Hello DANETASTIC, always room for another one in here, come on in. I have a Lakela*d storage bag specially made for onions and that seems to do the job. If I've had big sacks in the past I always have a few in the veg rack in the kitchen and have kept the rest in the coolest darkest place I have, either in the garage or the understairs cupboard. I check every few days and hoik out any that need using and they go in the next thing I make. Hope that helps,Cheers Lyn.0

I keep onions in a dark corner of the shed - of course that means we can never find them0

Hello Dane - I had one of those sacks a few months ago, they lasted really well. I keep my onions in a dark drawer but when any started to look dodgy I cut them up and froze in slices in the freezer (wrapped in plastic and then in a lidded box to keep the smell down)."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Very quick post today as I really should be doing something else.
Had to laugh at stories of bikes. When I was young all my boyfriends had motor bikes - it was a requirement. No need for crash helmets, I just tied a scarf over my hair. My brother used to ride from home in Southampton to Derbyshire when he was at college there. In the winter he used to wear all his clothes starting with PJ's.
As for hills......When my boys were babies we lived at the top of a 1:7 hill. Many's the time I struggled up there pushing a pram ( a 'proper' pram in those days) with baby inside, toddler sitting on the end and shopping heaped up underneath. Halfway up, as we were travelling almost vertically, I used to think that every step would be my last.
Can't think why I wasn't as thin as a rake. So much for exercise.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I get my sister to dye my eyelashes for me. Eyebrows still nice & dark, but my eyelashes are getting lighter & lighter...Well done Margaret. £10 is a bargain. I hope you enjoy it (how can you not) as well as learn a new skill.
Kittie, I browse that site for ages. I particularly adore the Norwegian collection and want to do thisfor myself so badly. My skills aren't at that level though.
I always wondered about the yarn so thanks for the good word about them.
Fuddle, as far as I can see on my phone, that jumper wouldn't be as hard as it looks. I made DS1 fair ilse tank top when he was a toddler, & it took a while to get the hang of it (lots of knitting, ripping out, try again, oops, made a mistake, pull it out again...) But once I had the knack, it was easier than I thought it would be.
However, since knitting a jumper for DS2 has taken me 2 years to complete, I'll not start a jumper for me any time soon ;-) !danetastic wrote: »Hope you guys don't mind me joining in . Been in os sites off and on for a while am trying to catch up with you all .
Just a wee question for those that know more than me . I use a lot of onions in cooking . Was in £idl yesterday and there was a sack of onions (5kg ) for £2 - bargain . But how do I store them so they will last the month ? I have room in a garden shed , freezer and house . Mine always seem to sprout or go mouldy . Thanks in advance
I froze them last time I had a lot of onions - I chopped & sauteed them, then froze in the right amounts for meals.
I'm sitting here in my pjs, having got soaked on the way home. Shower, fleecy pjs, socks, dressing gown & slippers, hot choc, feeling more human! Better start dinner soon though...0 -
OH! toughie, I need to ask you. Do any of you have white eye brows growing amongst your brown/blonde? I have 4 beasties on my right eye and don't know what to do about them. If I pluck them I'll have eye brow gappage  I only seem to be going grey on my right side  :rotfl: Typical me, I can't even age properly :rotfl:
Pluck them out and fill in the gappage with a pencil - boot's No 7 is the best I've found. I *really* wish I'd learned to draw in eyebrows years ago, cos' now I need to do it, I could be doing without the learning curve. Mine have just faded to pale imitations of eyebrows...and I look really weird if I don't darken them up a bit!

Worth a go? Cheers Lyn x.
