I've had meat in the freezer for over a year and it's still been fine.

By advising that you only freeze it for "x" amount of months/weeks is just their way of trying to get more money from people that think products will go from fine to indelible at the stroke of midnight.

Loving the trolly, some snazzy ones on their web site and not a bad price really, considering how much it will save your health and sanity.

Been busy having a spring clean, sorted loads of stuff out for our garage safari bootsale next month, the whole village gets involved and you set your stall up on your drive, saves loading and unloading the car. Have told DDs that if they man the stall all day they get to split the profits between them towards their winter clothes/shoes (money I would have spent on them anyway but this gives them a bit of impetus to try harder on the stall)

Results day here tomorrow for DD1, DD2 sat part of her maths GCSE too but won't get the results until school starts again which is a pain. Have booked to take DDs, DD1s boyfriend and another friend of their out for dinner tomorrow night. Some of DDs friends are being given £100 for each grade above a C, madness. We've brought her a pair of earrings as a "well done" token and I'm popping off tomorrow morning to get some "well done" balloons done and off the the restaurant as a nice surprise. I feel that's quite extravagant enough.

Pops I very recently ate a turkey crown that had been in the freezer since November 2010. (In case of weather emergency Christmas dinner!) It was absolutely fine. We are still here to tell the tale. I am careful with dates in catering, but I pretty much ignore them for ourselves.

Good luck for everyone waiting for exam results......

    Another post lost:mad:

You deserve a rest Meme. Have a cup of tea or a coffee and some cake...:p

I have probably thrown out some good meat over the years but won't in the future...

Thinking of thinning some of my cook books out and taking them back to the CS. I may get by on fewer books or get some new one's from the CS but I probably have more than enough especially being single and as long as I can access the internet I can find plenty of recipes on here.

That brings back memories "Hollow Legs!" Dad used that expresion a lot, haven't heard it in years!!!

it must be one of those sayings which is being re-used by the next generation as myself and my boys friends parents all call the perpetual eating "Hollow Leg Syndrome"

Pooky - some of my DD friends were on similar promises last year, at the time I warned the parents they were setting up trouble, parents said that it was the only way to keep them motivated and make sure they worked.

I shook my head and walked away, this year there are two camps, the first are the parents moaning that this year it was a car that was the price of good work and then there are the parents moaning about poor grades - kids are saying well what was in it for me.

Errr - good results are the reward for hard work, and then they lead to the next thing. Some people will never learn though.

Am still in alot of pain with my back and the GP is proving difficult to see, it appears we are now on yet another system that I do not understand. The problem is they keep changing so I never know what it is and that means I cant plan ahead, for instance last weeks system was to call at 8am for an appointment, if you didnt get through by 8.15 you either had to try again in the morning or if it was an emergency you had to go onto a list and a doctor calls you and then gives you an appointment same day. Or if you wanted an afternoon appointment you called at 1pm and same thing all over again.

I called at 1pm and the new system is you call at 8am for an appointment tomorrow if they run out you call again on the next day, if its an emergency then you can go onto the list for the doctor to call you.

My problem is that I cant go tomorrow as OH at work, my dad is working and driving is equivalent to having someone stand behind me stabbing me with a red hot poker everytime I move. And I cant leave kids here for any length of time and I cant take DS8 with me as I cant chase him.

I have explained and been told its not an emergency, and its not their fault I cant organise my childcare better!!!! Ihave made a fuss which I hate doing when its me, and now have to wait for a doctor to call - am praying they will offer strong painkillers that OH can collect for me.

    Pops

There is a gadget to help people put socks on as I saw it ages ago in one of the inserts to a Sunday paper.

It was me who mentioned TKMaxx and I should have warned you that unless you get a sale on a sale then things are not cheap but are good quality.

I have a right carry on with socks...I think my knee joints are swollen and might have something to do with it...I'll look out for the gadget(even shoes can be a problem) but those trainers with velcro straps and slip on shoes help.

Probably looked at TK Maxx at the wrong time then...;)

There's me trowing out meat and as you say Pooky I have always said very few items go off as soon as the date comes around...they are usually still fine a little while longer and it is a way to shift food and hopefully get customers back into the shops...

You've proved the point Possession:)The size of my freezer means what I have will last me or if I use everything up and stop buying I could use everything reasonably quickly. I said I would avoid buying a joint of meat but if I can freeze it and perhas before doing so cut it in half so I only use so much at a time it may be cost effective...

As I can spend upto £4-£5 for smaller portions(usually diced)or pay the same amount of less for a joint.

I hope everyone waiting for results get good news too...

I sometimes forget what I talked about with Mum and Dad, sadly even how they sounded even though I only lost Mum in April so when something like this brings back a memory, it's nice...

Sympathise on all the above about being in pain with a bad back and getting an appointment.

Hope you get some relief and satisfaction regarding seeing a Dr Kidcat...usually it is those amongst us who rarely kick up a fuss that seem to have problems getting any help.
