We all used to bomb around on 'fizzies' and trials bikes when we had just left school those were the days
When I first met OH he had a bike but when we decided to get married he swapped it in for driving lessons and a car.
A friend of my mums who's daughter I have grown up with lost her dear husband 5 years ago on xmas eve in a bike crash here it devastated the family so I don't think I'd ever want OH or eldest to get a bike.:(0 -
I didn't mean to make you worried Fuddle, just cautious.
The funniest thing about that story is that I was obviously on crutches for a while, fine at home as I had a western toilet but in school they only had squat toilets on my floor (sorry if TMI!). You can imagine just how difficult it is to use a squat toilet on crutches. Ugh. Also very difficult when visiting other people's houses unless they were quite westernised, as they don't have sofas, you sit on tatami mats on the floor, also pretty difficult on crutches with a gammy knee. In fact life for disabled people in general was quite difficult there, I hope it has improved now.
DH has the possibility of 5 weeks work starting next week, hope he gets it, 5 weeks of money would be very useful.0 -
My dh had a bike for the first few years we were married. I never ever went on it with him He is bad enough in the car. I did go on my Fathers bike though so It was not because I was scared of bikes.
Both my older Sons have also had bikes. The older got rid of his last year because dil's spinal problems mean she can't go on one anymore and he says its no fun on his own. The younger sold his when he wanted to go to America last winter.
I am glad in a way because I am so scared of what can happen even on a cycle.
I was driving behind a truck and a bt van last year and saw a cyclist just in front of the truck. The truck moved out to go round him but the bt van was not paying attention and nearly hit the cyclist. My heart was in my mouth. I was taught in my driving lessons to give bikes as much room as a small car when passing and never travel so close to a truck that you can't see what is going on.0 -
Morning all,
Have been MIA for a few days, I slipped outside on Tuesday evening, and put my arms out to save myself and have damaged my shoulder even more. Also hurt my right knee very badly. So now I have my left arm strapped to my body so I cant move it and need a crutch to walk.
It has taken for ever to type this as I am doing it with one hand.
I will have acup of tea and go back and read the last few days I have missed.
Be back when I am finished reading.C.R.A.P. R.O.O.L.Z. Member. 21 Norn Iron deputy h

Thank you Ginnyknit, I am so glad I have been stocking up as much as I can and have HM some ready meals and soup in the freezer. As it has been really helpful for my OH as he has to do everything for me plus all the housework.
It could be 18 to 24 months before I have the op on my shoulder.
Thank you PossessionC.R.A.P. R.O.O.L.Z. Member. 21 Norn Iron deputy h

DH got himself a bike for a while when his office relocated and it meant driving round the M25 for 3 junctions. But he sold it after his nephew was involved in a bad smash (racing not a traffic accident). I wasn't sorry - he was very experienced but it's the other drivers you worry aboutIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
