" and asked "if I could manage". I'm 48!!!!!:rotfl: I know I hadn't any make up on but thought I looked OK for my age! So god knows what I'll get called with the wally trolley.

I am also taking some books to the charity shop after sorting out the office of doom, along with 2 pairs of trousers. I had 3 pairs of brown jean type trousers and one became too tatty and I have decided that I hate the other two, and they don't fit me well or flatter me in any way, so I am going to splash out on a decent pair. I have an M&S voucher to put towards them. 3 out and one in isn't so bad and I do wear my clothes for years so can justify a decent quality pair. WHat's the betting M&S don't have any now!

ANy road up, I'm still not showered so i'd best get on.

If you like a glass of wine you should definitely make your own! I've just made a batch with lemonbalm from my in-laws' garden (they think it's a weed and give me loads of it). Cost about 10-20p a bottle, only takes half an hour or so to make. I've just got a new lot brewing on the cooker, mmmm!

Yesterday I tried a make do and mend that failed. :( I have a pair of Blue Harbour cheapo corduroy trousers. Quite soon after I bought them the knees started to go threadbare, which doesn't usually happen with cords for years. So I wondered if I could sew fake 'wales' (the ridges in corduroy) on the bare patches with thread - result - frustration and failure! At least I tried though!
