Germany - there is a lot of booze in that lot
US a lot of junk
Italy looks healthy apart from the pop
Mexico scarily too much pop
Poland looks good
Egypt also looks good.
Ecuador looks good too if a bit restricted but still healthy
Shingkey (looks like china) looks healthy too
Chad well it is pretty obvious they do not have enough. Was going to add something to that but changed my mind as too political. They do have food growing there but it is all for export to pay imf loans.
Indeed. I thought Mexico looked healthy until I saw that back shelf! It's the same over a lot of Asia, every drink is a fizzy drink.
Shame there isn't one for the UK, I wonder what that would look like.
Shingkey is in Bhutan, near Nepal. Very poor.0 -
I was similarly amazed at the sheer number of bottles in some of these pictures in that link - so much beer/lager/coke/pop that uses up money that could be used on nutritious food - but perhaps these families can afford to spend that way.December GC: £3500

It is partly to do with the way the soft drinks companies - particularly Fanta, which is much more common in Asia than here - penetrated the market in these countries years ago with cheap refills in the glass bottles.
Mind you I bet some British families would be showing that much pop too. And until 2 years ago there would have been far too much alcohol on our table too.0 -
I've been to the doctors today.
I've been having some difficulty. I'll leave it at that. I originally thought it was down to the healthier eating (if you look past the dumplings, steamed puds and yorkshire puddings!) and more wholesome foods being eaten every day. It's only this week or so that I've come to think it was something else as it hasn't gotten any better with the lower amounts I've been eating while on my diet - or cutting portions down.
I've to go back to make sure it's not an infection or food allergy but he did seem to think my symptoms ticked the irritable bowel syndrome routeI know it's nothing to worry about I just feel a bit lost. I feel like I've done it to myself, abused myself with over eating and indulging in rot for years. Because I have no real definition yet I have no advice to take away and work on so I'm left wondering what the heck IBS is all about and what I can do to help myself.
It's thrown my dieting up in the air and my meal plan! I'd best do some research. Wish I knew what was triggering it.0 -
Thanks once again to you all....
We seem to have a severe bed shortage at our hospital in as much that when we went up the other day to go on the asessment ward there was no beds, we had to sit in the corridor for 6 hours and that was where they took his bloods, temperature, etc and the dr came twice to speak to us there as there wasnt a bed to put him on, they said they wanted to do a ECG machine on him but they couldnt do that in his wheelchair not sitting upright , so that didnt happen either.........
Poor man was so tired out sitting in his chair for that amount of time, they never even offered us a cup of tea.............
Its not the most private place to be when you have a dr there to ask you questions etc and do medical things to him.......
I was very dissapointed but what could I say.....
You would have to be in a near dead situation to get into the hospital.............
So im now off to have a shower and get myself ready toget to the next appoinment this evening, probaly have to take some sandwiches with us for tea time, cos we aint gonna be back home till 8.30 ish, lovely weather today again , its super sunny indeed, so that help lift my mood a bit..........
I wanted to be home for (!!!!!!) wartime... at 8 BBC2, but thats doubtful me thinks......catch you all later.........0 -
Fuddle don't worry, you will find a way to manage it.
Shegar - what a rubbish situation, and so tiring for you both. Is it worth asking again if he can be admitted?0 -
Oh Shegar, sorry to say this seems to be par for the course with NHS in a lot of places
Fuddle - Doctors often use IBS as a catch-all for a number of different problems, so it does depend how you are being affected as to what you need to do to help. MiL was seeing a consultant for years with her IBS - sadly they never did find anything to help it. Not to say this will be the case with you. Don't blame yourself, much more likely this is something that would have happened whatever. Hope it improves soon.
Would some kind soul point me to the courgette curd recipe, I did not note it as I thought someone said it was in the 'We'll Eat Again' book, but can't find it?
Doh! found it - did not think to look under 'Lemon Curd' and its in the cartoon strip !Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Possession wrote: »Softstuff it was about 6 months ago so not sure now, but there were haribo-type sweets, rainbow drops-type things (multi-coloured puffed rice), some really yukky puffed snack thing i'd never heard of, some kind of lollipop, a cheap version of cola, some cheap chocolate and a couple of other things. Make of it what you will, LOL! I didn't feel very lucky, but then it was only £1.
Yup, my kids would love it if I got a box like that. I'm not entirely agains chocolate and Haribo, you understand, but I prefer they don't eat the really cheap garbagey brands. On the other hand ...yeah, they'd probably hoover it up, lol. I may struggle with what to do with a box like this, or just dole it out as controlled substances....:rotfl:Val.0 -

So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
Fuddle I have lived with IBS for over 30 years its annoying and can make you feel yuk, and other horrible things, but its not anything you did to yourself.
One big bod a Mr Smart who was visiting the hospital at the time of one of my appointments asked to see long term patients and I was one of them years ago explained it to me as imagine epilepsy of the bowel its the electric energy in the bowel going haywire. That is why for 99% of people diagnosed with it high fibre diets don't help in fact often make it worse. Some foods can make things worse as they disrupt the energy in the bowel.
Hugs and love to youxxx
Wanted to add I was 23 when diagnosed and had always eaten a healthy diet till then, was slim, fit and generally health yet hit by itNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
