Its right by Mr M, in the centre.
Thats the bat walk I am going to take DS to, I love Speke Hall and usually take the kids but its hard as DS8 always races about, there are a few national trust places I would really like to wander about at leisure, so OH have agreed that once kids are all settled into school or whatever we will make it a thing to visit at least one a month.
My parents gift us a family ticket to national trust every year and I really do try to use it as much as possible. DS14 really loves history and whilst he is not going to formal school I am intending making it a project for him, will choose one property (likely to be speke hall) and then get him to research the house, from build methods, history of the house, the family, the grounds and the area.
He can then present it in booklet form and a power point presentation. Then he can do some drawings for Art and I was also thinking of him making a scale model too.
I reckon theres a few weeks work there and covers alot of subjects , keep him busy and occupied.
Sounds like you should get PAH to talk to him and help his researchshe'll know all about it and how to do the research too.

Byatt - you are a kind, caring and inspiring person, please do not forget this :A
Charliesaunt - we are OS who on earth has room in the freezer for shoes!!:rotfl:
Have overdone it the past few days I think and am now feeling exhausted, sore and nauseous.
Havent made it the shops today, and when Ds had a meltdown earlier it was because we had run out of apples and Fab ice lollies!!! Thankfully my dad was here fixing DD chest of drawers to the wall and putting the new punch bag up outside and he offered to nip to Mr T and grab them for me. Crisis averted and trip out saved.
Hoping to have a quiet weekend and rest up before Monday when we are off for our final summer outing, my parents are taking us to Stoke to see the monkeys and i really want to be fitter.
Can I ask two things please? Firstly can anyone borrow a scooter from the disability places or do you need a blue badge and second how easy are they to drive? I dont think I can manage to walk all the way around the monkey forest and was thinking it may be an idea.
It would also serve a dual purpose as my dad has real mobility problems and uses a walking stick but refuses the idea when we go out of borrowing a scooter (its a pride thing) but ends up in alot of pain afterwards, am hoping that if he sees me willing to have a go it may make him reconsider.
Kittie posted a link to leeks the other day and am planning on buying some - does anyone know if I can plant them in bags/pots rather than the ground.0 -

Try putting a plastic bag full of water in each of your shoes, push well down so they 'fill' the shoe, secure the bags in place with thick rubber bands and put them in freezer overnight.
As the water expands, it gently and evenly stretches the shoe - may have to repeat the process a few times if they are really tight.
The amount of times my mam asked me to wear her new high heeled (I have bigger feet) shoes when I was a teenager to stretch them or 'Wrax them in' no wonder I'm strictly a no heel gal. I so wished I knewthat then Charlie's Aunt.stored 'up there' in case I ever need it again.

Thanks PAH that would be brilliant - have told him about my plans and he is really excited about it.
Smiley - could you apply to your council/schools to do some governor clerking. Its paid an hourly rate that includes travel I believe and I know in our area they have real difficulty getting people to do it as its usually not office hours - but would be ideal for you to supplement a part time day job.0 -

Ooh, now there's an idea, I never knew that job existed! Thank you Kidcat, I shall have a poke around the local council's website and a few local schools and see what happens!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

I actually took them back to the shop as they were an expensive "comfortable" brand and had a bit of a strop. In a polite but firm manner as they'd carved gouges into my heels. They took them back and gave me a credit note which I spent on a pair of flatties. Wasn't impressed as I'd paid good money to be comfortable in a medium dressy heel and if I'd wanted my feet pinched and carved I'd've gone to a cheap store and spent a tenner.Never cross a CAB adviser, we know our consumer rights.
Well, I've had to replace my 6 y.o. Nokia HausBrik (one model up from yoghurt-pots-and-string) with another Nokia. GQ to saleswoman; I want your cheapest most idiot-proof model.
So I have it but it's still cleverer than I am. Have just been sending inagugral texts to my besties and had to fight with predictive text. Never had that before. Worked out how to stop it one text at a time (##) but is there any way to turn it off permanantly? It's already getting on my wick and I've only done 2 texts................:rotfl:
Actually, I had a lovely time with the chappie in the phone shop who was unlocking the phone to take my ASDA sim and laughingly admitted to being a bit technophobic (true) and he ruefully said he was probably in the wrong job because he didn't like phones much.
I quipped back that he'd rather be working with horses (it popped into my head and out of my mouth in a trice, no idea why) and he gave me a very strange look and said I was right. Woo-woo, having a spooky moment. I'm sometimes a little bit uncanny.;) But I don't talk to dead people unlike Mardywotsit, nyah nyah na nah!;):p

There's a business locally who's initials are CBA. Some of their stuff has it on as a logo. I really, really can't believe that whoever chose it didn't think that through, as they are all young enough to be computer savvy - it's an outdoor activity company!!!! CBA...LOL!!!!
