Re: ghillie/kelly kettles? Is there anyway that you can cook on them? I mean cook up pasta or noodles, that kind of thing?

I have all my stock pile in the upstairs cupboard. Completely impractical in many ways but I can get to and see everything at a glance now. I'm happy with it, although I imagine some kiddies getting in there for some midnight feasts! :rotfl:

Dog treats? Is it possible to make dog treats at home, home made?

Time to think of saving my bread ends, bacon lard etc to make bird cake too. Can birds eat currents?

That's Ok, Pah, I totally understand...hope you enjoy it, I love Nella...

Well I would have retired next year, but now it's 2017 I think, it may be 2018, because they increased it by another 6 months. I am going to start a counselling course, I've done the intro, so it's the next step. I have been putting it off because of my brain fogginess and not retaining things, but need to have another ...what is it under the belt?! Knife? stick?

Anyway, Byatt, I think you're wonderful and you keep bouncing back despite been run over by a herd of giraffe or is that Jiffy Trolleys on a frequent basis... :A:rotfl::o

(just need to say that to myself today...:o)

Yes you can! You can get add ons, or make do and mend I suppose, but I was looking in to it...you take off the water boiling part and continue to use the fire part which is covered with a rack.

Good idea about the bird cake...I think they can eat currants, but you should give them a soak. I've given them currant cake. :D

I usually like winter but this one has come too soon and didn't have a spring or summer before it. I could do with a nice daylight bulb in a wee lamp for the knitting.
Fuddle - I have a theory. (:) just the one lol) - I think pathetic/spiteful/nasty/insecure people have a very good eye for the ones who are stronger and coping. And that's why they all form into a pack and come after you. It says a hell of a lot more about them than it does about the rest of us! Sort of compliment really :)

    Under your belt Byatt ;)

Back of the net re: the kettle then :D Brilliant. I hadn't thought about soaking the currents. Good idea :)

Well Mar I've had an avatar change, probably in defiance, who knows. I think this one says kind of tough but nice housewife, where the other one said just 'nice'. Can youall remember the one I used to have - a figure with a heart but under a constant rain cloud? I have come a long way. Thanks, it's all your fault on this thread ;)

Fuddle my ghillie kettle, if it ever arrives, has the pot stand, saucepan and frying pan as part of the set - they sit on top of the kettle, same with the storm and kelly. Its a bit like cooking on the old camping stove but as long as kettle is on flat ground, the pot stand has sides to hold pot in place so will not fall off, there is a handle that detaches for ease of packing away.

    Hugs and Love to allxxx

You can feed birds currants, but be sure to keep anything with rasins in away from dogs!!! It makes them poorly the same way as chocolate.

My dogs are insanely jealous of the birds fat balls... EYEROLL!!! They get really excited if they manage to get hold of one (you know when they drop in half or something!)

Yes you can make dog treats, I dare say you can google millions of recipes. They have a book in The works at the moment too, cos' DD and I both bought it. Not tried anything yet, but did buy a big bone shaped cutter :o

For anyone like me to stingy to pay even the £14 for the wartime farm book, someone just posted and I just bought, the book people are selling it for £6.99 and if you put book people codes into forum search you will find a thread that has another link to a post with a free delivery code in it, but finishes on the first - I used it and paid the £6.99 all together for book and pp so now looking forward to it, That is more that top price I like to pay for books unless they are by Terry Pratchett for him I pay full price.......:D
