Fuddle am so glad you had a nice dinner, its lovely to have a little treat

I am having a blinking horrible day - I expected it to be awful (it usually is) but had no idea how low it would go. Next year I am switching the phone off, disconnecting the laptop and staying in bed. :)

The only positive was that the roof is finished, the builders arrived en masse (four vans full) and got it all done.

so sorry to hear about your dad softstuff (hugs))

    pooky ((hugs))

Fuddle: to be honest were thinking of the same thing, but it will be hard moving to a 1 bedroomed flat / house. i'm thinking more of your dog and the lack of storage. Were currently in a large Victorian Terraced house which is a nightmare to heat.

Were actually looking outside of boro, where we live as its generally twice or three times the price of the surrounding towns including places like Stokesley, Brotton and Gusiborough. For instance on our street our rent is half the price of other houses on our street,
  • Just to make you all fell a little less ancient - I knew who Dennis Healey was and I'm a similar age to Fuddle (34), mind you I do come from quite a politically aware family located slightly to the left of Lenin!

We sent 2 tired but happy children to bed - been swimming today with friends and they are both jiggered - hopefully won't hear a peep til the morning now. OH off out tomorrow with his mum and bro to get a suit for the wedding so I plan to have a quiet day with the kids. We've been on the go non stop all week so I'm going to let the kids OD on cbeebies while I try and get a bit of revision done.

Flippin' eck Kez, Stokesley is where we wanna be, Brotton or Great Ayton. Private rental is out of our league in those areas so I feel for you. :(

I think he one bedroom is out for now at least. DH stays up watching TV while I like to go to bed to read. The thought of lying there reading with the telly blaring sends me into irritant overdrive!

I'll do that jamanda. Love the way you have to tell me to use a make up brush not a sweeping brush. you know me so well :D :rotfl:

I divvint nar owt stiltwalker. (I don't know anything) All I know is mining strikes and Maggie Thatcher nicked my milk at school ;)

H sorry the page closed down and it lost half of my post :o

Anyways back on the subject of housing etc my OH who never even engaged with me with the idea of renting a field is now seriously considering it.We are very lucky to live in our area, its not the best, but we are 10 minutes walk away from the town centre, 10 minute train journey away from redcar / saltburn. 20 minutes drive away from the north york moors, Direct trains to york and manchester with no changes. We are also close to primary school, fresh grocers, very multi-cultural and have two large very different parks to visit. We have a massive array of sshops to chose like next, m&S, primarke etc
But it is to expensive to live here now, rent is forever increasing and our council are rubbish.

Well the house is slowly getting there and the gutterings finally fied :j:j so fingers crossed the mould will stop growing:D

On the bad side my knee collasped again so i'm back to being pegleg again with a fetching black cast and crutches. sunshine Ouch thats nasty.:(

A friend of ours has a two cottage in guisbrough, fully fitted housem wood burner, gas ch garden garage and on the high street all for £430 a month! On my street 3 bed high ceilings large ish rooms very small yard no off road parkingm unfurnished i,e completely empty house between £575 to £650 its madness.
found a bargain two year ago 3 bed house in stokesley for £420 but couldn;t get to the signing because of the snow.

Kezlou - those sort of prices would be considered a bargain here, a friend of mine recently moved from a one bedroom apartment (over a pub) no parking, unfurnished and she was paying £550 a month. She rents a tiny two bed house now and is paying £895.
Saying that our house would rent at £995, its all silly money, I fail to see how people are supposed to afford the prices now. Looking in our local paper yesterday and the cheapest rent is £450 and that is a room in a flat share.

ETA - the price differential is whats confusing, our house is 5 beds and way bigger than my friends rental, in much better area, yet the smaller ones are renting at prices not far off the bigger ones, I can only assume that smaller properties are now much more desirable than bigger ones.
  • monnagran - We lived on a hill too when the offspring were little. I had a big black Marmet pram, and would push it up the hill with the baby inside, her sister (16 months older) on the pram seat on top (remember them?), and, a 3 year old twin hanging on the handle at each side! And they did hang! Don't know how we ever managed. No car, not on a bus route - just had to get on with it!

Oh, and when no. 3 was born the twins were 20 months, so my DH converted a pram seat so they could sit back to back, so I was pushing the three of them up the hill until the first two could walk a bit better.
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

My Aussie friend used to dye her eyelashes blue. One day she decided that she had a couple of white eyebrow hairs so she dyed her lashes then her eyebrows. Too late she realised that blue eyebrows were not a good look. She had to use black mascara on them for weeks.

I used to walk everywhere when my older kids were little. Up and down a steep hill about 3 miles with shopping a baby and a toddler. I was very thin in those days. I wish I had that energy now.

A thought occurred to me when reading about cow pats. With all this rain wouldn't you need a spoon to collect it?

LOL grandma that's true! I wish I had that energy again too...very much
A black cast kezlou ? oooh nice and Gothy!
Fuddle, you obviously come from a mining area like me - I had the Great Strike of 1926/Winston Churchill Turned the Army on the Miners embedded in my brain by the age of 5. Miners (quite rightfully) have long memories lol
