The sock thing to help put 'em on is called actiglide, and you get them from chemist's, only reason I know is because both Dad and OH have to wear suport sock's.hth.
Thank you for that boult dj, I'll look into it!
I wouldn't care I only wear very short socks that just fit over the heel:p"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

We have a local disability sales centre, and they sell all things to help people with disabilities, my dad gets his walking stick bottom thingys from there and he has bought jar openers etc for my mum with her arthritis, its worth a look if you have one near by Pops, as because he is registered disabled he gets it all VAT free.
I sent him ages ago to buy a bath overflow monitor for my friend who kept flooding her bathroom and then calling in a panic (usually after 11pm) so they really do sell a good variety of stuff.0 -
Pops, I live alone - during term time I make a small slow cooker full of stew or pea & ham casserole type stuff - it makes four or five meals depending on what I put with it, and when it's ready and I've had my first meal out of it, I just let the SC cool then bung it in the fridge for the week.
I do this because I have a very small freezer and a lazy attitude to getting stuff out to have for tea - I don't mind having the same thing every night either.
I hve to be careful that I sound sorry for myself(I actually like my company)I'm sure that you do too and I appreciate so many of us do, young and old, by circumstances often rather than by choice but that's a great suggestion putting the pot in the fridge...
I can eat the same meal a few days on the trot or just add or take something away...thank you...well I often find mtyself soing that with variations on salad.
I never got my bacon sandwich or cereal...again. So now I think its mackeral from the fridge, don't know if I can warm it up, someone said a couple of minutes in the microwave would be ok...some potatoes and vegetables.
May have the rest tomorrow...
May still have my bacon sandwich for supper or overnight...if I am up in the wee small hours..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Byatt: Oh yes. They can stop benefits without warning. I know someone who had his HB stopped with no notification whatsoever. He was appalled when the baliffs arrived to evict him because his rent had not been paid for 3 months. The council told him that they were under no obligation to tell him anything! Fortunately when it went to court the judge gave the council a right telling off.
And that's why I panic about the future and whether I could be made homeless even though everyone tells me it won't happen...I really am doing not that bad if things stay much as they are now. If I'd been born earlier in Mum's marriage I'd be almost retired now and probably would be left alone...then again with Government I'm not so sure.
I missed the post about Byatt, I do hope everything works out ok...
This on top of Byatt's Sister's illness and Byatt's own health problems too. They just seem to like keep piling on more c*** and worry those who already have too many problems in their lives..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Pops - I will happily eat the same thing for a few days, when oH worked evenings years ago I would often feed the kids and then cook something for myself later that lasted a few days.
I remember going to Costc@ and buying a piece of salmon, cutting it into portions and eating it for five days in a row. OH wouldnt even entertain such a thought now of course.
Painkillers have arrived and have taken a full dose but so far they have only taken an edge off the pain, which is better than nothing.0 -
Hope that they kick in soon Kidcat. I had toothache last night and took two co-dydramols and they worked and dare I say the toothache has disappeared since then...I also covered the tooth in chewing gum in case the air was getting to the nerve...
I know backahe is bad when you need painkillers so I hopr you soon get some relief...
I'm easy to please even though I like food...so I can make the same meal quite often too. I did take 8 books back to the CS and brought one home meant for teaching children simple recipes so it will be great for me too;)and it was only 99p."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Aldi red label tea bags - those who like PG Tips, do you like these? I'm not having any luck at getting to Sainsburys for their basics ones and Mar is going to beat me at this rate.
I used to be a Tetley devotee but Aldi red box tea bags reign supreme in our household now. They are £1.99 for 160.
Our tumble dryer mystery was solved by ds2, he'd put a pair of OH's stinky sports socks in the tumble dryer with my load of clean washing, yuck! Thanks to all who made suggestions x
Hope you are ok Byatt, I can't see your post either.
I bought 3 Nella Last books this afternoon, can't wait to get stuck in to them.0 -
Thanks Shelley I'll get some tomorrow.
Kidcat hope they kick in soon.0
