Fuddle, I'm a nurse, but the first (and only) time my youngest son had a panic attack I called 999 because I thought it was either bad asthma or a heart attack! His pulse was too light and fast to find, and he was semi conscious, it was horrible.
I'm on Pinterest as Mouseworks but I've never thought of looking at food...do they have SWEETIES?
Normal rules of nursing never apply to your own family and pets. I used to be as calm and collected as they come in an emergency at work but at home Im panicking like crazy. I have faced some tough times with my two younger sons as I resuscitated one as an infant as we very nearly lost him to SIDS and then the other severely haemorrhaged after having his tonsils out.
Sending healing to PAH daughter xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
VJs - my tip for jeans is to find a pair you like, fit and style wise and then keep your eyes open in charity shops. My favourite at the mo are Mr S jeans but at £17 a pair they're out of my budget (actually that's a lie, I just won't spend that much on them). I've picked up 4 pairs over the past few months, all looking like new and didn't spend more than £3 a pair :j
Austin - lemon balm wine sounds nice I've got some in my herb bed....any chance of the recipe? Whilst there's a spare demijohn I might give it a try."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Well done on trying. Why doesn't things in real life come out like our minds eye?
Tuna pasta with brocolli for lunch and tomato soup for poorly DD.
I know I don't suffer from SAD because I like the dullness of candle light etc but is there such a thing as fed up and lost get up and go just because.
My friend in Australia has contacted everyone else on facebook but not me. I'm really upset about it. I'm trying to tell myself that it doesn't matter, that I won't see her again anyway etc but it still hurts. I still feel snubbed.
Off to go get some hot water bottles filled. We need some cuddle heat.0 -
Fuddle Im sure Mr T does flu jabs for £8 if you have one with a pharmacy? Get well soon x
Pah sorry to hear about your daughter, will light a candle for her.Glad to hear you have finished the move round. x
JKJ sound like you have a lot to cope with but its good that you are working out how to deal with it all. Perhaps make a list of things you need to achieve in order of importance and take baby steps. I know it helps me get things into perspective but No 1 on the list,be rescued by James Bond and get taken to a secluded desert island is still unticked - will let you all know when I leaveClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
FUDDLE - Your friend in Australia probably doesn't like to hear the truth, which is what you give her, she's not avoiding you, just real life. You'll be the one she asks for help in the long run, which you'll give because you're you! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

The heating is on and I don't feel bad because we feel bad.
I'm worried about Alfie the most. He can't keep anything down and has just fallen asleep while standing resulting in him stumbling like a drunken dog. I've picked him up and put him next to DD on the couch. I wish it was bedtime, I'd like to start today again please.
I've bid for my 3 houses this week, I've found some that aren't in the 100's waiting lists. I'm in position 27, 18 and 33. I don't stand a chance lol0 -
Loads to think about there. I thank you all so much.
The basic calor heaters look quite alright, you can get them in black now. It would sit on the fire place I think but need measurements. Definately a fire guard... Alfie has a collie's tail, I shall say no more!
I like the idea that you pay upfront.this is £79.99 without gas. If DH says it's a goer I could get that in a few months and the gas the next month. Hopefully start seeing some central heating savings around New Year. I use £25-£30 per month in gas just in water usage. If we could knock the heating on the head or just heat the bathroom for bath time we could potentially save around £70-£90 per month in the real thicks of winter. We've plenty of hot water bottles for beds.
AMazon have them for £59.99 without gas
Also, I have a carbon monoxide detector already
Condensation is an issue in this house anyway. Every morning I have to get an old towel and wipe each pane. Thinking of getting one of those window cleaning rubber wipers
We are going to buy one like that, if we can afford it, as someone in their wisdom (we rent privately) decided that it was a good idea having an open-plan sitting room, with the front door opening onto it facing the stairway. The heat just goes straight up the stairs, so while it's tropical in the bedrooms, it's like the Arctic downstairs. The same wisdom decided not to have any kind of fire in the sitting room, too
Fuddle be aware that Calor gas heaters like that are often forbidden in many tenancy agreements, unless you expressly have the permission of your landlord, as we have. With your landlord, I would make sure that if he gives you permission that you get it in writing.
ETA Oops, I really should read to the end before posting! Fuddle, could you not ask your landlord any way? Our tenancy agreement states that we can't use them either, but our landlady gave us permission any way, though she couldn't understand why we thought it was cold in here. The last tenants didn't complain. I'm not surprised, when we viewed the house in March, the then-current tenants had the thermostat on about 30°C!0 -

Might Alfie have eaten something which has really disagreed with him - in your garden, maybe? I would ring and have a chat with your vet.
Chin up. You of all people will get where you want to be ....
best wishes, the cake xx0 -
Just came in to say that Mrs L... fuddle she knows you saw through her, pet. She knows you looked deeper than the successful yuppy achiever fake front she puts on! Hence the saying "truth hurts", and why some people don't want to know
POSSESSION - YUR DEAD! all those sweeties the very week I decide to go LOW SUGAR!!
I found Glo White in Asda thanks all who helped.
I think there's an awful lot of illness around - I'm sure it was the wet sunless summer. People's resistance gets low without sun and it's worrying at this time of year with winter and flu still to come. Everybody should take a good quality multi-vit daily.0 -

I think it's on the wine thread but if not - boil up a gallon/5l of water on the stove, add about three quarters of a kilo of sugar and enough lemon balm to turn the water into the colour of tea. Stew for a while, allow to cool a bit then add to demijohn (through a muslin filter etc). Add 1tsp yeast and 1tsp nutrient, leave for 3 weeks then drink, yum! (improves with age though so if you can hold off for 3 months or so it's better).'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
