Happy nearly birthday SDG.
Kidcat I have borrowed a wheelchair from our local Shopmobility before I had the knee replacements and could have had a mobility scooter. I think it cost a small amount for a week. Maybe google your local Shopmobility? For some reason ours is in a car park.
It seems odd to think now that 2 years ago I had to hire a wheelchair to get around town. I hated it and wouldn't do it again so that was my only trip out.0 -
elona - I do that too and it irks OH. although I went to the hospital today and it was free to park if you were under one hour, I thought no chance am bound to be here at least three hours, was very pleasantly surprised to only take thirty minutes so no charge.0

Thank you will look tomorrow, am hoping to get it organised tomorrow and have a little practice before attempting to not run over any monkeys on Monday. DS8 is very excited at the thought, he said " that means you can carry extra jammy dodgers mum and I can take my sword, shield and ax!!:rotfl:
Should point out they are not real swords, but we went to camelot theme park yesterday and he was entralled by the knights - although slightly disappointed they couldnt joust as the ground was too boggy for the horses. I predict weeks of him trying to ride the dog whilst "jousting" with his huge branch he "rescued" from the forest!!:rotfl:0 -

short fat and dumpy is me so not likely to find anyone famous like me although years ago when I managed to get my red locks more blond I was taken quite a few times for Su Pollard - was nice and thin then. I remember once hubby had car to go somewhere out of city and youngest son was in hospital so I had nipped home to check on others, friend was babysitting and was at bus stop to get first of 3 buses back to hospital when a coach drew up and all these woman were convinced I was Su. They were a bingo group doing a tour and heading into city and they would not take no for an answer it was all nod, nod, wink, wink, we understand you have to have your privacy. I got lift to hospital out of it and ended up signing many autograph books - with my name I assure you - they all promptly wrote Su's name next to it, saying they understood I couldn't sign my 'real name' as that would give the game away. This was at 5am and I had not slept for a couple of days and if it wasn't for the souvenirs they insisted I had I would have though I dreamt it. Other times were in around London as when mum was alive we were forever there (she lived in South Woodford) so usually was just double takes and looks but not many actually spoke to me. I never thought I looked much like her but others obviously did. I think it was the glasses, not like hers but big as they were in the '80s....

Meryl Streep?! Actually, although not as close as it might have been, it's not as far from reality as a random selection of famous women might be. My nose is straighter, though!
Righty, enough jollification, I really must go to bed. Sleep tight, my lovelies, and we'll reconvene around the cauldron tomorrow.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just de-lurking to wish happy birthday to SDG.
Lovely new avatar fuddle.
I can't keep up with this thread - there seems to be pages and pages every time I look!
Whoever was making Yorkshire puds - did they come out well?
I make mine in a big roasting tin with 3" sides and they always rise.
Kidkat - sorry about the job. My DD had lots of interviews before she eventually got a permanent job, but the best advice she had was to ask for feedback afterwards, so you can improve your interview technique.
Fuddle - hope the CRB check comes through quickly.2025 Fashion on the ration

We have been invited to a cousins wedding in a few months, it is about 90 minutes drive away at a very posh hotel. The invitation which arrivied today states that they have made a pre booking for a room for us overnight with breakfast at ONLY 90 pounds.I havent even said we were going yet.
I have just added up the cost for the two of us to go including present, clothes, room, drinks, and travel well over 200.
So I rang her first to explain that as I had lost my job and I had to budget very carefully we could not accept the invite and could she cancel the room.
Well all hell broke out and she started screaming how could I do that too her I ended up hanging up.
Do you think I did the wrong thing, she made me feel really bad.:(
Sunshine - I would have done exactly the same in your position. Fortunately we haven't had to do the same for family but have for a friend in the past - I didn't do it lightly but had no choice but to say thanks for invite but so sorry we can't come. A reasonable person would be reasonable - I hope you don't mind me saying that your cousin doesn't sound reasonable, more like a spoilt child having a tantrum. Don't let others make you feel bad, they have no right to. You can't change other's behaviour but you can choose how to react to it. Hold your head up high. You have put your own family's needs first, the only reasonable and sensible option.
