I tried it once and got a brown stained loo, so would be loathe to repeat it!

I wonder if slugs would like and drown in cheap cola?

  • I'm furious, well more than a bit miffed.
We have just bought 3 daylight bulbs from Amazon in an attempt to ward off SAD.
Arrived today - gosh how bright.
Less than 1 hour later one goes phut.
Not the fitting - that works OK
So half a bright kitchen and a conversation with Amazon.

Jeepers hope you can get them replaced, I am still using biobulbs from last year although now bought ones that fit my lamps, couldn't get them last year

When working well they are great and I love the whiteness ttof the light.

I felt tired at 3.30pm yesterday and laid down for a doze, not something I do often and that was me till 5.30am today.

    Right will continue catching up

I think I get a bit of IBS as well - I certainly have a tender digestive system (hmm I guess the Korean meal i've just eaten on the plane won't help! :o) I don't each much fibre as I am much better when I don't.

Well, I'm here - business class was fun, but not worth the money (I didn't pay!), Korean brown rice green tea is minging and my taxi driver randomly started playing me a youtube clip of UB40!!

And that's all in the first hour!! :rotfl:

Must get some more daylight bulbs when I get back and some mega dose VIt D - thanks to whoever told us about that last year (think it was Mar), I really think it helped.

I have de-planed myself and am off to explore.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Fuddle I have, and always have had the constipation type of IBS so I keep a bottle of Lacalose in the fridge always if things get dire. Do not touch things like senocot, the pain is just not worth it. I have found as I drank more it as eased - then I get consultant for bladder saying drink less:mad: She wants me to drink no more than 2lts a day but that is just not enough for me.

Not quite sure what is up with my tummy as went to have a shower and when I got out was suddenly sick as not eaten since about 2pm yesterday with falling asleep at 3.30pm. Tummy is hurting a bit, but think that is from being sick - brought up zilch. sorry:oTMI

Could be catarrh I guess, used to get this a lot when I smoked but as not done so for nearly 8 months thought that had stopped.

Hubby should have been off today as on a weeks holiday but they begged him to go into day and so I have to get out on my own to put money on prepay cc as our bank for some reason is suddenly(well past 4/5 months) if I transfer on Friday will not send till Monday. So pay day today and paid things like rent, water rates and WTC repayment that I pay by standing order so they will arrive Monday and DDs will come out Monday but I want to get some things on-line so need money on cc today.

That WTC repayment of £50 a month is a killer, at least only paying back £800 not the £6k they asked for first, daft when I have to pay even that back as if hubby did 30hrs a week or more we would not have to and the would still be giving us money, as only paying back what we had from April, although they at first tried to say as he was not doing 30hrs we had to pay every penny we had ever had back till I asked where did the law say that. Funny how they then suddenly realised it was a mistake, but I wonder how many didn't question and are paying everything they ever had back.

According to our wonderful government if you work part-time then you must be work shy and lazy and so don't deserve any help, not that fact you cannot get a full-time job, as woman in WTC told me there are lots of jobs out there if my husband bothered to look, but funny she couldn't tell me of any. This is when I wish I could work as I was always the higher earner,(of course I might still be unemployed now, who can tell) as hubby has no qualifications having left school at 14 and never wanted to study again although he actually went into an office and was trained in accounting, but back then you could not use work to gain qualifications unless you went to night school so when he was made redundant all those years doing that counted for nothing. Met many people over the years in same boat, can do plenty and better than those with degrees but nothing on paper to prove it so they are classed as unskilled labour.

    Right rant over.

Am dying for a cuppa I wonder if tummy will like it, ah well can but try.

    :) Morning all.

Glad to hear that you're deplaned, VJsMum, and sorry to hear that business class was a disappointment. I've always wondered what I'm missing and it seems less than I thought.

Well, sitting over the PC hugging a hot bottle and thinking evils about that nice nurse lady, she was whipping that spatula around up there like she was making cake. :p. Urggh. I expect it will pass in a few more hours. I could cheerfully go back to bed and sleep the morning away but that's not an option until Saturday, and then I shall have an allotment to tend.

PAH hope your tea settles your tum and you have a better day than yesterday.

OK, ought to get some brekkie so I can take meds as they mustn't sit on an empty stomach or they'll eat their way thru your stomach lining like acid and the first you'll know about it will be when you have an ulcer. I do think the doctor could have said that with a little less relish; I need another health problem like I need a good kicking - not.

Have a good 'un (or a less-bad 'un, if that's as good as it'll get today) everyone. GQx

Hi all just delurking to say VJ's mum try babimbap if you can it's rice with veg and a bit of mince and a sauce with a raw egg stirred in to the very hot cooked dish at the table so it cooks. I have had this Korean dish in Japan and Bristol and cook it at home.

Have a great time and hope the jetlag is slight.

  • Quick update while I have the electric and internet working..both at the same time. The fire is well and truly out as we have had torrential rain and storms since my last post. The lightning was truly spectacular and the whole island now smells of earth and olive trees...its an amazing smell and its lovely and fresh.

We went out to the music night and it was great. All the tourists had taken shelter in the bar and there were locals in as well. The group played through three power breaks, hail hitting the glass roof over their head and lightning shows that Spielberg would have been proud of. They sang all the favourites from 1960 onwards so we could all join in and a great night was had by all!

We laid in till 9am this morning as we could both hear the rain bucketing down the roof and into our filtered rain storage tank. The village down from us have been ringing their church bells non stop since eight this morning so I think they may have been flooded. My local tv signal is off (as is CNN and Sky news is almost unwatchable) so I can't get any local updates till I either get on the local forum or find the floods in our car!

I will go back and read your updates for the few pages I have missed then add my comments. This weather looks set in for three or four days (we get continuous storms here that last for days at times) and unfortunately tonight is our party for both our birthdays at the other side of the island).

Just as I said that we got CNN back for two minutes, just in time to see a weather warning that we have horrendous storms over Albania, Italy and Greece and may get tornadoes!!!!!!! A couple of years ago we were driving to the DIY warehouse when we stopped at the top of the mountain and could see three huge tornadoes over on the mainland....and my camera batteries had run out! I never forgave myself....catch up with you later peeps.

  • Morning everyone.

Up late this morning, 6.20  didn't even wake to look at the clock several times though the night dare I say it I SLEPT THROUGH :j

Hubby has been trying to lay slabs all week to put my "new to me" cat pens on but it looks like rain will stop play again today :( The mess that's getting dragged in by the dogs is a full time occupation clearing it up so the sooner it's finished the better.

Our one eyed foster cat is doing really well, you wouldn't think he has only just had it removed. Hopefully his coat will improve and he won't look so bedraggled.

Dogs must be walked so will have to get the water proof trousers out.

    Have a great day
