On BBC 1 tonight theres a programme on at 7.30 called Cash Britain they are talking about the current economic climate, so that willprobely be a good watch........................
I know a lot of you said you woke up to a white frost this morning, well it went down to 9 degrees here last night, you probaly say" so what" , but weve been having night time temps of a round 14 so it was quite a drop, I actually had to put my socks on last night when I watched a bit of TV, also put a blanket over me, thats way to early in the year to start being cold, our day time temp reached 17 today where normally it has been around 23, but it is nice and sunny.......................
My tomatoes didnt come to much this year, when I think what it cost me to buy the plants and the food and the compost I could have bought enough toms to last me 2 yrs, never mind I think I will give tom growing a rest next year..........
Ive been clearing some of the died off perrenials today and clearing up the rest of the runner beans, they did crop well this year..........
Ive got some coal in ready for when we do light the fire, and a bit of credit on the gas and elec metre, so thats a start...............
They are predicting another cold long winter, oh dear me I really dont like October to February, and wish March was here already............
Children back to school next Wednesday here, I bet the parents cant wait ..!!.I did use to love having my 2 boys on holidays, at this time of year we would go and start finding twigs and broken branches ready to light the fire come September, and pick blackberries, mind you when I walk the dogs now I cant resist a broken branch laying in the hedge,...............Its a habit.......0 -
well as many here know I'm married to a longsuffering postman :rotfl:
Its all gone a bit pearshaped recently due to their um efficiency drive where in some offices (ours included) the computers have worked out the routes and they now have 2 postmen in van instead of on bikes..the postie in the van does all the specials then his route whilst the other one does his..OH has not managed to finish his round yet and they started the changeover back in June
Believe me your posties are as frustrated as the customers are0 -
Children back to school on Monday here - my two aren't very impressed! New school shoes and trainers today so that's another £53 down the drain. I picked up the double slanket too and there certainly is a lot of fleece but I think my children would be heartbroken if I cut it up,they love it. Although I foresee arguments when they don't want to sit so close to each other on the sofa. DS's duvet stayed in one piece last night too so thumbs up for the velcro and I feel a tiny bit more prepared for the colder weather.
Byatt you are wonderful!!!0 -
Thank you all so much for all your kind wishes and support.
I have attended interview and I think it pretty much as I suspected, they already have someone in mind but as the position is funded they have to advertise too. But hey it was an experience. They will let everyone know next week they said as they have interviews Monday and Tuesday.
As for the support group I have decided to not reply yet, and when I do reply it will be by email rather than a Facebook message. I am not going to apologise or use the words I am sorry, because I am not, I do find that I end up doing that alot - I am sorry you feel that way but.... when I am really not sorry. Am carefully wording a reply that I intend to copy to both the trustee members and the council.
Have sent the message onto another member of the group and they are appalled. So it is not just me at least.
Shegar - I am dreading next week more than I used to when I attended school - I hate the kids going back.
I also managed to fit in having my Xray today too just got my blood tests to do on Monday, will then call GP and request a proper appointment and some better pain meds, an MRI, referral to physio, and anyone else they can think of - gonna blitz attack this back thing, am not going to let it beat me.
PAH - my mum always swears by TJs for nice glasses, fruit bowls etc
I am not sure who it was who had taken their food store upstairs - just wanted to say that its a good idea, if a house floods the upstairs is usually not affected so the store would be saved.0 -
Byatt:- you are wonderful! You cope with a hell of a lot and still keep going. Just so you know ...we notice:)
Peony:- Your foggy post made me laugh, DH and I are are so used to him finishing my sentences now, we forgot that we do it! It's the reading the wrong words that I struggle with, it's such a pain rereading things when they don't make sense. Good thing I don't dispense to patients anymore God knows what wrong thing I would give them!:rotfl:
The weather is odd here now, wet and miserable. I think it's going to be a Bacon, Egg, Tomato, Black Pudding and saute'ed potato evening and yes, when we are full to bursting there's an Apple Crumble asking to be eaten!! If winter is going to last nine months I am going to look like a House end!:eek:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
meme - I am drooling at the thought, I have brought the SC out and we are having a risotto, havent had it in ages so I thought it would make a tasty change - but am now so envious of your bacon, egg and sauted potato.0

Aww if you want a blog you should have one and ignore the nasty people, i really like blogs i think i'm just nosery tbh and i want to know ither peoples ideas, i really like ones with lots of piccys of yummy food or carft/quilting things.
I went to a auction last night now i'd never been to one before but theres 2 a week in different places near us, and it was packed loads and loads of things, a surprising amount of things considering they have one weekly, if you were on the look out for a bargain it would be very good, they had dessers going for £5 and chairs for £1, i loved a coat rack but i went intending not to spend money so i didn't :A but it was in good condition and solid mahogany(sp?) and went for £15, we went for my mil to bid on chairs that matched hers she got 6 chairs for £65 a wooden pew about 6ft long for £38 so did very well.DEC GC £463.67/£450

We saw lots of bats last night
and heard them chittering away, thanks to the bat detector. I like bats, I have no idea why people are scared of them. They are furry things with wings, what's not to like? :rotfl:
I feel so very angry about the ATOS stuff and what the government is doing to the sick, disabled and poor in this country. I live in fear of becoming disabled, although officially I am classed as disabled due to hearing loss and depression. I am fortunate because I have learned to manage the depression. It does have an impact on my life but I'm coping well. I know it's not 'all in the mind' (pun intended!) as every time I try to cut down my anti-depressants I become ill again. I'm just thankful I can work most of the time and am not totally reliant on benefits because the worry of that would be just awful, never knowing when your turn to be cut off will come.
Kidcat, what a waste of money that interview process was for the organisation, then. And wrong to raise your hopes and the hopes of other candidates, some of whom may have been desperate for a job due to their financial situation.
The dogs need a walk and it's just started raining .... It's very autumnal here, the season has definitely turned. I just hope this means we will have a long autumn and not an early and long winter!
Went to Aldi earlier and bought some chocolate. I fear this may have been a bad move ....
ETA: Aldi's raisins and sultanas, up from 84p a bag to 99p a bag, that's a rise of 13%.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Hello SMILEY - DD1 and I went to Munich last summer and while we were there we went to the zoo. They have a bat enclosure where you can go in and the bats are flying free all round you, they are so fast and so accurate with their flying the only way you get touched is if you move suddenly. It was something neither of us will forget in a hurry, delightful!!!!! Hope BRUNO is now fully fit and enjoying life again. Poor DOCKY is currently soaking wet as I didn't realise he had come into the polytunnel while I was watering and got hom full on poor boy, I just hope he doesn't grow into a greyhound as everything in the poly is humungous!!! He he he Cheers Lyn and her boy xxx.0
