Now we have gales in the North of the island (its only 40 km long and 20 wide lol) and there are reports of some damage...just been outside and its raining lightly and we saw two flashes of lightning in a couple of minutes. Its still very warm though even at five to eight!
Decided to do the sensible thing and go out for the evening (in the car I might add) ..so off to watch the Elvis impersonator if he is not cancelled due to the strange weather...then if he is we are off to see a group who sing songs we like and play magical guitars!!! They are fantastic and if I have to sit through a storm I would rather do it with a soda water and lemon in my hand than sitting in the house waiting for the electric to go off. Speaking of which I am off to put my lippy on before I can't see my lips LOL...have to unplug everything now as I can hear bolts of thunder a couple of miles away and there is no earth on the electrics here. Have a good evening new friends of minexxxxxx“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. We went on holiday at the beginning of August for three weeks and when we got back it seemed as if I would never catch up. It has taken me until today to finally get to current postings, though I managed to catch up earlier on some of the other threads I follow and I've kept up to date with those. But this is the thread I follow most regularly and I didn't want to just plunge back in without seeing what had been happening.
I'm so sorry that so many of you seem to be having troubles. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
I'm furious, well more than a bit miffed.
We have just bought 3 daylight bulbs from Amazon in an attempt to ward off SAD.
Arrived today - gosh how bright.
Less than 1 hour later one goes phut.
Not the fitting - that works OK
So half a bright kitchen and a conversation with Amazon.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -
A friend of mine recommends probiotic acidophilus (in tablet form from Holland & Barret etc) for virtually every kind of tummy upset. My hubby suffered from what seemed to be IBS and he tried it and thinks its some kind of miracle as he hasn't had a problem since. He takes regularly.
spot on kleopatra. The bacteria in probiotics line the gut and displace the bad bacteria. I have taken probiotics daily for a long time, the lacto bacillus and bifido type as they work on different parts of the gut.
I don`t get ibs these days but stress certainly brought it on in the distant past, even got caught out abroad and had to run into an estate agents in France, to ask if I could use their loo. Was so limiting as I always had to mark where the loos were before I went walkabout. Fizzy drinks of any sort are dire and so are waters like perrier and evian
I have always used lambertshealthcare as I get professional discount but am just trialling a pack from

((((shegar))))) sending healing vibes to you and to your OH. Makes me feel very pathetic about being sore and achy after my lady-test. Hope that the medication helps him.
Fuddle, hun, I've had IBS for about 15 years and it's seldom a real problem. You have gut probs, see the Dr, all the nasty stuff is eliminated at the hospital and the specialist tells me IBS is the "default diagnosis".
I had to keep a food diary for a month and then had appt with a NHS dietician. She said it was basically a good diet (and I didn't hide the sweeties lol) but told me to EAT LESS FIBRE. And there was me thinking I was doing the right thing with wholemeal everything............:rotfl:Most of the country gets told to eat more fibre and some of us are told to eat less.
It's no biggie as far as I'm concerned but it's definately a stress-trigger with me. Doesn't kick in too often but I've known it to ease within seconds of leaving the office, so that tells me something. If my gut spasms, I don't take anything, I get a hot bottle and rest it on my tum. Sorts it out in about 30 mins and it's so comforting. I've also found hugging a hottie to my tum is useful on those occasional evenings when I feel a bit poorly and out of sorts; take a hottie to bed. That extra bit of radiant heat on your tummy really seems to soothe the mind as well as the body.
Those acidi-wotsits didn't work for me and I loathe yogurty things as too much dairy triggers my IBS anyway. Take small amounts of milk in tea (4 pints a week) and modest amounts of cheese and any more than that and it gets nasty.
Anyway, TMI.:o Just didn't want you to think that it's the end of the world. HTH.
Been pootling about after work modifying my army surplus shirt to be my gardening shirt. Have done all the unpicking whilst talking to SuperGran in person and Mum on the phone. Glad to get that done before the light went. Will cut some off the sleeves and re-attach the cuffs, have taken of the epaulettes (and now have 2 spare buttons! I'm winning!) and taken off the collar and will close up the button stand with a line of stitching. Will probably do the machine sewing at some time this weekend.Still skiving off the ironing, VJsMum. I may wait until Sunday's washload and iron everything at once. Hope you enjoy Korea - a colleague of mine taught out there, TEFL. She has some very funny stories to tell...........:rotfl:
Anyroad, this isn't getting a kettle boiled. I shall eat the last of the GF snacks I bought yesterday on YS for 20p. Shop lady said they're gluten free as I went to pick them up, as if that was a deal-breaker and I grinned and said never mind, just so long as they're not sugar free! taste fine to me........Some of you may have seen a vegan chocolate called (I think) Plamil in the healthfood shop. I highly (dis)commend it as one of the nastiest things you will ever taste.
