And what may I ask is wrong with Fairy Wings? Grown ups never have any fun, I'm never going to join!!!!!!!!0
-
mardatha I got the wool and the soap and bath melts today. They are gorgeous. Many, many thanks
I have a set of sparkly fairy wings and a black feather boa. They are tucked into the back of the wardrobe along with my good corsets. I really must wear them more often. It will embarass DH and the monsters if nothing else. Also my wearing a corset produces a shelf effect that is useful for storing pens and money which is useful and having a cleavage like that is a wonderful distraction from my thighs :rotfl:
I've been to the Doctors and got more blood pressure meds. I also plucked up the courage to mention my depression. I will make an appointment and go and have a proper chat about it. Good news is that I haven't gained the weight I thought i had and have actually lost a little bit. I really must get over my block about going to the gym.
This afternoon I have to take DS2 to get a new blazer and hooded top for PE. He needed a 38 inch chest last time, so no idea if they will have one to fit. He needs extra length in the arms rather than extra space in the body. Its my former neighbour's 80th birthday tomorrow so I must remember to get her a card and some flowers. DH is off work tomorrow so we will go with another neighbour to visit her.
Is anyone else a nervous wreck waiting for their DS/DD's GCSE results? I think I need to start dosing myself up with Kalms in the hopes of getting some sleep tonight.
Time for lunch xxx0 -
Hi everyone,
I agree with all that was said earlier about water. You get a lot of moisture in a day even out of the food we eat(fruit, veg etc...)
Not a very nice day weather wise here...looks like it could rain anytime soon but very windy too and seems cold.
I did sleep for quite a bit in the end but woke with a start and for a split second did not know where I was/what time it was(even though I have a watch on and a radio controlled clock in the bedroom)and I forgot Mum was not here and called her name...
Not nice...
The shoes I purchased are too large so I have had to order them in a smaller size and then I'll send this pair back. Pity but I'll know for another time. Though these will probably last me years and I tend to wear trainers a lot and indoors just socks, barefeet or slippers. I have such a job putting socks on, it's such a stuggle.
Looks like I have come down to 8st in weight and am managing to maintain that weight reasonably well.
Hope to have a bacon snadwichsoon with brown sauce over it...may have my mackeral fillets soon with some buttered bread. Tonight may try the Quorn chicken pieces with a stir fry. We'll see.
At least I had some toast earlier...
Anyone with Dogs/cats with flea problems, it's happening a lot this year in the UK it seems...they are talking about it on You and Yours(Radio 4)this lunchtime. It seems that petowners can't get rid of them. You can listen on line soon or go to the website and just read/listen to that part of the show."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

For the first time I looked at TK Max's website...hearing quite a lot about it...someone must be buying, perhaps my income rules me out but it still seems quite an expensive retailer and it may be better fo women's clothes(?)but it didn't seem to have much choice for men...so I'll probably pass on going into the store if I happen to visit Darlington in the future.
To be honest if it wasn't for a discount book store and the theatre(and possibly the park)if I ever visit that again used to go with Mum.
Once it was the place to shop and you could spend hours there but to be honest whether it is due to a lack of money or I don't need what is being sold...
Certain shops closing or many shops being in every town these days so you don't need to go out of town...
That some items you only buy occasionally, I find little to interest me especially if all I want to do is buy food.
And though a change of scenery is nice, if you can stay within your area you save bus and taxi fares...Generally its only worth my while if I am already there or had to be for a hospital appointment or I was working and shops were nearby."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Just wanted to say good luck with your trolley purchase GQ, I think I would have chosen the one you like too! I love Mrs LW's suggestions of Lumley and Dolly for the name - Lumley just about gets my vote for sheer ab fabbyness!
Fuddle, hope you are having a lovely holiday. I'm sorry not to mention everyone but I am a bit time limited at the moment as I'm working on demessying and decorating before school starts again.
Have a lovely day, all!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Last time I went into the local town 8 shops had closed in a week. None of them independant traders or big chains but it leaves big gaps that are becoming more and more obvious. There was also a closing down sale on in Stead and Simpson the shoe shop and the clothing shop Pilot had a closing down sale too. None of these is crucial but it is disturbing by the speed they dissapear at. Probably not the entire chain closing, just local branches but who knows in the future?
The best used shops seem to be the Family Saver(a 99p shop) and poundland which are always heaving with shoppers and still delivering really good bargains. It always surprises me that people will pay full price for branded things like the Simple range or Arm and Hammer toothpaste and Listerine Mouthwash when you can get them for 99p in there - what's the old saying - There's nowt as queer as folks?0 -
I'm still surprised that a town te size mine is and we pay the highest in CT and Rents in the area, that we still have to trvel out of town for many items but I woud have thought we could have supported a Pound Shop of some kind...
Change of topic...you know often when you buy meat to freeze or put in the fridge it has a date on it...often it will say you can freeze it for a month suggesting it should be thrown out after approx 4 weeks but this article would suggest that in many cases you can keep it up to 6 months quite safely and even smaller cuts of meat for upto 3-4 months and even if defrosted in the fridge will still be ok for a few days.
It would appear cooked meat can last in a fridgefor upto approx a week so being single I now know I can make what I buy stretch even further and qquite safely...
Good article this...

Popperwell:- I often buy meat and put it in the freezer. It is sometimes there for over a year if it is something cheap and I bought lots of it.
I'm sitting here with a [STRIKE]broken[/STRIKE]very sore back. Having bought a Halogen Oven I decided to clean my fan oven. It was manky! and as I am determined not to use it I thought it could use a scrub! I am totally Cream Krackered! I used the cleaner where you can put the shelves in a bag and was very impressed with it. But the amount of fresh water and bending to clean the fluid out has created hobnail boots stamping up and down my back!Oh, these things always seem like a good idea at the time....

Meme sorry about your back, you now deserve a rest...I still have to use my halogen oven and my combi microwave has hardly been used(still have learn how to use the grill and oven functions(and to see how to keep it clean if I cook proper meals in it rather than ready ones...
I have a George Forman grill but I may leave it boxed until I really need it...at least it's there to fall back on...
Yes, I have probably thrown out some perfectly good meat over the years but I did cotton on to one idea that stopped me always throwing out good food. If you assume that you can according to the instructions freeze meat for a month that means that you can freeze it on any day upto the date on the product so even if it was the last day that still means you have a month.
And if the meat was basically being chilled which many are in the supermarket until you take them home you may have another couple of weeks to play with but as that article and you have said in reality with common sense(using eyes and smell)and ifyour fridge/freezer is working correctly and items are stored corrctly they'll last much longer...
Debating whether to thin my cook books out and take some back to the CS and/or leave it at that or come back with some new one's or save my money...what I will have remaining are probably more than enough for me on my own and again if ever I have to move there may be less space for books.
It's awful having that always hanging over me and in the back of my mind. Otherwise I'm not doing too bad...I hope I'll never be destitute, if I could get that worry out my mind I could be quite happy..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

There is a gadget to help people put socks on as I saw it ages ago in one of the inserts to a Sunday paper.
It was me who mentioned TKMaxx and I should have warned you that unless you get a sale on a sale then things are not cheap but are good quality.
DH went out hours ago to pick up diy stuff and is not back yet. Plumber has done what he needed today and water is back on. Feel a bit at a loss because want to make DH a late lunch and don't want to go shopping till he gets in.
