I make it a 13.5% increase on the teabags.;)

Just had home made bread and lentil soup (ingredients bought well over a year ago cough!)

Rummaged through freezer and have YS fishcakes and meatballs for tonight. Might add some haddock fillets (also YS) and bake from frozen.

    Good luck with the interview.

kidcat I had bad spd when I was pregnant and was on crutches from 3 mths. physio helped, but i was still suffering until recently and DD2 is nearly 5. I found exercises to strengthen the core muscles have really helped and I don't seem to have flare ups anymore.
fuddle brilliant news about the job, well done.

who was going on the batwatch? I hope you enjoyed it. I took the girls to a free batwalk on the local park and all the children got a chance to be in charge of the bat detector. it was a lot of fun even though we only saw one bat.
errrm and someone has an interview coming up as well? I'm sorry, must remember to multi quote or make notes or something, lol. best of luck for the interview. i agree smart trousers and a blouse would be best. kidcat, just been back and checked, sorry :) good luck :)

I picked up and old fork, spade and hoe from a lady off freegle this morning, which means I now have enough tools on the allotment for when I have helpers :D

While I was out I stopped at the ethnic SM and picked up enough spices for the rest of my chutneys for less than half of the price I would have paid and one of the big shops.

I also had a bit of a mooch round the CS's but couldn't find anything that would come in useful.
All the wool was more expensive than it would have been new and none of the books were what I was interested in so 7 charity shops later my purse was still firmly shut. Oh, and next time I go round the charity shops I'll be taking a length of rope with me...to tie the girls up with, they were horrible :( they look like angels and have chosen matching dresses to wear today, just a shame their behaviour was less than beautiful
It's probably just as well mum was out when we called round for a drink ;)

  • Gulp went to bed early and lots of chat..........Fuddle please don't let anything said put you off blogging, just delete the posts and carry on. If this doesn't sound to patronising can I say how proud I am of you, you are standing on your own two feet, working and paying your own way. Many out there could learn from you. I do mean that in the nicest of way I am proud to know you. No one should be hounding you because of your past, you held your hands up, admitted you got things wrong and that should be it over. Forget the nasty comments and whoever made them, they are not worth getting upset over. You just stand proud of what you are achieving now ((((Fuddle)))

Sunshine I agree just send a card(you are the better person) and forget the wedding, she had no right booking a room for you without consulting you first. Its the embarrassment of having to cancel it (and most probably more than one) that will be getting her, not you not going.

That reminds me hubby and I have an evening do to go to for one of his bowls team on 14th Sept. Thankfully I have the red velvet Laura Ashley dress I bought in CS in Jan, I knew it would come in handy sometime and was only £8 but looks like new, so that is outfit sorted, have booked hairdresser, just must remember to budget for it, but luckily hubby gets paid that day. Need to check hubbys clothes out, he can just wear his one and only suit, but will get him to try it on to check all ok. My hubby hates with a passion smart clothing, hence only one suit and about 4 shirts and a few more ties as he has had them bought as presents. He is happier in polo shirts but I will not let him wear one for the evening do, he will argue and try and persude me to let him wear one (polo shirt), he always does. Honestly the boys were easier to dress for functions than him.

Still have to get a present anyone any ideas? I know nothing about them and hubby no help. I don't know if they live together already or not. What is good as a wedding present these days around what £25 does that sound ok for people we don't know and are in their 20's I think.

Kidcat don't know if I am to late to send my best wishes for today. For me an interview means smart clothing, but then am ancient and was brought up to that, crivens I still have to fight the urge to dress smart to go to the doctors no matter how bad I feel, mum brought us up to do this and brainwashed me well.

Re Universal Tax and Bedroom Tax its not just ordinary people that don't know about it, one of my sisters works for CAB and when I mentioned it to her last month she didn't know what I was talking about and when I explained said at the moment they just know what is needed for people now and they will be being taught about Universal Credit over the next few months. Not sure if that is just her CAB or all.

Areas that have high amounts of pensioners are going to be more expensive places to live for those on benefits or low income with less money being available to go round so less HB or CTB will be paid to them.

We could claim HB/CTB but don't as it would disappear next year but after the way they treated us last time we had to claim in 2004/5 when hubby was off work for 8 months and only SSP(it was then social told me I could claim IB I had always presumed as hubby worked I could not claim anything in my own right) and I had finally accepted my working days were over for the moment- I refuse to accept I might never work again, one day I might just wake up and be ok and stay that way. Opps forgot to say how they treated us, minute hubby was back in work they told us HB/CTB was only a loan and had to pay it back so we were stuck paying basically double rent and council tax for year so now unless I know we will never be in position of earning again I am doing my best not to claim a penny. We did have an advisor trying to stop the council from taking it back but our council is and always has been a law unto its self and they have to pay for their jaunts to places somehow, nothing gets better here, they have closed nearest police and fire stations and now nearest are 6 miles away unless they come from stations outside city boundaries, you would think we live in middle of countryside not one of the biggest cities in uk, but this place is all for show since Derek Hatton days ( we lived round the corner from him at the time and his children went to school with mine, horrible man )and living on the Beatles legacy sorry I really hate this city. I hate being stuck here but HA will not let you transfer outside and although we keep looking cannot find anywhere reasonable to live privately that is still within commuting distance for hubby.

Mar I so agree with you gov just wants us all fighting and arguing among ourselves so we don't bother them.

  • Sorry about all the posts but been reading and replying bit by bit since 8am and ended up with a rather long post that I know doesn't go down well with many so sending them by subject.

Well am not happy with Post Office. Postman came today with another couple of parcels but told me he could not find the parcels from Wednesday that I had missed so had asked to be delivered again today. I had seen him yesterday and told him this so this morning he looked for them and no sign, not even the special delivery one( Ghillie Kettle) he didn't know where they had gone. Called Royal Mail and they spoke to sorting office who told them they don't have them and have no idea what happened to them when they were returned undelivered on Wednesday. So been told to leave it till Monday if no luck then I will have to get on to places I bought things from and tell them their parcels had gone missing, snag is apart from Ghillie kettle at this moment I am not sure what they other two were, one most likely more Biobulbs but other one could be one of 3 and until everything else is delivered I cannot say.

Similar thing happened last year when I was waiting for kindle, missed postman, asked for redelivery and nothing came, when I phoned parcels had gone missing, there were about 6 that time and none ever surfaced and boy did I have fun with some places over none delivery as of course no proof I didn't receive things sent via normal post. Kindle was easier thing to be replaced Am@n sent a replacement as soon as I told them.

    Hugs and Love to allxxx

  • Peony40 my heart goes out to you, being a fellow fibro sufferer I understand totally about fibro fog, drives you nuts and can be scary - dr thought at first I had early on-set dementia but thankfully no and it does clear after a while and I get my mind back, but horrible while its happening and you know your mind should be working better, that you should not be looking at something right in front of you and not know the name for, I personally find that the worst thing, am forever saying to hubby what is that thing called, pointing to it, he is used to me doing so now.

Hope you start feeling a bit more clear headed soon

    Hugs and Love to youxxxx

Kidcat I am  on your behalf. I doubt that woman would be happy if someone gave photos of her family to council and then found them being used without her permission, she would be first to complain I would guess. Horrible, Horrible woman she is.

She definitely needs taking down a peg or two, oh how I hate these jobs-worthy types:mad:

Good Luck and you outfit sounds spot on

    Good afternoon to all.

Been back to the vet this morning - vastly relieved that as Mattie's ear has gone right down she thinks she'll just keep an eye on it. Made appt. for next Weds. She actually came out to see us in the car park, as we opted to wait outside, as the surgery was full of the sort of yappy mutts Miss Mattie particularly dislikes...still cost me a tenner though :rotfl:

Decided to buy a euro millions ticket. A pretty rare event for me, and a measure of how fed up I am!

Saw a nice cookery mag in the Newsagents and bought that too, it's got a lush looking cake on the front with pink, vanilla and choccie layers! Nom, Nom. Also had a thought as I have cake left over most weeks, I was toying with putting a sign in the window to say HM cake for sale (a lot of walkers pass) and on the way home this thought extended to a pop-up tea shop - say once a month...I think I will look into that, as we already have the dining room sorted, I'd just need to squeeze another table or two in, and they could use the B&B loo (I've no bookings now!)
That could work for me... a few extra squids over the winter.

Between you me and the gatepost (and half a squillion lurkers :rotfl:) there are noises being made at w*rk that they may have to close by Christmas being bandied about. DD is already planning her escape and has an interview next week. If they do close it will be very sad, as it's a community thing, but honestly they need a flaming business manager, as not one person there (in charge) seems to have a handle on running things in a financially viable way. Bit de-motivated with all that TBH. There are only so many times you can make the same suggestions...

Talking of things being bad too, I heard a woman being interviewed in Radio 4 the day they paralympics opened. They were part of the demo taking part that day regarding ATOS (ironic sponsor of the paralympics) She said that 7 - yes SEVEN friend of hers over the last year, who had had their benefits stopped having been told they were fit for work, had killed themselves :(

I can't find any links to it anywhere, although there are a number of links if you google ATOS to the shocking way they are treating people. I suspect this is another story that has been silenced...I might be straying into tin hat territory here, but it seems to me that it is often the case that you hear something shocking, and then all traces of the story disappear. I'm certainly worried about my friend in London. She can't find work, and is going to have to give up her dog to DD and BF here in Wales. That's the sort of thing that can push someone struggling over the edge....

The money they're supposedly saving by cutting benefits is all going to ATOS for the contract. Its a disgrace.
